this album is one of the best hip-hop has to offer in terms of klever word play, beats, and catchy metaphors.its so sad that this album is no longer on store shelves.i knew when i bought it originally back in 99 i should of bought an extra copy

4 out of 5 stars Hey Rawkus...You Wanna Put This Back On Shelves Now?? (Rating: 8 out of 10- -4 stars).......2007-03-08

This is where I first heard of Pharoahe Monch, back in 1999 when I saw the video "Simon Says". That song always got me pumped up, even today when I listen to it. Pharoahe Monch is always an excellent emcee, and no doubt he can really kick it on his solo debut "Internal Affairs". It's like every rhyme he kicks on this album seems to make perfect sense, and thats what I like about him. Even without his former partner Prince Poetry, Pharoahe Monch still can pull his own. Songs like "Behind Closed Doors" and "Rape" is why people love him so much.

Guest wise is excellent. The one who really kills it is Canibus on the song "Hell". You have to hear his verse to know what I'm talking about. M.O.P. comes in for the song "No Mercy". Busta Rhymes rhymes on the song "The Next Sh.." which sounds like a songs that could be played at a circus or such. Then there is a female named Apani on the song "The ***", who kicks rhymes like Jean Grae or such talented female lyricists. Then there is an Organized Konfusion song "God Send" as Pharoahe Monch teams up with Prince Poetry. Common and Talib Kweli drops in for "The Truth". And then there is the bonus song "Simon Says (Remix)" with Method Man, Redman, Lady Luck, Shabaam Sahdeeq, and Busta Rhymes, that actually sounds more dope than the origonal.

So overall Pharaohe Monch dropped an excellent album. If you're familiar with Organized Konfusion, then you'll probably like this album. It sucks that Rawkus let this go out of print. Actually it was pulled off of shelves because of unauthorized sampling on one track. I'm not sure if it was cleared or not, but Rawkus went under and was just resurrected. And since they've came back they didn't think to put this back on shelves. If they were smart, they would do that. But find this album if you can, because it would make an excellent addition to your collection.

5 out of 5 stars sick.......2006-11-15

Monch is one of the sickest mcs ever. His delivery might be the best in the industry, and his flow is up there with Pun, and Az. I have 2 of the 3 Organzied Konfusion albums, and those are really strong, but I actually like this solo album by Pharohe better. The harsh, street beats go better with his aggressive delivery. Monch absolutely murders every song, I cannot believe how overlooked he is. I'm not sure why the hate for Simon Says, it could be considered a 'club' song, but he destroys the track nontheless. The guest appearances also step up their game on this album, on Hell Canibus actually outshines Pharoe, though both drop really sick verses. On the remix to Simon Says Redman drops one of his best verses I"ve ever heard. But enough about the guests, Monch simply is raping tracks all day, on the track 'rape' he raps about how he does nothing but rape tracks. Definitely a buy if you are a fan of lyrics
5 star classic

5 out of 5 stars Too Bad Its Out of Print.......2006-04-13

Yo,I love this cd.Its one of my favorite underground albums, and I consider it one of the best in the underground. No wonder he is surpose to is going to Shady/Aftermath.He one of the best of this time. But now I hear he is going to The Inc??But he should get another album out, cause his debut was surperb.Pharoahe your fans are waiting?.$$

5 out of 5 stars Pharoahe the greatest.......2005-11-19

Pharoahe monch is easily the most underated rapper of all-time. Not only does he supply the listener with intricately weaved lyrical toungue twisters, but conscious rhymes that have a purpose also. This CD does not have any filler songs; only musical/ melodical masterpieces that keep you bobbing your head. What I don't understand is how more copies of this CD were not manufactured. It is officially underground, but features such mainstream mc's as Busta Rhymes, Common, mop, and many others. It is a must have album, so I suggest you buy it while you can.

4 out of 5 stars Don't Sleep on this one - BANGING!!.......2003-08-13

Now this, this is good. i don't believe i never picked up this album until so late. You might regret it to!!
Straight into it, these fellas bring so many styles into this, from the Dirty South, to the West, to a Salsa-ish vibe. best of all, they have a coupla tracks that are straight up banging R&B check out CAN'T LIVE and SWEET COMMUNION. Those two tracks alone can buy any R&B fan to pick this up. Back into the rap. tracks like SO MANY X's and ME AND YOU sound ready for any radio station anywhere - sultry sweet. Add in GOD IS GOOD and the hilarious RIDE TONIGHT and you have the makings of a fine album. this is excellent, pick it up!!

5 out of 5 stars Blazin Holy Hip Hop.......2003-07-19

The Righteous Riders are so hot. They're doing it really big on this cd. It was the first gospel rap cd I bought when I got saved. I was glad to see some mighty men of God steppin up and doing what the Lord has called them to do. Knowledge is my boi he holds it down and his lyrics are so hot. All them are hot I especially love So Many Times and Anything You Want. Those two songs are the hottest. But it's all bangin!!! I'm ready to get on so I can blaze with them. Word!!!

4 out of 5 stars Praise Him!.......2002-12-17

This is a very well put together album. I enjoyed the lyrical praise to Him from beginning to end. Well almost, #4 is the only one that I didn't enjoy as much as the rest. I look forward to hearing more great things from this... group.
