3 out of 5 stars too much of the same.......2007-06-30

This album has some catchy tunes for sure. But the problem is that most of the songs start to meld and sound the same. I understand that each group strives to attain a particular unique sound. But there's nothing new under the sun, everything is just being reinvented. The title track "Move Along" has been so over-played on the radio that anyone would be ready to tune it out after the 200th time it seems you're hearing it. "It Ends Tonight" just comes across as whining and not a great song. After listening to this album, I can't say any particular track especially stands out. To me that would not seem to be a good thing. I think AAR needs to diversify their sound a bit. The lyrics aren't terrible, but nothing spectacular either. I would say this album is just ok. Overall score: 6.7 out of 10.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Rock Album.......2007-05-25

I am not usually a fan of this genre of rock, but boy am I a fan of this album! Every song has a catchy tune and even catchier (sometimes tongue-in-cheek) lyrics. This is one of those albums that you want to pop into your car, put the top down, and cruise along while singing along at the top of your voice. Exhilaratingly enjoyable music!

5 out of 5 stars amazing!.......2007-05-16

There were few albums that I liked instantly. But "Move Along" is just awesome!
If you don't have it yet, get their first album The All-American Rejects, too! It's just as good!

1 out of 5 stars ALOT OF CRYING.......2007-05-14

I WAS DISAPOINTED IN THIS ALBUM. ESPECIALLY FROM A GOOD BAND SUCH AS THIS. I REALLY ONLY FOUND TWO SONGS ON THE WHOLE CD THAT WERE WORTH PUTTING ON TO MY I-POD "IT ENDS TONIGHT" AND "MOVE ALONG". AS FOR THE OTHER SONGS I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY "CRY BABY". THEY ALL SOUNDED PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS FOR BEING MAD AT SOME GIRL FOR EITHER DUMPING THEM OR CHEATING ON THEM. SO I WAS DISSAPOINTED TO HEAR ALL THESE WHINNY SONGS.

5 out of 5 stars CD.......2007-03-19

My son loves this CD. I usually dont listen to his music but this was really good!

Picking a primary gripe about Disney's Move It is easy: In the post-Madagascar landscape of 2005, the infectious dance tune "I Like to Move It," first popularized by K.K. Project in 2002, is conspicuously, disappointingly absent. However, birthday-party booty-shakers will have forgotten their allegiance to K.K. Project's song; when Baha Men instruct them in their watered-down way to "Move It Like This." Standbys "Macarana," "U Can't Touch This," "Le Freak," "Kung Fu Fighting," and "I Got You (I Feel Good)" supply Mom ample cause to move it, too. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars A favorite among fans.......2007-01-09

There's absolutely nothing I don't love about this CD. The title track and video are, of course, amazing, but I was completely unprepared for how much I would love the extra tracks...so much so that I wish they were released as singles themselves. The band has never sounded so wonderful as they do on those two songs. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who prides him/herself as a true AAR fan!

5 out of 5 stars AAR Rocks!!!.......2007-01-04

Anyone who likes alternative rock and The All- American Rejects previous albums will for sure love this UK only CD composed of their hit from the Move ALong album, 'Move Along' and two other very rockin' songs, 'Eyelash Wishes,' and 'Kiss Yourself Goodbye.' The All-American Rejects have for sure pumped up the volume on their recently released Move Along album and I know that I have pumped up the volume anytime I listen to this CD!!!!!

Amazon.com's Best of 2001

Barbara Cook is one of today's most accomplished song stylists, and if you don't believe us, just listen to this live album. It's a master class in the art of singing. It documents an evening at Carnegie Hall during which Cook proved that she can dissect and extract the substance out of the simplest of lyrics. One of the best surprises is "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" (from Company), which is taken at an amiable trot and allows the singer to display its humor. Cook is not a swinging singer and uptempo is not her pace; give her a ballad, though, and she'll wring the last drop of emotion out of it. Her version of "Losing My Mind" (here paired with "Not a Day Goes By") is simply astonishing. The singer also performs songs that Sondheim has said he wished he had written, an awful lot of them by Harold Arlen. No complaints here. Guest Malcolm Gets solos on a few songs and duets with Cook on others, including "Let's Face the Music and Dance." This is classic material done masterfully by a classic singer. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2004-02-20

