5 out of 5 stars they rule.......2006-08-16

to whoever said coheed sometimes has a little too long of songs, YOU FOOL. when i first started listening to them, i thought most of their songs were quite short, and their is NEVER a dull moment in any coheed song. anyways, i first heard of coheed from the warped tour comps, with delirium trigger and three evils. these are very excellent songs which prompted me to go out and buy all 3 of their albums on the same day. while the songwriting, musicianship and singing is amazing in every song on every album, im going to have to lean to iksose3 and good apollo just because they are more complex and better written. first off, my favorite songs are time consumer and the demo version of everything evil. on their second album, about 5 minutes into 2113, their is an awesome section which concludes with a version of everything evil, i definately recommend that album too. but overall everything is very excellent. im a fan for life!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing chapter in ongoing epic!.......2006-08-04

Second stage turbine blade is the second chapter in the Bag.On.Line adventures, and the first release by Coheed and Cambria. Very raw sounding, but yet very powerful and amazing. The instrumentation is very good. Very talented musicians, and a very original story concept that spans over four releases(I believe). It took a few listens to get over the high pitched voice of the singer, but after you do, you will realize that the lyrics and his voice are amazing. Very beautiful voice and lyrics. I recommend this album to those that enjoy the concept album. AS far as being compared to their other releases, In keeping secrets of silent earth: 3 is their best release

5 out of 5 stars Simply stunning.......2006-06-02

It is a rare instance that one can call a CD beautiful, but this does an excellent job at it.

For those of you who don't know; Second Stage Turbine Blade follows the second portion of a story lead singer, Claudio Sanchez has written.

The story is documented in a few comic books (I'm not exactly sure how many there are. 2 or 3, for now I think.) I strongly reccomend reading those as they explain the sometimes strange lyrics of the CD.

I won't bother going into my thoughts on all of the songs each, because the album has to be listened to as a whole.

I will say, however, that Claudio Sanchez' voice fascinates me like no other. It can be completely childish when he wants it to be and very brooding otherwise. I know a lot of people don't like his voice due to the fact that it's high pitched, but I really think it adds a lot of character to the music.

Most of the songs go beyond 3 minutes, which can be a turn off for some people, but the songs on all 3 of their albums switch tempos, and key signatures so frequently that there isn't a dull moment.

Though this album sounds a whole lot different than their next 2, this is personally my favorite from them. I strongly reccomend this to anyone looking for something fresh.

4 out of 5 stars "Pain is only a pulse if you just stop feeling it.".......2006-04-29

Coheed and Cambria's first album The Second Stage Turbine Blade is pretty different from their subsequent releases. It contains neither the poppy, mainstream fluff, nor the epic, towering ballads. It's simply ten tracks of solid but sometimes uninteresting (and unending) progressive punk rock. There weren't any real successful singles from this record, which makes sense, all the songs are a little too long and out of the mainstream to be played for the same market that ate up the junk from later releases.

Even this early on in their career, you can tell these guys are talented musicians. The guitar work is very good, and only gets better from here. The first song after the title track intro, "Time Consumer", begins with an extended, pleasant musical opening before it breaks into the song itself. This is the point where some people get put off, because it's the first time they hear the singer's voice. Yes, it's unnecessarily high, but it doesn't affect the quality of the music, so I'm not going to spend significant time discussing it.

There's not really a lot to say about most of the songs on the album. The songwriting and quality is consistently above average throughout, but somewhat unremarkable since they do very little to make themselves unique. "God Send Conspirator" is followed by "IRO-bot", an interesting hidden track that's a simple acoustic piece, much different from the rest of the songs. It's also a first step towards some of the very long prog pieces the band would eventually come up with.

5 out of 5 stars Debut album..Brilliant!.......2006-04-07

I love this album! I don't really care if its emo/indie/rock/prog, whatever you stereotypists would like to call this "genre", frankly I dont think it matters. Coheed and Cambria are Coheed and Cambria, and that includes this album. I personally think that although IKSOSE3 recycles too much off of THIS album, although it is a brilliant effort...
First REAL song "Time Consumer" starts off slow, and me being a repeated listener of this album, can get very boring, apart from the last 2 and a half minutes..That is pure brilliance! "Devil In Jersey City" was the first song I heard off this album, and to me its a song which signals good times so it always sounds fresh. "Everything Evil" is EXCELLENT, definately one of the stronger tracks on the album, if only for the "Dear Claudio..." ending chorus. "Delirium Trigger", "Hearshot Kid Disaster" and "33" are fairly forgettable I have to say, they are good, just they dont really provoke much emotion in me. Then you get to THE best tracks...."Junesong Provision" has the best starting riff and structure EVER! "Good morning sunshine awake when the sun hits the sky!" Excellent.... "Neverender" starts off slowly but builds up into an excellent song about a minute in, when the first clean chorus comes in, from then on its a winner! "God send conspirator" has to be my personal favourite because of its length; I am a fan of longer songs! The ending is just a brilliant ending to the album... "Your dreams wont last forever" is to me one of those lines which stays in your head for a long time. It left me with a lasting image of this album, which was of an album and a band packed full of emotion. However, there are SOME parts of this album which do seem to go nowhere after repeated listens, but overall the songs are brilliant. If (like me) you dont like the ridiculously epic rock riffs and over prog sound on GAIBS4 then this is pretty much the complete opposite, which just goes to show the strength of Coheed and Cambria; they have something for everyone.

