Editorial Reviews
For the past 4 years, the Elohim Team has grown as a collective through touring, recording, and reaching out to the community. The Team has also seen a gradual increase in the level of product availability, including retailers such as Amazon.com and others. The Elohim Team consists of gospel artists: The NATURALFORCEMEN (group members: LU and Big Ron), Shimon and Chozen.
The story of the Elohim Team begins in the city of Elizabeth, NJ. There the Team participated in the church music program learning various aspects of music such playing the drums and live sound. A love of music as a whole began to develop as the Team started to write their own music at the tender age of 11. As Hip Hop began to take a turn, the Team was influenced by the sounds of The Fugees, The Roots, and others.
In 1996, while attending Southeastern College AG in Lakeland FL, Lu began to form a vision for a gospel Hip Hop group which would bridge the gap between traditional gospel and Hip Hop. He started to pursue this vision by enrolling in the student ministry program at Southeastern College. The student ministry program traveled up and down the east coast to perform concerts and reach out to the community. It was in this program that Lu began to form a vision of the Elohim Team.
After Lu returned to New Jersey, the Team began to make music together again. Upon recording the album "We Praise The Most High", the Team began to receive requests to carry the album in retail stores and to perform concerts. As the concert schedule picked up to a frenzy, CD sales were also doing well. The Team found themselves outselling established gospel rap artists in some stores.
In 2001, Chozen began his student ministry program in South Africa. There he assisted in building churches, roads and more. He took part in the local music scene by rapping to the sounds of African drums. African Tribes and South African people alike embraced the American named Chozen and welcomed him to events to perform his different brand of Hip Hop.
In 2001, the Team followed in the paths of many other successful gospel artists and participated in the 2001 Seminar in the Rockies sponsored by the Gospel Music Association. A music track produced by the Team placed 6th out of 682 entries in the Contemporary Christian genre. This accomplishment raised the confidence of the Team and motivated the Team to move forward.
In 2002, the Team took part in the Academy of Gospel Music Arts sponsored by the Gospel Music Association. The academy taught classes on music production, music business, and also on what music labels are interested in. This was an educational and positive step forward for the Team.
Now the Elohim Team gets set to release a second album entitled "We Praise The Most High Volume 2". Fans have expressed their anticipation for more music and the Team plans to deliver. While the concert schedule continues to increase, the Elohim Team takes it as a blessing and continues to fulfill the vision.
