Customer Reviews:
Subpar - Bland and often boring.......2002-05-24
I love DJ Revolution. I have ever since I heard him on Sway and Tech's "This or That". Rev's "In 12's We Trust" is one of my all time favorite CDs, yet this work really left me feeling empty. The majority of these songs aren't very good. There's a few shining moments, basically just a few good one liners here and there that made me rewind. Chief Kamachi, Planet Asia, Esoteric & 7L are their usual good selves. Besides the first cut by Bumpy Knucks (Freddie Foxxx for those that don't know) and the song by Big L -- both of which I had heard already on other CDs, no real big name artists had anything to say. Dilated Peoples really disappointed me, as did Kool Keith (Dr. Dooom), Royce and Em, Rasco and Self Scientific.
I expected more from these artists and DJ Revolution than this bland hardcore compilation. The whole CD is rather boring with only a few good bars and even fewer (2) good actual songs. A good example of this, is some cat I had never heard of, Insane Poetry, who dropped the best example of being really tripped up on the hook to his "Shroom Vision", "I can see three of you\ But you can't see me". I'm going to have to check this dude out, he has potential, unlike some of these other artists featured here that sound like carbon copies of the same old stuff.
As I said this CD is average and only worth your money if you have a lot of it.
Fantastic addition to anyone's collection.......2000-09-15
I was looking around my cd store, found this gem, thought the cover art was cool, and so bought it. On the way back from the store, I remember thinking, "I shouldn't have bought that just for a cool cover...what a waste of money..." Then I got home and gave it a spin on my stereo, just to see what it was like. Since that moment it's been my absolute favorite rap album. The most perfect mix of hip-hop I've ever heard...goes from hardcore and gangsta to just good. If there's a type of rap you like, I guarantee it's on this cd. Get it.
Welcom to the R2K virus............2000-04-17
This cd was sort of an accident for me. I picked it up, thinking it was a techno cd (no offense to DJ revolution), and was a tad surprised at the content. I am however, a fan on hip hop, and this was the first mix I had ever heard. The more I listened to it, the more I liked it, and now it hardly leaves my cd player. DJ Revolution does an amazing job behind the tables, creating is own mix with various sample, both off of vinyl and electronic, and he smoothly mixes each song with effortless ease. This mix has an excelent feel to it, and it displays a bit of the underground style of hip hop. Some of my favorit tracks are track 2 (Part of my Life: Bumpy Knuckles), track 9 (Reign: Dr.oop Capone), and track 14 (Scary Movies: Bad meets evil (Eminem and Royce the 5-9). If you're looking for a good mix, and in the mood for some interesting style, hook this one up. Gauranteed to please.
DJ Revolution Forever........2000-03-25
Got to add this CD into your colletion. A classic underground album. Worth getting for real hip hop fans. Go cop this one.
By Far a Great Album...........2000-02-16
DJ Revolution cuts it up in this constant attack of high octane lyrics from great hip hop artists and magnificent beats off da vinyl. DJ Revolution (also with Wake Up Show) is by far one great dj...one ot be ranked with the best such as Q-Bert, A-Trak, and Kut Masta Kurt.
