Rockin' and eclectic, this Austin quintet aims to brighten honky-tonk nights with their fifth album, Wicked Twisted Road. Sure, there's a sense of regret in the opening title track and "Dogtown"--mostly for squandered youth and aspirations--but Celtic fiddle lines and singer Willie Braun's lilting melody makes the tour story "Seven Nights in Eire" a genuine pub song, and "Motel Cowboy Show" celebrates all-night boozin' and lovin' with hot pickin' and a rollicking drum beat. A revving motorcycle kicks off the bad -boy-on-the-run stomp "Sixgun." And there are bad girls, too, like the cruel lover who's "bitter and sweet as a death-row meal" in "Nobody Haunts Me Like You." There's also no shortage of big guitars, growling through half of these numbers and happily rubbing up against the spiky blues harmonica of the post-breakup slammer "Wretched Again." The album winds down with a lovely acoustic instrumental version of the title track--proof that even a wicked twisted road dotted with robberies, heartbreak, and drunkenness can turn back home, peacefully, again. --Ted Drozdowski

4 out of 5 stars Good mix of Country and Alternative.......2007-03-27

When I hear this album I can't help but think a little of REM in their early days--when they were still good.

5 out of 5 stars Reckless Kelly Rocks My World .......2006-08-28

A friend of mine (now my fiance!) turned me onto Reckless Kelly about three years ago. What started out as borrowing one CD quickly transformed into me buying all their CDs at a concert in Atlanta. Unfortunately, Willie and the boys don't make it to Georgia nearly often enough for our tastes... but in between gigs, this CD has a regular home in my car stereo.

I seriously think that Reckless Kelly is one of the best bands ever! They are definitely at the top of the alt.country heap, that's for certain!

Great musicians, all of them... fun/great lyrics... awesome live shows. Absolutely one of my top five albums. I may even walk down the aisle to the reprise of Wicked Twisted Road. Gotta see if I can convince the Catholic priest to let me play it in the church!

5 out of 5 stars Irish meets Texas.......2006-05-10

Willie Braun's vocal is rich and smooth, much like a certain rem singer. The guitars, fiddle and much of a vocal has a strong Gaelic flavor. Add to that the complex arrangements, the Texas independent spirit in concert with the beauty of Willie's singing and you will buy all RK's music as I have. Wicked Twisted Road is a great place to start.

5 out of 5 stars Great Band, Great CD........2005-09-07

Doesn't get much better than this folks. If you're into americana, roots-rock, or alt-country, or if simply like good music, I just can't imagine you not liking this. Highlights for me are the title track, "Dogtown", and "Baby's Got a Whole Lot More", but there's not a bad song on here. Can't beat the awesome packaging, either- they even included a board game (see website for drinking rules). Don't pass this one up. Check out their incredible previous album, too, and also their younger brothers' band called Micky and the Motorcars.

5 out of 5 stars wicked,but not twisted music!.......2005-06-11

I can't take this disc out of my player! it's one of the best in a long time and it proves that Gram Parsons still influences todays country music! well, this album has just about everything you could want, intelligent lyrics, expert musicianship and songs that run the gammit, Irish to an all out rocker!, not a weak song on the disc! it's a new album and I can't wait for a new one! hurry please!

Influenced by New York punk bands like the Ramones and Dictators, as well as by traditional heavy metal ensembles, Twisted Sister created brash, simple songs that buzzed with subversive energy, giving the band the appeal of bad-boy cartoon characters. Their third album, Stay Hungry, featured the classic rebel anthem "We're Not Gonna Take It" as well as more uptempo tracks like "Burn in Hell" and "S.M.F." (which, in true metal fashion, stands for "Sick Motherfucker"). No one disputes Twisted Sister's competence level. Simply put, they couldn't play well enough to save their five-year recording career, but frontman Dee Snider's outrageous stage presence and accidentally hilarious lyrics ensured that their time in the limelight was thoroughly entertaining. --Jon Wiederhorn

Can't really explain why I'm tinto these guys since I'm primarilly into Hip Hop but I grew up on their videos!