Having read the other reviews there is little more for me to add. I have been a Barbara Cook fan for a longtime and for me, this is one of her best concerts ever. I do, however, prefer the DVD. As with some other reviewers, I do not want to hear Malcolm Gets (as much as I like him) when I want to listen to Barbara. Her flawless interpretation of music is a hard act to follow for any singer! I managed to see this concert 4 times over a year and a half. Each time I saw her the voice was stronger and more assured (I would not have thought that possible). I can't help but think we will have the pleasure of hearing Ms Cook for many years to come. For those people who enjoyed his CD I strongly recommend purchasing the DVD. Barabara's rendition of So Many People is breathtaking (literally, I don't think I breathed once during the entire song). If you ever have opportunity to see her live - go! She has an ability to make you feel as if every song she sings and every word she speaks is directed to you alone. She can take a large venue and make it feel as intimate as your own living room. Having had the pleasure of meeting her I can say she is as youthful and pleasurable in person as she is in her performance.

5 out of 5 stars Everyone Should Whistle.......2003-10-11

After being privileged to attend this concert, I had to own the CD. Once a lyric coloratura and the original Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide, Ms. Cook has become (in her 70s) a true diva, blessed with a velvety, warm sound. Every note has meaning. Her high B-flat on "Ice Cream" is still the envy of any soprano today. Everyone should whistle after hearing the superb performances on this CD. Even better, though, is the experience of having been in the concert hall for the live performance. Brava, Ms. Cook!

5 out of 5 stars An amazing intro to the body of work of a true master.......2003-06-16

When I first bought tickets for the 'Mostly Sondheim' show on tour (in San Francisco) I figured it couldn't be too bad. Besides, I had only been exposed to a few of his songs (Anyone Can Whistle, Losing My Mind...) and had only seen "A Little Night Music". On the way out of the theater I immediately picked up this recording of the program. It is truly amazing. I immediately began listening to it and have barely put it down in the last few months. Furthermore, my Sondheim CD collection increased in size from an unflattering zero to five (and it's still growing)! This is an amazing introduction to the works of Stephen Sondheim, who is now my favorite modern musical composer). Buy this now if you don't already have it!

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful, moving concert.......2003-04-13

This is a wonderful CD set with a great selection of songs. I do want to express a slight reservation, however. Barbara Cook has been one of my favorite singers for a number of years and the way her voice defies time is extraordinary -- for her to be singing with such bright, beautiful tone in her mid-70s with no wobble or beat in the voice is an amazing achievment.

I do have to say that by 2001, when this concert was recorded, Cook seemed to have a lost a little bit of power and intensity in her singing. This is only natural for someone of her age. Her voice is still lovely, but you can sense her keeping it in reserve a bit. She's as expressive as ever, but compare the rendition of "I got lost in his arms" on this album to the one on her previous album recorded in 1999, "The Champion Season", and there's less urgency and vocal depth in her singing here. That said, the high B at the end of "Ice Cream" is sensational.

So, despite that caveat, this is, again, a wonderful album, a must for Cook fans, especially for the gorgeous renditions of songs I'd never thought I'd get to hear her perform: "Not a Day Goes By", "Happiness/Loving You", "San Francisco", etc. Buy it!

1 out of 5 stars ... and I love Barbara Cook.......2003-02-11

This recording is a disappointment for me. It is not her best work, and Malcolm Gets is uninspired. My biggest complaint however is the engineering of the recording. Throughout the speaking was to soft, the singing volumes uneven, and the applause deafening. I will be passing this CD on to friends, and will later donate it to my local library.

      Album Description

Oklahoma's All-American Rejects finally follow up their self-titled 2002 debut three years later. Happily, Move Along sounds like almost no time at all had passed between outings. Kicking off with the brash punk-pop of the first single, 'Dirty Little Secret' (which features a killer distorted guitar riff), Move Along keeps things lively. The songs are short and the choruses are tailor-made for shouting along with, as people undoubtedly will. As before, co-leader Nick Wheeler decorates the songs with more odd touches than one would expect from an otherwise straightforward pop-punk band, layering sitar, banjo, theremin and hip-hop-flavored electronic beats into songs that otherwise sound little different from the likes of Blink-182 or Good Charlotte. Highlights include the sneering 'Stab My Back', and the flamenco-inflected rocker 'Top of the World'. 2005.

