On their third album, Disturbed don't as much break out of expected patterns as show their potential for doing so. Fans eager for more of the band's patented fist-thumping gruel will take satisfaction in the album's opening (and anthemic) title track, plus "I'm Alive" and "Forgiven." The band shines brightest in the record's early moments, where "Deify," "Guarded," "Just Stop," and "Stricken" demonstrate that this unit's capable of discovering a song's subtleties and crafting radio-ready choruses meant to uplift the souls of disenfranchised subdivision dwellers. The album isn't without its problems--come the halfway mark ("Sons of Plunder") vocalist David Draiman and his mates lapse into the expected, with a series of songs that are good but rarely as remarkable as those found in Act I. That said, Ten Thousand Fists ultimately reminds us that Disturbed refuse to relent in their journey toward greatness. --Jedd Beaudoin

Album Description

After a triple-platinum debut and platinum follow-up, Disturbed fuses the brutality and darkness of 2000's The Sickness with the added melodic nature and complexity of 2002's Believe for album number three. Aggressive, relentless and intense-yet at the same time transcendent-Ten Thousand Fists is a rock sledgehammer.

As of today, June 27, I still have not received this item after being charged for it back in May.

5 out of 5 stars gotta love disturbed.......2007-06-20

I have to start this admitting that Disturbed is my all-time favorite Band. There is just nobody out there that makes better music that fits ME and
David's Vocals still give me the chills! I personally never understood the criticism they received after "Believe" came out and also after "Then Thousand Fists". I think all three of the albums are strong and great!

Ten Thousand Fists features a great array of songs...which my favorite one must be Deify...even though it may be seen as a little too political it's a great tune with an awesome meaning!!! The biggest surprise on this album was to me was "Stricken"... anybody that has ever been hurt by somebody (and I know we pretty much all have been :-) should be easily able to identify this song!

Can't wait for the next Album to come out!!!

5 out of 5 stars A Classic.......2007-06-19

Simply a Classic Hard Rock Cd! Don't take my word, Listen for yourself! You won't be Dissappointed!

5 out of 5 stars 10k Fists rox my sox off.......2007-05-17

The thing about Disturbed is you either love them madly, or hate them completely. There is no middle ground.

Having said that, I saw Disturbed in concert about a month before this CD was released, and they played many of the songs from the CD during the show. Having "Believe" practically committed to memory (I've bought it 3 times because I wore out the first two), I was hoping that Ten Thousand Fists was more of the same.

It was better than I expected. I was blown away! One song I don't recall them playing in concert was the Genesis cover "Land of Confusion". If a cover can be better than the original, then this is the one that did it! All the songs are good, even the political ones, and gets me going every time I pop the CD into the player.

What impresses me the most about Disturbed is how intelligent David Draiman is, and it shows in his lyrics. The musicians are clearly skilled and compliment Draiman's lyrics and powerful vocals. And I do have to agree with the reviewer that said the "monkey howl" or whatever the devil that vocalization is that Draiman does, doesn't translate in a live performance (not that he doesn't try).

I'm not your typical metal fan. I do, however, like to rock, and always have. The two Disturbed discs I have (Believe and Ten Thousand Fists) do that for me-- in other words, rox my sox off!

I could, as others here have done, rate each song, but since they're all good for any number of reasons, I'll refrain.

And, I've always maintained that once you see an act in concert, you'll become a fan. I liked Disturbed before i saw them in concert. Since then, I'm a fan! And I love this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Disturbed...Best Band W/O excessive Hardcore Screams.......2007-04-25

The only regret I have about getting this album is that I waited so long to get it. Disturbed's 1st album, The Sickness, was awesome. The CD was one of the first that got me into metal and rarely left my CD player. When Believe came out I got it 1st day. I was slightly dissappointed because it was a little softer and his "monkey scream" subsided. Because of this dissappointment I did not get 10000 Fists when it came out. It wasn't until seeing the rockin at Ozzfest once again and hearing the new songs played that my eyes were opened. I was worried at first but the second the band left the stage at Ozzfest I knew I had to get that CD.