5 out of 5 stars Don't Knock It Until You've Tried It!!!!.......2007-02-15

You know, it's funny. Most of the people I've run into who trash Twisted Sister do so not so much b/c of the music, but the image. I myself was at one time guilty of this. But if you can move beyond the hideous make-up/costumes and the fact that the band only take themselves seriously about half the time, then you'll discover a truly underappreciated classic in Stay Hungry. TS' music is not about complex song structures or virtuoso musicianship. It's just good, clean and straightforward hard rockin fun, and that is something that is sorely missing in today's music. While the image is a mix of shock rock (Alice Cooper) and glam (New York Dolls), the music is more akin to early speed metal and NWOBHM. And while the songs are consistently hard and heavy, you may be suprised by the level of melodic content that exists as well. Dee Snider, for instance, may not be on the level of vocal gods like Dio, Halford, Dickinson, etc. but he is by far a capable singer and his lyrics are even quite intelligent at times. It should also be noted that the vast majority of the material is written by Mr. Snider alone. Anyway, give Stay Hungry a try. Get over your obsession with expecting music (especially metal) to always be serious and technically impressive, and then sit back and enjoy a solid set of classic metal anthems.

5 out of 5 stars Holy Crap! Forgot all about this one!.......2006-10-03

I had this casette way back when. I was a juvenile rocker when it came out, I was young and dumb and embarrassingly goofy. Now I'm almost 40 and listen to a very wide variety of music. I happened to be at a friend's house and saw that he had this CD. I played it and couldn't believe the A+ songs on it. I'd always remembered Twisted Sister as some sort of gimmicky glam band that I'd listened to as a child.

I still think "We're not Gonna Take It" is a bit over the top, but "Burn in Hell" and "I Wanna Rock" are rock solid songs. "Stay Hungry" reminded me of Y&T - and I rate Dave Meniketti as one of the greatest. "The Price" is an achingly ripping ballad. What vocals!

Well, I didn't skip through any of the songs (at the friend's house) and I bought the CD from Amazon 2 days later. This one only got better with age.

4 out of 5 stars My very first album.......2006-09-24

This was my very first album I got when I was like 5 years old as a kid in the 80s. Whether it's their hilarously chessey music videos or their gruesome appearance, I still kept a morbid curiosity interest in Twisted Sister to this day and last night saw Dee Snider sing on TV. Dee Snider is a big celebrity and actually I think he has pretty decent taste, if only their videos didn't date so bad. This contains a number of classic tracks like the itle track, We're Not Gonna Take It, Burn in Hell, The Beast and S.M.F. While the band may be unintentionally funny, the music works not only as a nostalgia trip but for Dee Snider's celebrity come back, coming off as bad bone Christian metal without being corny about it like Stryper. Yes, Dee Snider testified at the PMRC hearing that he's a Christian believe or not, and I've been attending church regularly lately so know for a fact that that is true. Take it with some self depricating humor because Dee Snider made a comeback in the late 90s and is still a big star.

5 out of 5 stars Stay Hungry (1984).......2006-09-01

While many people know Twisted Sister best, for "We're Got Gonna Take it" and "I Wanna Rock", they had more to offer than just those two songs. Stay Hungry is a very solid metal album. This is one of those albums that demands to be played loud. From the opener "Stay Hungry" through "S.M.F." the album never gets dull. Besides the obivious hits other highlights include the title track, The Price, Horror Teria, Don't Let Me Down, but the album as a whole is very enjoyable. It's to bad that they couldn't maintain their popularity after Stay Hungry, cause Twisted Sister was actually a pretty good band. This album deserves a spot in any reall rock n roll collection.

