About the Artist
FLAT-TIES, which means Freedom Lies Amongst The Thought In Every Soul, consist of four guys with a Goodie Mob and Outkast flavor all roll up in one. They have appeared with Goodie Mob twice in concert. The group members are: Low, Bone, Twig, and Tree(who are twins). These guys have that southern flavor that will get you out of your seat in the club. All lyrics are written by each group member. All music is original no samples of someone else music. The music is composed by a duo pair of producers; Jerome Jones aka "DJ Jerome" and Marcus Sibert aka "Si", which make up the Way 2 Tight label.

5 out of 5 stars The best triple six album.......2007-04-20

If you look at every Three 6 album from Mystic Stylez to Most Known Unknown, each one is a little more polished and a little less raw than the last. This is the one that gets the rawness/polish balance just right. It still has that underground dangerous feel, but the production is far better than the very lo-fi Mystic Stylez. The later albums Chapter 2 and When the Smoke Clears are great albums, but they are too clean sounding. This is the first one that should be on your list.

5 out of 5 stars Three 6's greatest? Arguably, but a classic no matter what........2006-10-20

Three 6 Mafia came back after their classic debut LP, Mystic Stylez, and released an equally classic sophomore album. Is this better than Mystic Stylez? It's hard to say. While the production is cleaner, it also isn't quite as dark as its predecessor; at the same time, it's still darker than a solar eclipse.

Three 6 traded in some of their dark-ritual lyrics from some street tales, and it worked well on this album. While their malevolent messages remain from Mystic Stylez, on this release, they're a bit more firmly established in reality; and their reality is nearly as solemn as their fantasies. Spine-tingling lyrics remain, regretful tales are told, and production is still handled by DJ Paul and Juicy J; as it would be on all T6M releases. Their production actually changed much more than Three 6's lyric stylings; they went for a more epic, some would say even cinematic, approach on this album, and it worked very well. The beats on In-2-Deep and Late Nite Tip will have the hair on your arms raised, and goosebumps running down your legs.

While this isn't drastically different than Mystic Stylez, Three 6 Mafia kept with a successful formula, and released another classic album. It's not better, nor worse than Mystic Stylez; but it is a great mate for that album. While the guys(and gal) were growing as artists, this album doesn't present a dramatic turning point, but a slight change; and if you're appreciated any of T6M's releases, or enjoy the Southern/Mid-West style, this is for you.

This is the best rap album i've ever heard, period. It's the best Three 6 album, second is Chapter 2:World Domination and then Mystic Styles. Three 6 is better than anyone, better than 2pac better than Eminem. They're known for their dark and eerie sound and violent lyrics. Hardcore rap. Not that pop stuff you hear nowadays like Nelly,Chingy,50 Cent and trust me alot more. Its finally good to see Three 6 get some notice and doin really well now. Of course they don't sound anything like they used to, well they had to change or they werent going to get recognized(their sound back then wasnt really appropriate for radio and MTV), so I understand. But anyways i really recommend this album for any rap fan, its a classic.

5 out of 5 stars Phat Album, Get Ya Robes and Hoods On and Blast This Joint.......2007-07-05

1998, Houston's Black Monks drop No Mercy, a long-awaited folow-up to 1994's Secrets Of The Hidden Temple. Now what distinguishes this album from Secrets..., is the production. Both albums have neat and original lyricism, but No Mercy has much better production. The beats are smoother and more melodic. John Bido, Wendell Springer, Pedewestra, Jerry Muhammad, and Itche all produce some phat beats. Lyrically, these cats, 3-2, AWOL, Raheem, D.A., and Storm drop more of those jungle style metaphors and make the album interesting. "Jungle Funk" is a nice, fun, bouncy G-Funk joint perfect for lowriding. The laidback "Natural Herbs & Spices" is phenomenal. The vibe is relaxed; the beat is so laidback and cool, it deserves classic status by the beat itself. It reminds me of G-Funk from a few years before (mid-90's). Another G-Funk scorcher is "Paper Chase" which is fun to listen to, and definitely stands among the best among southern rap joints. "Steppin With Your Weapon" is also phat; the beat slaps with that southern-fried funk with some gangstafied spits. Can you imagine a gorilla splittin wigs? Well, here, you can! If you want an album with some different imagery and lyricism and great beats, look no further.

