5 out of 5 stars Must Own, Must Buy, Must Love.......2007-06-25

I've had this CD since it was released and thought that before their new album "Scream And Light Up The Sky" comes out that I should let it be known that The Honorary Title is one of the best bands out there.

The entire CD moves you and plays on your emotions, Jarrod Gorbel's deep voice is something you wouldn't expect to come out of a man of his size. One of the best songs is Revealing Too Much, where he starts slow and by the end your belting out the lyrics with him, and your standing in a crowed rap concert, nothing stops you, and this holds true throughout the entire CD.

Personally, on my top 25 played on my i-pod every song is on it and I listen to music as much as I breathe.

Be sure you pick this up, and in August pick up "Scream and Light Up The Sky" because I got it leaked and it's awesome as well. But don't think that I am not going to buy it, i'll be the first.

5 out of 5 stars Crazy mad props...........2006-02-27

Sure they've toured with Dashboard Confessional, but just because they were on the same bill doesn't necessarily mean they fall into the same genre.

I bought this cd after hearing the driven break up track "Everything I Once Had". There are a few other songs like this on the cd, "Revealing Too Much" and "Points Underneath" come to mind off the top of my head. These songs will totally get under your skin and remain in your head long after you've listened to them. Some of the more upbeat songs kind of remind me of a fusion between Hot Hot Heat, The Strokes, and Our Lady Peace. But make no mistake, on a whole THT have created a vibe all their own. Although, having said to be influenced by Jeff Buckley, you can't help but notice soaring vocal similarities in tracks like "Disengage". Jarrod Gorbel has this unique voice, sometimes it's warbly & sometimes he's screaming at the top of his lungs... not to be confused with "screamo" music though, because it's not like that. Just really intense and passionate vocals that ultimately draw you in and make you keep listening. When I listen to his voice & combine it with the lyrical content, I picture urban New York streets...tall old buildings with people out on the stoops, a deserted subway car late at night...ETC. The band is from Brooklyn and Gorbel's style depicts that appropriately so.

THT make great creative music quite simplistically really. The music itself is not too complex, but what they do with it is anything but forgettable.

This debut is beyond impressive. The songs are poignant without being too introspective, edgy without being over the top, and catchy without being irritating. I'd say it's pretty excellent from start to finish.

Anyone willing to try something different will not regret checking this out. It has quickly become one of my favorites.

EDIT 5/28/06 --- Had this CD for several months now and it is still something I want to hear nearly every other day.

5 out of 5 stars Amazingly crafted / incredible band.......2006-01-03

I absolutely love this album from start to finish. It's nonstop in my cd player. What a well produced crafted unique album. These guys are talent incredible voice it peirces through you. My favorite tracks are "Everything I once had", "Frame by Frame", "Bridge & Tunnel", hey the whole album is great. The use of a keyboard with the guitar go so well together on this album. I think The Honorary Title is just starting to make waves & will continue to I can see it. I can't wait till there follow up release. In my top five albums as of now.

5 out of 5 stars Pop Rock at its best...and yet..........2005-12-13

..."Pop Rock" is a generalized title that fits on bands whose sounds don't even come close to the deliciously melodious and catchy tunes the Honorary Title offers up on this album. You won't be skipping over any songs because they're all good. Comparing THT to other bands does them an injustice as their sound is their own. But if I had to describe them that way, I'd say they'd be closest to a maturer All American Rejects. But that's still not right because if you don't like AAR you wouldn't be amiss to get this. "Bridge and Tunnel," definately stands out and brings back the ghost of Jeff Buckley. I could point out other favorites but every song shines in its own way without reminding you of the previous track (even though they're all distinctly THT). Hailing this band as one of the best that pop rock has to offer is not just an "honorary title," but a deserved one.

5 out of 5 stars So Good! .......2005-10-09

THT are definitley one ofmy favorite lighter bands. I'm usually into the more heavy stuff but every once ina while i try a softer band and i lucked out this time! I listen to this labum so much i always have a song stuck in my head... My two favorite are point underneath and everything i once had. If you like honest music get this album.