Essentially a live greatest-hits package, 'Live' Trucker, recorded before several different Detroit-area crowds, reminds us not only that Kid has long been an entertainer first and songwriter second but that he can surprise even the most jaded listener at the most unexpected moment. He works the urban hillbilly angle to the hilt, gives shouts out to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Cobo Hall and offers hope to disenfranchised kids in crummy apartment complexes and trailer parks from sea to shining sea via "Rock 'n' Roll Pain Train" and "American Bad Ass." Although the last name is Rock, Kid's never been afraid of letting a little bit of honky tonk piano into the mix or blending classic southern soul and the heaviest of rap 'n' roll as he does in "Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp." He's also not opposed to revealing his deep and apparently authentic affinity for country, something he does during the touching "Picture" with his Nashville counterpart Gretchen Wilson. Ultimately, 'Live' Trucker rises above the usual stopgap status of live and greatest hits recordings and stands tall, a statue of redneck rebellion, and reveals that Kid Rock's just getting started. --Jedd Beaudoin

1 out of 5 stars The sad clown.......2006-11-29

I had the misfortune to hear a few selected tracks and I all I can do is laugh! This limp artist continues to bore us with tepid, bland muzak. The Kid is like a nagging cough and his "music" is the phlegm that gets spit up...over and over. He truly has become a mere sad clown whose schtick has been overplayed for years now. When the dwarf died, so did the "little" talent that once existed.

5 out of 5 stars MY NAME IS KIDDDDDD.....KIDDDD ROCK!!!!!.......2006-11-13

This album is absolutely amazing. Kid Rock is by far my favorite musician of all time! He can do everything. Rock, Rap, Country, Blues, etc. He does it all and he does it well. If your a Kid Rock fan you must have this album. If you have an upgraded sound system in your vehicle even better. Turn up the volume and forget all your little problems while Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band puts your speakers through the works! 100% recommended.

5 out of 5 stars THE KID ROCKS!!!.......2006-07-11

I was hesitant in buying this CD because it was live. Usually live CDs don't do it for me, but this one is amazing! I've listened to it over and over and over and over.....

4 out of 5 stars Twisted Sister - 'Twisted Christmas' (Razor & Tie) .......2007-06-10

Review no. 60. I'll give this CD a four-star rating for effort alone. I mean, when I first heard about this ten track release in advance, I really didn't think that Dee Snider and crew could pull it off. Glad to see that I was wrong. Wanted to catch Twisted Sister last time they were in my town but I didn't get to go. If I ever get to see them again, I really would like to hear them perform one or two of these cuts even on a summer tour. Tunes I was impressed the most with were "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful", "White Christmas", "Silver Bells", the rocking "Deck The Halls" and "The Christmas Song". Personally, I think even patrons that don't usually like metal would enjoy this disc to some extent. A should-have.

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE this Christian music christmas album!!!.......2007-05-07

Twisted Sister BRINGS the christmas feeling year round. (This is a CD to be listened to at any time of the year.) When I listen to it, it makes me feel better. "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" are my favorite songs. Overall, it is an excellent CD. Now, if Twisted Sister would just make another Christian music christmas album for Christmas 2007, then I would be overjoyed.

5 out of 5 stars I loved it.......2007-04-25

I think this album contains my favorite version of "O Come All Ye Faithful." Seriously.

4 out of 5 stars Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted.......2007-02-15

The Good
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" starts off as if the group has softened in their old age. Eventually someone reminds them who they are and the Christmas classic gets pumped up. They even add a Ramones inspired section at the end. "O Come All Ye Faithful" sounds just like "We're Not Gonna Take It;" from the main riff to the note-for-note solo. Twisted Sister's version of "White Christmas" is a far cry from Bing Crosby's. The chugga-chugga riffing and blazing solos are just one of the many differences. A voice from the past is resurrected for the power ballad version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Dee Snider trades vocals with 80s metal queen Lita Ford on this one. It's almost as if "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" was meant to be a metal song. Everything just falls into place. "The Christmas Song" has sort of that "Burn in Hell" vibe to it.

The Bad
"Heavy Metal Christmas," set to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," is kind of lame as the 12 gifts are replaced with metal clichés.