      4 out of 5 stars Stompin Tom,the man of the land,Moves Along!!.......2004-08-27

Well, this CD released in 1999 is a must have for any fan of Canadas' #1 man of the land and musical legend Stompin' Tom Connors.
This man has been in the public eye for almost 40 years now and shows no signs of letting up and this is to everyones benefit. Here is a self made,did-it-on-his-own true Canadian entertainer/artist/legend who has been the only one to stay true to his roots right from the beginning of his career.....before it was "fashionable" to do so.
I will always admire this man for what he has done for the country and the patriotism he shows. He has a whack of talent both as a performer and a songwriter. And there has never been a more accessible star than Stompin' Tom.What performer do you know will stay behind after most of his concerts to give his fans a chance to chat, get autographs and pictures? And still act like someone you've known for most of your life? No one.
Mr.Conners sports no affectations or attitudes. In fact using the term 'star' is really the opposite of how he's perceived and indeed comes across. What you see on stage or face to face is the real deal.No phoniness at all.Just a man proud of his country and proud and grateful to be where he is.
I urge all readers,if they haven't already,to get copies of his two books which will astound one as to how far Stompin' Tom has come in his life and how much he accomplished.
This CD is another testament to the living legend that he is.
It is pure Canadian music with one foot in country and this time one foot in rockabilly. One can't really peg him down to one genre of music because each CD can span several genres and sub genres.
But his talent and writing skills are in abundance on this one.
He does some cover versions one of one of his favourite performers Hank Snow with "Sammy Morgans' Gin" and an absolutely wonderful and surprising rendition of that Australlian classic "Waltzing Matilda".
The opening track and title of the CD is a great opening number and trucking song that instantly has your feet tapping and head bobbing. It's also a fine example of where Stompin' Tom has always excelled. He has had the knack of creating songs that are seemingly simple and with great hooks that beautifully sell the songs, whether it's ballads,up tempo numbers or rockabilly.
Mr.Connors surprised this writer by re-recording two of his most famous numbers,"Long Gone to the Yukon" and my personal favourite "Big Joe Mufferaw".He took this song, with the help of his fabulous backing talent of Mark Leforme and the Forms, and put some real "guts" into it and I now prefer it over his original interpretation.
Another standout is a song with a topic I never thought could be made into a song for the simple reasons of the difficulty in rhyming it and the topic itself.Who else but Stompin' Tom could make a great number(there's that wonderful 'hook' again!) about Sasquatches? Listen to the "Sasquatch Song",you'll love it.
Here's a man that has fought up close and personal with the Canadian entertainment industry most specifically the award shows and radio. He gets very little to NO exposure on radio or TV in this country.Yet he's as popular today as when he first started,if not more so.He gains more fans every year from youngsters to university/college students to seniors and everyone in between.
I invite you to see him in person and also more importantly to go out and buy his CDs,especially this one. This is among his best in years and deserves all of our support.
Thank you for the music Stompin' Tom.You're one helluva man and a Canadian.

        Product Description

Leaving Egypt chronicles Tom’s emotions in coming to terms with his artistic calling and is meant to lift up those also searching for life’s compass. “We’re all leaving our own Egypt, in one way or another,” Tom suggests. “We need to be faithful with our talents and give God back His investment in us through our daily service. Even if we’re taking baby steps like I was in the beginning, it still gives God glory, when we start to walk in the gifts he put in us.”

        Album Description

"Learn & Play", Beth and Scott's long-awaited first CD for younger children, has been in production for over five years - and for good reason! Fans can be sure that Beth and Scott have put every ounce of their creative talents behind this effort: selecting songs that will engage children at home, in the classroom or in the car. One word of warning, though - "Learn & Play" is so much fun that it makes everyone want to dance, so be careful while driving Mom and Dad!

One of the greatest compliments Beth and Scott have received about "Learn & Play" is that it is an inclusive album. Yes, Beth and Scott's wonderful vocals and humor are in full evidence, but so are the talents of many musicians, friends and children who leant their efforts to the final product. Much of the credit for this goes to their friend and co-producer, Jeff Coplan, who is currently one of the most sought after pop songwriters and producers in the music industry. Even more important than his virtuosity at the mixing board, though, was Jeff's ability to coax fun out of all the performers on "Learn & Play". The tunes jump off the CD because every one had so much fun at Beth and Scott's studio, Homemade Soup Records. It's as if the listener is being invited into Beth and Scott's recording studio for a great party!
