Borrowed Heaven comes a few years after the greatest hits collection and the Corr's last proper studio album, In Blue. It's easy to see it was time well spent as of the 12 new songs here there is very little filler and plenty of catchy, rousing choruses. Lead single and opener "Summer Sunshine" is jolly, guitar-driven, 80s pop-rock and, like much of the album, has a few quirky production gimmicks to fill out the verse while the chorus explodes into big drums and meaty guitar hooks.
It's difficult to pick standouts as the style is quite firmly set and the quality between songs unwavering, but the finale "Silver Strand" is a grandiose Celtic instrumental led by Sharon Corr's sadly under-used violin with Andrea chipping in the occasional "La la la" vocal. "Long Night" is a well-crafted 80s power-ballad and in contrast, "Humdrum" takes a contemporary slant on the Corrs sound with scratching, synths, and breaks creating the rockiest moment on the album. There may be disappointment that it veers towards the commercialism of Fleetwood Mac rather than the traditional folk of their earlier work, but this is the Corrs and has been for some time; so love it or loathe it, it's unmistakably their sound. --David Trueman

Just found another band to love.......2007-03-23
I found, to my delight, that I love this album from front to back. What a great sound. What impeccable vocals and harmonies. What wonderful melodies. What entrancing storytelling. What rich instrumentation, sometimes soulful, sometimes just rockin' out. What an amazing overall package! Their sound totally knocks me out. I love finding new bands to love. God bless the library! Without them I never would have discovered The Corrs.
How this band escaped my attention before now, I don't know. But I do know that now I've found them, I'm buying a copy of this CD for my own and will be checking out their others as well.
Like an old friend..........2007-01-30
The downside, as many point out, is that all their music sounds the same. I disagree with that assertion; their music shares similarities to be certain, but the production is really the consistent thing here. A close listener will note the songs all have their own character and nuances, even if the production keeps the overall sounds consistent.
This CD is a solid effort, with "Summer Sunshine" being the most catchy, upbeat, and clever song I've heard in a while. The other tracks are mint Corrs, and as I implied earlier, this is a good thing.
If you like the Corrs, you'll like this CD. If you don't, you won't. It's that simple.

Spectacular.......2006-06-12
Andrea Corr has an amazing voice, Sharon Corr is an amazing violinist, Jim Corr is awesome with the guitar and keyboards and Caroline Corr can sure keep a beat!
All the songs are amazing and this album is definitely one of the Corrs' best!
Are you kidding? This album is GREAT!.......2006-06-02
What's not to like about Borrowed Heaven? The album is full of upbeat pop tracks plus a few very pretty ballads. The vocals are beautiful as always, full of great melodies and harmonies. The group makes good use of Celtic elements, bringing them in to enhance the songs rather than using them as a gimmick. There's really not a bad moment on the whole album. OK, Humdrum is a bit silly, but it's so darned catchy you can't help but get into it.
The album does seem a bit more rock-oriented than previous releases, which may be what people have a problem with. It suits me just fine though. One of the reasons I love this group is that they aren't afraid to plug in their instruments (the fact that they can actually play instruments is a big plus too) and rock out when necessary.
Overall, Borrowed Heaven is a stellar release from what is arguably the best pop group on the planet. There were a lot of great releases in 2004, but this album ranks near the top.