5 out of 5 stars You cannot even tell it is a debut album!.......2006-12-30

This album is super good, and you cannot even tell it is a debut album. This debut album destroys a lot of band's best albums!

Second Stage Turbine Blade - 7/10 [Eerie opener...]
Time Consumer - 9/10 [This used to be my favorite when I first heard it, now I like a lot of the other songs more. Still Awesome.
Devil in Jersey City - 10/10 [The single taken off the record. Good choice, in my opinion!]
Everything Evil - 10/10 [Beautiful song near the end.]
Delirium Trigger - 10/10 [One of the best on the album! Love the screaming.]
Hearshot Kid Disaster - 8/10 [Many people really like this song, and while I think it is good, it is far from being one of the best on the album.]
Junesong Provision - 10/10 [Great opening line...]
Neverender - 10/10 [Love the lyrics to this one.]
God Send Conspirator - 10/10 [Powerful song that ends the original album perfectly.]
Elf Tower New Mexico - 10/10 [Even if you own the original album, this song is THE reason to buy the re-issue! My favorite...SUPERB.]

I think the acoustic songs are nothing special, but they are a nice bonus.

3 out of 5 stars Bizarre Lyrics.......2006-11-15

This is the first CD I have listened to of theirs.
I like the overall sound. It sounds a bit like Rush.
I opened up the included pamphlet to look at the songs
and noticed when I started reading the lyrics that they
make no sense. Half the time they are not even sentences,
and despite that, there is no flow of story throughout the song.
Just incohesive ramblings. It's the most bizarre thing I've
ever seen. So if you like their sound, and aren't much into
paying attention to words to songs, then this album might be
fine for you, otherwise it might just drive you crazy!

5 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing.......2006-11-07

Coheed and Cambria's The Second Stage Turbine Blade is simply amazing. I easily give it 5 stars. I love the roughness/unpolishedness of his voice in this album.

5 out of 5 stars Exquisite........2006-07-14

I love Coheed and Cambria, and though now they've shifted into more of a Prog arrangement, I think that their raw-er sound in this album is excellent.
1. The Second Stage Turbine Blade... Introduction Music.
2. Time Consumer... Moving, powerful song, "Maria, my star, matthew goodnight"
3. Devil in Jersey City... Even though the concept is quite contrary, I think this is a fun song to just sing along to.
4. Everything Evil... Though it starts a bit slow, after the first three minutes it becomes one of the beautiful songs ever. "Stay until Wednesday, and write me a childlike letter pretending. At war here on Thursday let's make this our last day at home by the fence..."
5. Delirium Trigger... This is personally my least favorite song on the cd, though other people seem to like it.
6. Hearshot Kid Disaster...I love this song. I can't really think of anything else to say about it.
7. 33... This is one of my favorite songs, of all time. The drumming is amazing, as is every part of it.
8. Junesong Provision... Though I am partial to the acoustic version, this song is still great. It's nice and fast-paced.
9. Neverender... This is a highly underestimated song, even though it is one of my favorites. I like all the emotion in this song. It's passionate.
10. God Send Conspirator... Another amazing song. A nice way to end the (original) record.
11. Elf Tower New Mexico... Probably my third favorite song of all time. I love the singing, the weird melodies, everything. It's spectacular.
12. Junesong Provision Acoustic... This remains to be my favorite song of all, it is so creepy and oddly sweet. The high pitched vocals and the dark lyrics are an excellent combination.
13. Everything Evil Demo... Though the beginning of the song is almost exactly the same, about seven minutes into the track a haunting croon leaves you wanting more.

mhm.

4 out of 5 stars An awesome debut CD... you can tell it was a debut........2006-07-08

TSSTB is a good starting point for the famous emo-core band. The Second Stage Turbine Blade was what launched CC's career.

1. THE SECOND STAGE TURBINE BLADE: N/A: A creepy intro with a scary-sounding song being played thru a cheesy speaker.

2. TIME CONSUMER: 10/10: the 2nd song. A totally kickass 2nd song.

3. DEVIL IN JERSY CITY: 5/10: The first single. Ok song.

4. EVERYTHING EVIL: 10/10: A creepy song. And BTW, they yell FBI near the end, not KBI.

5. DELIRIUM TRIGGER: 10/10: The 2nd single. A very breathtaking song.

6. HEARSHOT KID DISASTER: 9/10: A very good song that starts out with a very System Of A Down-like guitar part... then leads into a very good punk song.

7. 33: 8/10: A very weird song.

8. JUNESONG PROVISION: 20/10: The best on the album.

9. NEVERENDER: 10/10: A great song! totally one of the best.

10. GOD SEND CONSPIRATOR: 10/10: Very awesome. Let a few seconds pass after it has faded, and THE RING IN RETURN is played on the piano. It sounds very freaky.

IRO-BOT: 4/10: Hidden track. Not really good. Reprised on 21:13 on the next album.

So this is not bad but could be better. But buy it and tell me what ya think.