The Verdict
Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted, but it's also really fun and enjoyable for 80s metal fans.

4 out of 5 stars Cover doesn't say "GREATEST HITS".......2006-11-21

I have been a huge Twisted fan for over 25 years. I watched them evolve from their small club dates in upstate New York to their immense popularity in the mid eighties. I sadly watched as internal turmoil tore this band apart in the late eighties, was pleasantly surprised by their collaboration for "Heroes Are Hards To Find" from Dee's Strangeland movie and impressed by their reunion after 9/11. It was like they never left. However, for those of you who disapprove of this recording, please see that the cover does not say "Greatest Hits". Twisted was not about "greatest hits". They were about great music. Sure, they could have included great cuts like "Come Out And Play" or "Wake Up (the Sleeping Giant" (which may be, admittedly, one of their best tracks). However, they included several "live" tracks which is what makes them special. If you have never seen a "live" show, catch them before it is too late. They are the rare band who are amazing "live". Studio recordings do not do them justice. Okay, so not all of their best songs are included here. If you want all their great music, suck it up and buy their other CD's. You won't regret it. But, what IS here is what they were all about... great band and great music. Live on SMF's...

4 out of 5 stars Twisted Sister Rocks!.......2006-08-30

In continuation of the so-called Reagen Rock years, this compilation lives up to its name. Who doesn't love the groove from "I Wanna Rock"?

5 out of 5 stars It is what it says it is........2006-01-26

People, the name of the CD is "big Hits and Nasty Cuts", not "Twisted Sister's Greatest Hits and Nothing else." As a loooooong time Ts fan, I love the fact that this CD represents the full picture of the band. Sure, they had some huge hits in the hayday of hair metal, but in the late 70s and early 80s, they were one of the most vicious live acts around in terms of their intensity. the live tracks recorded at the Marquee Club in London show just how intense they were before their radio-friendly hits were recorded. I think the name of the CD says it all and no one should be surprised at what they are getting when they buy it. The Cd has equal helpings of their most well-known hits, as well as just enough early live stuff to show you what they sounded like before they were the darlings of MTV.

Caffey conceived and directed Three Mo' Tenors, bringing greater visibility to the classically trained African American voice. Starring seasoned tenors Roderick Dixon, Thomas Young, and Victor Trent Cook, Three Mo' Tenors is a theatrically staged concert set taped for public television's Great Performances. A companion to the taped show, the disc features just over an hour of live music from it. The phenomenal showmanship of Dixon, Young, and Trent Cook takes shape in the styles of opera, Broadway, blues, jazz, soul, spirituals, and gospel. The three virtuosos hit high C's with clarity and brilliance; scat with grace and grit; belt, bend and hold a note to beat the band. They move the audience to a state of near-ecstasy performing the traditional "Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord)" and Puccini's glorious "Nessum Dorma." Other standouts include the jazz classic "Twisted," a rollicking version of "Today I Sing the Blues," and the salty "Minnie the Moocher." Boisterous, bold, and bountiful, Three Mo' Tenors is a modern classic. --Paige LaGrone

