Product Description
"Hello, Good Friend", from The Rocket Summer is an incredibly infectious album with wonderfully detailed songs. The brainchild of musical wunderkind Bryce Avary. The Rocket Summer blends everything from smart '70s piano pop, passionate punk and lo-fi indie rock into a cohesive modern rock gem. But instead of singing about despair and hopelessness like his comtemporaries, he sings about life, love and God, which is kind of refreshing. So go ahead and say "Hello, Good Friend" to The Rocket Summer.

What a positive artist, energetic, amazing! Saw him perform at Cervantes in Denver and loved him. Now, whenever I have a gift giving occaision, this CD is always at the top of my list. Absolutely exuberant!

omg!!! this cd is amazing and this band could literally make the stiffest person start to dance!!! you should totally order this && you will be so glad you did! && take me seriously,im almost 13 !!! Its a great cd for parties or for your christmas/hannakuh/or birthday present!!!! IM TELLING YOU, BUYY IT!!!!!!!!
makes me smile.......2006-10-24
i was going to review this a few says ago but am glad i waited. like bryce's first album this one grows on you as you listen to it. that is why i am giving it 5 stars as opposed to hte 4 i would have a few days back. more positive, fun, and inspirational music! i really enjoy this album and even like it beter than calendar days. i think bryces lyrics are more meaningful on this one. he has a very unique style that is kind of like he's just having a conversation with you. i think this is why aone reveiwer on here said they don't think he puts effort into them. i disagree with that person.they are VERY meaningful lyrics. i also just love his voice. it's very cute and his falsetto is just stunning. for anyone who appreciates honest, fun, different music buy this! if you would rather sulk and complain about how horrible everything is you will hate this. however,i said if you would RATHER. if you are sulking and complaining and want to get out of that mood "hello good friend" should do the trick. thanks again bryce!!!
One of the most fun cds to listen to..........2006-09-17
I love this cd because every song gives you something different. If band examples help, The Rocket Summer is like a mix of Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, the Format, and in a good way broadway. It's obvious that Bryce knows his voice and uses it in very creative ways. From slower songs like "Goodbye, waves, and drives away" to faster ones like "Brat Pack," they are all pretty catchy in their own right. People keep referencing this as emo but the only real "emo" track is the end of "Christmas Present," a partially instrumental song that really ends the cd perfectly. I'm not sure why other reviews suggest spending your money on other CDs that don't fall into this genre at all. I'd never heard of the Rocket Summer until a few months ago and now they are definitley in my top ten favorite bands. Worth buying if you LIKE the bands I listed above...
Don't waste your money!.......2006-09-12
This CD is just not worth it. You know how, when you're building a puzzle, and you are searching for a place for a certain piece, and sometimes the piece seems to almost fit, but it doesn't quite? Well, that's how his music is. Something just doesn't ring cleanly. The music really is pretty bad. His voice is horrible. (You have to wonder how people like this even get anywhere.) The lyrics......bleh. They are a mish-mash of confusing thoughts. The tunes are not even tunes. Just...don't buy it. Please. Save your money for something that won't scar you for life.

Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

A real good selection.......2006-04-27
Even if I don't own this CD (stuff I have on 33 rpm), I had to approve the other critics here. To know Barbara Cook is to participate to the Great Broadway Era with one of its essential star performer.
Cook was made for the stage and, following next, her live shows are quite impressive. Her voice can be tiny at times, but who doesn't get older?
Just listen to Glitter and be Gay: a Bernstein masterpiece, but a Cook personal creation. (Only Sumi Jo made it as good on her Carnegie Hall show).
All B'way fan should know Barbara Cook...
good overview of her broadway career.......2005-02-06
Before Barbara Cook became a cabaret performer, she was a fantastic Broadway star. This out of print cd focuses on the songs from her revivals and original productions with the omission of The Glass Harp. It goes chronologically from the beginning of her career with the shows Candide, Plain and Fancy, and Flahooley. (Sadly they were flops.) Then it reaches The Music Man where she finally became a star. Her Till There was You is marvelous. The last three songs are from her 1975 At Carnegie Hall album. I wish that this was replaced with numbers from her shows. It doesn't quite fit in with the phase. I guess this cd wanted to be an outlook on her career in general. Barbara Cook had a clear warm soprano. If only her 1958 album Songs of Perfect Propriety could be released.
A Broadway legend appreciated.......1999-07-02
Just to hear her voice intentionally break with emotion on "Dear Friend" will affect you deeply. This is a fine document of a great career and a stunning voice. You will treasure it.