Needless to say I bought the album ASAP and have not regretted it one bit. Disturbed is the only band that does not scream that I can listen to over and over again and not get bored with.

5 out of 5 stars Best Album EVER.......2006-11-20

This Disturbed album (10,000 Fists) is by far one of the best albums I've ever listened to. The lyrics are all great, with little hidden messages. The sound is pretty heavy although not disturbed's heaviest. It's kind of a mix of their first album The Sickness, and their second album Believe, while it attempts to be as hard as the first, it's lyrics are much more in depth such as the second album. The import version includes two bonus tracks not on the american version. The tracks are Monster, and Two Worlds. It alson includes a bonus dvd with live performances, and music videos. If you are a huge disturbed fan buy the import version of ten thousand fists, if you are just getting into disturbed still buy the import version.

5 out of 5 stars I bought this for the artwork!.......2007-05-04

This is a great CD. But I bought it for the artwork, and only the artwork. This is the only version of the CD I'd buy! Wish more artists would do something like this.

Stick with buying the MP3s unless your a fan of Todd's... I stopped listening to CDs a long time ago. And every cd player I own is doing nothing but collecting dust.

3 out of 5 stars revisted of 80's hits.......2007-02-22

I like what they did here in revisiting 80's hits but I think that they have the talent base to make they're own music and not revamping existing tracks. I do love "Land of Confusion".

4 out of 5 stars Nice.......2007-02-20

Ok, not gonna cover the album here, if you're reading this you know it by heart. Since there is no CD/DVD, DualDisc, SA-CD, or DVD-A release of ten thousand fists, then this is the coolest way to buy the album. Although the only addidion is lots of artwork, and an instert with info on more disturbed stuff to buy, I would say that this is a worthy purchase if you can find it for under $25,(Best Buy for $22.99) because the artwork dispursed throught the booklet is printed on a compination of velum and photo stock, so pages kinda merge together in an evanescent vision, a very cool way to read the lyrics and dedications. If there had been an added track or two, a dvd, or even just an enhansed CD this would habe been a perfect five. So now Disturbed ones, go out and purchase! purchase! Embrace your Avarice!

4 out of 5 stars Ten thousand hits -- well, maybe ten.......2006-06-13

I can't really call myself a Disturbed expert, but I decided to look into them to see why everyone was buzzing about David Draiman and the boys. I'm not really a Todd McFarlane expert either, but his cover art IS what drew me into picking up Ten Thousand Fists. And I'd have to say that the album is pretty solid.

The best songs on the album in my opinion would have to be "Deify", "I'm Alive" and, of course, the title track. And while a number of reviewers seem to think "Overburdened" makes them feel just that, the only problem I have with it is that Dave's voice doesn't even sound the same on there. And I'm not exactly sure why they decided to remake Genesis' "Land of Confusion", but it's pretty decent -- except for the bridge, that is.

There are also a couple of political songs on the album. "Avarice" is okay, but "Sacred Lie" is much better (especially with that electronic intro). The only problem there is that as anti-Bush as I am, nowadays you can't help but get that been-there-done-that feel with those kind of songs. Oh, well; Ten Thousand Fists proves that Disturbed still has what it takes to rock the stage.

5 out of 5 stars Special edition totally worth it........2005-11-30

I bought the special edition of TTF a couple months back and I've got to say, it ROCKS!! The graphic designs are awesome and it's not a matter look at the pictures once then never again. Nearly every time I get out the CD I have to sit down and look at the art. I suppose I appreciate it even more being rather artistic myself, but really speaking I think most people would enjoy it. My favourite picture is the hooded guy on the back page with his ripped clothing and chains, I liked it so much that I've been trying to redraw it but it's pretty hard because of the type of paper it's on. Anyway, my point is, if it's just music you're after buy the normal CD, but I think the special edition is completely worth and it doesn't cost that much more than the normal CD.