5 out of 5 stars Bravo! Mo' Mo' Mo'.......2006-05-13

The word "Mo'" in the title got my attention. I bought the CD to compare it to the already popular "Three Tenors" (Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). Wow! Was I surprised. I had expected an all opera, classical and possibly spiritual repetoire. But, the music varies from "Nessun Dorma" to "Love Train" was truly, truly delightful. I enjoyed the wonderful voices of Thomas Young, Roderick Dixon, and Victor Trent Cook and the variety of musical selections so much that I purchased several other copies for my family and friends. Then, several months later, I saw their performance on PBS. I immediately ordered the VHS offered by the TV station, paying way, way over the retail price. But, I had to have it. It was, and is, the most exciting musical performance that I have seen. Later, when I put the tape into the player at my son's house, my 5-year-old granddaughter Ciara stood next to the sofa to watch. I expected her to move away soon, but, she stood there, during the entire playback of the performance, and I do mean from beginning to end. I left the tape there so that son could see it later. The following day, and for most days during the next several weeks, Ciara asked to have the tape played, until she later was taught to handle it herself. The family has since replaced my VHS with the DVD so that now, when Ciara visits me, we can watch the show again (and again). "Three Mo' Tenors" was so surprisingly wonderful- with great voices, charismatic personalities, terrific orchestral arrangements, lively and precisely choreographed routines, and just an overall feeling of mutual admiration and respect among the three gentlemen. The beautiful cinematics, with frequently interspersed shots of the enthusiatic audience, contributes to the feeling that I am actually there at the concert. Every time I watch it, I see and hear something new. When I first heard the CD, I was not fascinated by the countertenor voice. After seeing Victor Trent Cook's heartwarming performance on the DVD, and hearing his comment about his mother's definition of a countertenor, I have been granted a new appreciation for his voice. Here it is, years later, and I'm still enamored, remembering Roderick Dixon's "Make Them Hear You" elicits tears, Thomas Young's "Twisted" makes me laugh, and the duet with Victor and Thomas (see, I'm now on first-name basis with them) is so beautiful. I could to on and on. In fact, it's time for another listen.

5 out of 5 stars This is a must have for any music lover!.......2006-01-07

I would rate this CD more than five stars if I could! I picked up this CD not knowing anything about these guys, but, knowing that I liked some of the songs contained on it. I was absolutely blown away by this collection! These guys have it all. Voices, talent, showmanship, style, technique, etc. Everytime I listen to it, I feel like I'm sitting right there in the theatre. I am a huge fan of opera, jazz and gospel. This CD covers it all! Although my favorite tracks are La Donna e Mobile, Make Them Hear You, and Nessun Dorma, they are all so good! I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again. You have to hear them to believe them!

5 out of 5 stars wonderful collection of music.......2005-08-23

A good album is one that can't be categorized neatly. Three Mo' Tenors tackles classic opera, Broadway tunes and other genres with ease. They have beautiful voices, and the music they choose to interpret is so universal that even my toddler girl loves listening to it! Their technical expertise combined with their stage presence and charisma makes for an enjoyable cd. Highly recommended - especially if you are looking to introduce yourself or your children to different musical genres.

5 out of 5 stars awesome music selection.......2005-08-02

These are amazing musical selections and amazing vocalists; a must-have for any well-rounded music collection. This trio can really sing!

4 out of 5 stars They Left Out The Best Song.......2004-11-11

One of my most favorite performance DVD's, but how, or why, on earth did they leave off the most stiring single number on the CD - "A Song For You," by Rodrick Dixon?

Put it in, and it's a "five."

5 out of 5 stars Sing It, Girlfriend!.......2007-05-25

Can't believe it is 2007 and I have only just discovered this GEM of a CD. I love the 'whole album' statement, where a story thread runs through the song cycles, Jane Siberry-like (When I Was A Boy). While I like the opening songs very much, this CD really takes off for me at Tic Toc, and just soars from that point onward. Unlike some other reviewers, I love "Sign Of Life." For anyone who's ever been knocked around by life a bit and picked themselves up again, you'll relate. "Love is an Army"? A small slice of magic. The aural effects, like the water at the end of "Review My Kisses," are thoughtful, lovely touches. Leann, would love to hear you stretch out like this again. You go, girl!!!

4 out of 5 stars die-hard country fans stay away...it's a new kind of pop.......2006-11-03