5 out of 5 stars Smooth as Honey !.......2002-02-06

I am not a big Rap fun - BUT this rocks me! as does their other album Secrets of the Hidden Temple. If there was such a thing as soul Rap then this would be in that grouping. As is its a bunch of very clever lyrics that really are pure poetry. No mindless words here, none of the usual tripe such as putting woman down etc... these guys are empowering and at the same time street wise. Not to mention I want to dance and sing along if I can keep up! also I have to add these guys know to sing. Get them, just wish they would come out with more!!

5 out of 5 stars best.......2007-01-18

let's just say like this,i got bout 900 rapcds here at home, and this one is in my top5!! can't believe how tight this cd is,gb's flow and blackout as producer, can't go wrong!! ------where's blackout??

5 out of 5 stars All This Hatin'..........2005-01-23

I can't believe all this hatin' that i'm seein here. this cd is Gangsta Blac's best CD and a true Memphis and Southern Classic.

Gangsta Blac stays hard, but he also brings some great lyrical depth (especially on "in da beginning" and "da hymn"). He stays about his lyrics and he still flows excellently thoughout the whole album. And, of course, GB has a great voice. The guest appearances by the one and only Playa Fly make this album even better. The laid-back production by Blackout is on point, too.

Gangsta Blac keeps it real...keeps it intelligent and avoids the tropes of typical rap, unlike three six. G.B. will never sell like Three Six, but at least he isn't a goddamn sellout like they are. After what they did, Fly and GB were right to diss them and especially to leave them. They are true to themselves, to the game...unlike 3-6.

Further...GB and Fly ain't cousins, i dunno where you heard that, manne.

I believe that gangsta blac had it good at first, then his as$ messed his own self up by going against the best ( 3-6 )yeah boy, ya heard me! If playa fl would've kept his mouth shut and quit hatin on all of his cd's, then maybe they would get somwhere---well, maybe not but at least they wouldn't be diggin their grave like they are now.

this was probly the tightest Prophet solo joint. His underground solo was dope, but he sounds hella grown up compared to that one. I like the original version of Powder (on this cd) better than the Lil E remix...

Rap A Lot has put out so many classics it's unreal. This album is a top 10 RAL album of all time, easily. This group brought a different and refreshing sound to the rap game in the mid 90's. John Bido straight blessed this cd with nothing but fire. The title track and Rumble In The Jungle are amazing songs. There are no wack songs on this cd and can be played all the way through with tremendous replay value. This is a must have for your collection.

Then I heard a single off the cd SOUTH PARKWAY which is one

I have yet to listen again to the rest of the cd over, but

if the other songs sound anything like SOUTH PARKWAY then

the whole cd may be tight. Most people who know about music

know that if you rush to listen to a cd with many songs it

is possible to skip over very good tracks because the sound

is very diverse to your ears when listening fast.

Not gonna say much about this one. This album shows GB's true skills as a rap artist. I really like it because it reminds me of the old school tapes I have from back in the day. Why did it get a four? The man talks too much. On just about every track he is talking or there is some kind of skit for 15 to 30 seconds. Sure it is cool at first, but after I've heard it 5 times I just want to hear some crunk ... music, not him talking.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Return to Greatness for Memphis.......2005-01-23

GB brought back the old-school Memphis sound for this album, to produced the best nationwide CD from Memphis since Fly2K.

Throughout the entire album, G.B. shows what a veteran he is by bringing some true wisdom with his lyrics. His flow and voice remain as great as always. The production by several producers is solid while cats like Mac E and especially Playa Fly make nice guest appearances. Lil' Gain drops some nice lyrics too.

All in all, Gangsta Blac really has something to say and he says it well. "Da Undaground King" is truly one of the game's most underrated rappers, and I highly urge all southern fans to try this album

BEST SONGS: My House, Tell 'Em Where Ya From, Fly & Blac, WAR, Gone Lay It Down, Hard But Itz Fair, Talk About It, Head Low, Gangsta Walk, and Who Cared. The best track is Head Low...true classic. Every song except "Talk 2 me now" is good.
