Hip-hop confabulations don't come much more forward-thinking than this. Working from solid atomic principles, Deltron 3030 takes one producer, one MC, and one DJ and throws them beyond Futurama. Dan the Automator (one of the founders of the Handsome Boy Modeling School and administrator of Dr. Octagon's porno hospital) reinvents himself as the Cantankerous Captain Aptos and teams up with Deltron Zero (a.k.a. Hieroglyphics crew member Del tha Funky Homosapien) and Skiznod the Boy Wonder (bucky turntablist Kid Koala). Between the radio ads for future-funked, rap jams, and camouflaged cameos (by the likes of Prince Paul, a castrato Damon Albarn, MC Paul Barman and his Upper West Side doppelgänger Sean Lennon), the Deltron crew advise you to upgrade your brain to avoid getting sucked into the time virus. ("Ugrade your gray matter," they chant, "'cause one day it may matter.") The thematic opener, "3030," sounds like a beat-driven David Lean movie that slipped into the DJ's fingers with 31st-century rhythm stutters and scratches. Automator ping-pongs loops as rousing choral parts swell with space pride. "Things You Can Do" riffs off mod rock while a harpsichord hack and Sean Lennon drops feature on the sickly sweet mental apocalypse of "Memory Loss." One of the best underground albums of all time.......2007-04-04

This album is absolutely amazing. From Del's ability to use words that most rappers have never even heard, to Dan's ability to put together some nice basslines and sampling. Set in the year 3030, the album chronicles the duos adventures in space while still being able to relate the material to the present times. I would strongly suggest that anyone who likes hip-hop or rap to pick this album up. It is well worth it.

Let me start off by saying Im a huge DEL fan and have all of his material merely got this just to finish off his collection more than anything else. I have to admit however that its probably his 2nd best only to his "No Need For Alarm" album out of his 5 albums so far. Its by far his most complex+original album with his normal smokey battle orientated lyrics taking on a whole new techno-jargined quirkiness. They are quite literally off the wall but as another reviewer stated it all makes sense. But to review this as another DEL solo album would be a travesty as Dan The Automator is in full control of this project and his musical soundscapes allow DEL and indeed Kid Koala to run amok in equal measure. His beats are nothing short of breathtaking, Koala's turntablism is amazing and Del's lyrics+delivery are awesome. As its been stated several hundred times on the review pages for this album its just a brilliant, must-have album from start to finish. All 12 tracks (the rest are interludes) are barnstorming pieces of work. This is the yardstick to which Ive measured so many hiphop albums since I got it over a year ago. The standouts were "Things You Can Do", "Positive Contact", "Mastermind", "Time Keeps On Slipping" and "Memory Loss" but you could actually pick any of the 12 joints. Cop it and enjoy it 3030 times.

Why is this out of print, it's blasphemy as far as I can see. This album is the most original, different and purely amazing work of music I have ever heard and I have heard much hip hop, rock and all that jazz. I was caught off guard when these sounds came around, and I found that even now this album has the profound effect of taking me off ground. Del's flows continue to have new meanings and Dan's beats always bring new leanings. If you find this pay mind to this and pay any amount of dimes for this.

good to hear a rap album not focused on how much of a gangsta the artist, but mor focused on providing a creative bunch of songs with some thought put into the lyrics and music. phrasing is awesome from del the funky homosapien and excellent beats from dan the automator, which match perfectly with the underlying theme/story throughout the album

When I first Bought the Instrumentals version, it was the best because I could use it for soo many things like DJing with friends, using it for Parties, and listening to it on my Ipod. The reason why I rate this 5 stars is because I believe that the person who Djs and needs instrumentals for a mix can use this when they're mixing or making a cd with their friend who could be an MC. I suggest that who ever reads this should buy the CD and enjoy the Instrumantal Journey of Deltron 3030, "The Instrumentals."

I'm Caught In The Grip Of The City Madness.......2005-07-19

Takes the cinematic soundscapes laid by Deltron 3030 and makes them fully realized. While I loved Del's rapping in the first release, Tron 3030 works completely differently, and as such it doesn't linger in the shadow of it's lyrical sibling. Instead, it works like a movie soundtrack to something sweepingly beautiful. To be honest, I created an account just to give this record an average customer review of five stars, because anything short is criminal. The perfect instrumental remix of my favorite hip-hop album of all time.

4 all those who thought that del's early 90's style of whinning the lyrics had made the original 3030 album a little less than perfect. just amazing tunes accompanied by crazy skratchez from the best turntablist in the business.

Make sure that u'v got a good set of speakers 1st though (a sub would b a good idea), as missing the bass-line would b missing 1/2 the beauty of this spectacular album.

IT'S 3030!! Don't Sleep on this album!.......2006-08-30

The unparalled production and captivating lyrics of Deltron 3030 is nothing I've ever heard before. Del, Dan the Automator, and Kid Koala come together to make art out of music, something that unfortunately many of today's so-called "hip hop artists" lack.

If you want to take a break from your "h-s in different area codes", I encourage to check this timeless album out!

Definitely check out "Time Keeps Slipping." It's one of my favorite tracks in the entire album. I know the lyrics to the entire song because Del's flow is so catchy. Enjoy!

I recommend to save your money & pass this one up. I think everyone is jockin' DEL because of what he has released prior to this project. It really isn't that hot! I heard a DELTRON DIS from some underground kids that was alot better than most of the tracks on this CD. The crew that dissed them was called AUDIO DIRECT & they ripped it pretty good. You can check them out... As far as DELTRON, alot of the beats are what keep this album alive, not the flows( I guess thats why they released an instrumental CD).

This album, to describe it in two words, is simply amazing!! how could you go wrong with the automator, del, and kid koala? you really have to hear it for yourself, so check it out! seriouslly!

The Mind Expansion Kit.......2000-10-04

Automator, I'm gonna name my children after you! On Deltron 3030, The Automater takes hiphop to a new level, again. You may remember his last album, the one with Kool Keith? Dr.Octagon? hmmmm? of course you do, it was the most revolutionary hiphop cd ever created. Instead of using tripped out "mad scientist" beats on Deltron 3030, automator blows our mind with a cd packed full of outer-space/inner-space/hallucinigenic type stuff. Perfecty perfect, Mozart couldn't have comoposed more wonderous sound arrangments. And instead of Kool Keith on the Mic (which I love, don't get me wrong) Del tha funky homosapein (aka Deltron) lends his talent to automator's space opera. Del's rhymes are beyond superb, their inhuman, super mutant type rapping. It sounds like a perfectly engineered robot was created just to rock the mic, amnd rock it he does. And, too make a good thing even better, there are some guest appearences by some very talented vocalists (sean lennon etc). Buy this album, it is one purchase you will never regret.

Del does it again.......2000-10-01

The combo of Automator on beats, Kid Koala on scratching, and Del on the mic is too good to pass up. This is better then Del's recent solo album and that album is unbeleivable. If yoru're down with West Coast rap, you'll already know who Del is. He was part of the famous collective Hieroglyphics and followed that up with 3 solo albums. Automator produced Kool Keith's outer space gynecologist concept album Dr.Octagonolygist This album resembles Dr. Octagon in Del's crazy word combinations, similar updated beats, and Kid Koala doing scratching instead of Shadow. Overall 90% is dope beats, even better lyrics, and actually interesting skits.