First off-don't compare this album in whole to anything else. There is something to be said for an artist who goes in a whole new direction, as Leann did here. This is one of my fave albums of all time because it's MEANINGFUL POP. There are some hints of rock, some hints of R&B, and lots of pop(the Britney-esque "Tic Toc" especially) and it's all sung by one of the most beautiful voices in the industry.
Leann gives us a couple of coming-of-age numbers like the electric guitar laced "Suddenly" and the title track, which is slightly Christina Aguilera-like in it's soulful convictions.
Ballads are plentiful, like "The Safest Place", "Love is an Army", and "Review My Kisses". We all know Leann can belt out a love song, and these are no different.
"Life Goes On", the seemingly-autobiographical "Wound Up", and "No Way Out" are the other strong pop tracks here.
"Trouble With Goodbye" and "Sign of Life" are the weakest tracks here, both in production value that borders on overly-whimsical and lyrics that are forgettable.
Again, if you're looking for a shred of country Leann, don't get this CD. Fans of Britney, Kylie, or other pop acts who might be looking for something a bit more mature and meaningful with less electronic and more guitar and drums should check it out. The bottom line is, this album is a new kind of pop sung by an incredible voice.

5 out of 5 stars Life Goes On...So Does the Music.......2006-04-06

I am so happy for LeAnn Rimes...she has been a great country artist for years, now she is moving on and uses pop and rock in her music. Surely the hits "Life Goes on" and "Suddenly" are the best-known from this album but this album has even more to give: "Wound up", "The Safest Place", "Trouble with Goodbye", "Tic Toc", "Review My Kisses", "You Made Me Find Myself"...actually all the songs are very good and it is hard to pick the best songs. "Tic Toc" reminds me of Kylie Minogue. Well, the album is 10 % country, 50 % pop and 40 % rock music.
Stars: Life Goes On, Suddenly, The Safest Place, Tic Toc, Trouble with Goodbye

5 out of 5 stars Why Do People Have Such A Problem With This Album? .......2006-02-24

Let's get one thing out of the way. Yes, LeAnn did get her first hit and her gateway to stardom with her country song, "Blue." Britney also got her first hit and stardom with her song "...Baby One More Time." Britney changed with the times and her music got a little more...uh...provacative? So when LeAnn decided to go a little more pop and rock on Twisted Angel, why did people insist that she just turned her back on her fans? For people who swear she did this transformation over night - think again. On I Need You, she did drop hints of crossing over more pop with her irresitible ballad "I Need You" and the toe tapping dance craze of "Can't Fight the Moonlight." Twisted Angel is definately an achievement for LeAnn, rather than a setback that she needs to prove herself better on her next album. "Life Goes On" is an irresistible pop number laced with a nice guitar that should have done much better on the charts. As well as her vocal powerhouse ballads "Damn" and "The Safest Place," as well as her easy listening rock pop ballad "Suddenly." Yes, there are some misteps here, like any album. "Tic Toc" was definately a filler and was way too R&B for someone with LeAnn's vocal abilities. Even the sexed up lyrics couldn't savage this forgettable number.
Unfortunately, LeAnn could not emerge herself as a pop artist and had to please the audiences with This Woman, which is giving her great reviews. No matter if it is pop or country, LeAnn is still a great singer and should not be categorized simply because she is expanding her musical tastes. Musical tastes, by the way, which she has helped written and produced. So to all those haters LeAnn, you were great at the pop biz!

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC.......2006-01-26

Nearly 4 years later and I still listen to this...OFTEN. LeAnn branched-out and it was an amazing effort. Too bad people didn't take notice. She has had HUGE cross-over hits, but evidently people weren't ready for a full album. Go get this, you will learn that LeAnn is an artist on top of being a wonderful vocalist! I have turned this CD on to people who are not "country fans" and all of them love it.

LeAnn's voice is amazing and I would put her up there right along-side any of the "DIVA's" of today

3 out of 5 stars Some good humor; some only ok.......2007-01-04

IF you are into the spoofs, this CD is for you. The tunes tend to fit closely to the original songs and some songs (such as "How it Feels to be Old") hit my funny bone just right. Others seemed didn't quite work, and 2 OJ songs back-to-back didn't quite do it for me.

5 out of 5 stars Bob Rivers is the comedy king of the 1990's and on.......2002-07-02

Well, I finally found out why Weird Al Yankovic's creative output has diminished from say, 1993 to 1999, and I was laughing hard as a result. Al's position as parodymeister has been supplanted by Bob Rivers. I have a few of his Rivers' Twisted Tunes CDs and the 1990's were his decade in comparison to Weird Al, who had the 1980's as his heyday. Rivers seems to have a head start on 2000 as well. Clinton, O.J. Simpson, and the Balkans were his big targets. Dated true, but fun for nostalgia's sake.

His takes on songs go further than Weird Al did, which is, tastelessly non-PC at times and yes, twisted. He also has vocalists imitate the originals if possible, so that makes the parody funnier. Another difference between him and Yankovic is that the songs are one to two minute snippets. And the songs sometimes has profanities.

"Beat Up Old Jetliner," a take on the Steve Miller song, is about a decrepit airplane. It ends with the pilot announcing, "Ladies and gentlemen, I just turned off the no-smoking sign. "I figure, the plane's smoking so why shouldn't you?" Whoa!

The funniest song is a send-up on the Doors' "Hello, I Love You." That song becomes "Hello, I Love You (Let's Get Tested)" For what? AIDS. Now that's funny! Joan Osborne's "One Of Us" becomes "What If God Smokes Cannibus?" Key lyrics: "And do you think he rolls his own." "And when the saints go marhcing home, maybe he sits and smokes a bowl."

Now, I really enjoy KISS so I can appreciate the parody of "Rock And Roll All Night," which is "I Used To Rock And Roll All Night." Basically, it rips on KISS for reuniting and going back on the road with makeup. "We're putting on the makeup again/it covers up a bunch of wrinkled skin" And the chorus: "I used to rock and roll all night/but now my hair's turning gray/"I have to get to bed by nine/rub in a tube of Ben Gay." Now that's really funny!

Two Beatles tunes are ribbed--"Getting Better" becomes "Getting Fatter All The Time" and "Eleanor Rigby" becomes "Officer Fuhrman"--"Heeee likes to set up coloured people." This is another highlight.

Speaking of O.J., "OJ's Trial Thing" is a take on Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing" which was of course a classic Troggs hit, full of Kinison's (his imitator, I mean) manic yelling.

I didn't take things too personally when Weird Al ribbed some things I liked, and the same goes for Bob Rivers. I figure, "hey, it's just a song, right?"

    3 out of 5 stars So-so production.......1998-11-10

Not the best of Bob Rivers, unfortunately... The O.J. jokes are quite dated by now, yet there are several on the album. My copy was stolen by accident, and while I would love to have it back, it isn't worth paying for it full price a second time.

5 out of 5 stars You'll love this album if you want to laugh.......1998-08-09

This is one funny album. I have played it to all my friends and they keep wanting to hear it over and over. You will think the beatles sang some of these titles, Like Ofcr Furman.

    2 out of 5 stars Blech.......1998-06-12

Okay, when I first picked up Twisted Christmas several years ago as a kid, it was great. The little kid singing about Santa Claus being stuck in the chimney, and the christmas song about deadhead were the kind of humor that best appeals to kids.

Now, however, Mister Rivers has lost it. I regret wasting the money on Twisted Tunes #2. If you want comedy/music combos, go with Weird Al or Doctor Demento collections.

I have all the Bob Rivers Christmas Albums and I love every one of them. I am a big collector of Christmas CD's and I'm impressed with the talent that Bob Rivers shows. He does more than put different lyrics to familer tunes; he duplicates the musical arraingments of the original recordings and even uses voice impersonators. I love his duet with "Bing Crosby and David Bowie"! I have the original "Little Drummer Boy" duet with Bing and David and the parody version nails the chorus perfectly! Check out his other twisted CD's.

I love singing along with Bob Rivers! When the shopping becomes a little harried the traffic is backed up to the next state, and you've heard "Blue Christmas" 100 times TOO MANY, these songs inject a little humor into the holiday. I'll just bet you feel like some of the songs were written just for you! NOT your traditional Christmas album, it will always have a place in my collection of Christmas music! (I like this CD better than his 2nd one.)
