4 out of 5 stars Why is this 2 stars?!?!??!!?!?.......2005-06-10

I dunno whats wrong with heads

This album is AG's solo debut. He is reknowned for his work in the early 90's with partner in crime Showbiz in the group Showbiz & AG. They dropped 2 legendary hip hop albums. In 99 AG decided to drop a solo album which is understandable, he wanted to brand out.

This isn't a showbiz and AG album, so people shouldn't rate it as one. AG's skills are still there. His rhymes are dope on this- he tears it up on "All Eyes Seeing", and has a lot of clever ones to follow. The beats on here are pretty dope- it can't hurt to have Lord Finesse, Buckwild, and Diamond D provide the backdrop for your album, along with a few beats from Showbiz, Walli World and Ahmed from Wild Life.

This album is real thoro and if it was released in 2005 it would be looked at completely differently. Don't listen to the terrible reviews people on here are giving, they don't accurately portray the album nor do they help put money in AG's pocket- check out for his new solo album comin this or next year- This albums worth the $4 its going for on here- PEACE!

1 out of 5 stars What is this fluff where is the real stuff.......2005-02-07

"Underground life" is a nice cut but does not go well with the stuff from the old days of A.G. when he was with Showbiz."Nowhere to go" has a beat but goes no where with no rap at all that is good."Rock Star" could of fit on the 2 great albums prior to this one."Weed Scented" is good because it has Guru and Premier so they make that cut solid. But you know your album is in trouble when you have 5 non songs on your first 10 tracks."We do that" could have made the album phatter if this were on all of the tracks. Then there 2 more solo joints then comes a good song "Drop it heavy" which is a good beat and has KRS-One on it.As Phil said it is dumb to have references to Party Arty what does that mean."Ishims" samples the classic Suspecions but has bad lyrics."Kurupt money" has a nice beat but absolutely terrible rapping."Shoot em out" is not to bad. When you have 7 non songs out of the 1st 15 that is not to solid. The Lyrics were absolutely pathetic at least there were no lame party type beats but still this has no substance and no punch what so ever and is one of the worst compared the 2 with Showbiz on the boards who were from the beats,Rhymes and Life era. This rap is just from the crap era. Inexcusible and makes me wonder if A.G. was anything at all on the Mic ever.

1 out of 5 stars A horrid example of D.I.T.C.'s continued downward spiral..........2001-10-28

"Throw shots with my (...)/ take shots of Tequila/ my ice is ill-I'm Iller..."

OUCH.

This is a brilliant example of the 'top notch' wordplay that AG displays through much of this album. Where as the GOODFELLAS album highlighted AG's continued improvement on the Microphone (he came a long way from that high-pitch cat on Lord Finesse's first album), this album shows how far he's regressed. To make matters worse are the guests. Despite the fact that this is supposed to be an AG solo album, this is nothing but an excuse to push his crew of thugged out wannabe's, the GHETTO DWELLAZ clique, which includes a rapper that takes the award for the worst moniker of all time...PARTY ARTY!!!! Thing is, as bad as the GHETTO DWELLAZ are, the worst guest to ever appear on anybody's album goes to Cool Chuck. Now think of the worst rapper performance you have ever heard of in a pressed release, and I'll guarantee they will sound like PHAROAH MONCHE compared to Cool Chuck's horrible performance on this record! I'd rather even here SHOWBIZ himself get some mic time instead of Cool Chuck!
Productionwise, aside from some standouts like "Mudslide" and the obligatory Primo cut "Weed Scented", life without Show has not been kind to AG. "B.X.M.F." starts with the loop that was later used in Amil & Jay-Z's "The Roc" colab...then degenerates into an irritating rock track that AG DOESN'T EVEN APPEAR IN and Cool Chuck get the vast majority of mic time!!! To make things far worse, AG even has a song that rips off Stevie Wonders "Superstitions" P-Diddy style, an action that would have caused the DITC crew to get laughed at if they ever did this in 1992. "You wanna dance? Then dance to this", he says. Uh...no thanks.
My advice: Stay clear of this wasted piece of plastic. (This price) is too much for a drink coaster. Unless the AG album has the words Show or Showbiz on the cover, find something else to occupy your time.

2 out of 5 stars gettin dirty without showbiz just aint the same..........2000-11-25

I think that runaway slave was one of the best rap albums ever put out. their mix of soul heavy beats and tough inspiring lyrics kept me listening to it for 5 years. Then came "good fellas" which bought out rugged rough street rap at its finest, along with the DITC. In one of the Artifacts albums they said "you cant make AG without showbiz", and after listening to this album and DITC's album I agree. Ill admit tracks 1 and 2 are phat, but then the album really starts to die off. The lifestyle of a famous artist must have changed him, cause even though he still has his tight style he always had, in this album he talks constantly about money and (...) and (...) like that that I dont wanna hear. It just aint like it used to be... but if you liked the DITC album you might like this one... I didnt like either of them very much. AG if youre reading this get back with showbiz if u can..you guys were unstoppable.

4 out of 5 stars 3rd album is phat.......2000-07-08

This album is not as good as the second, but as far as what is coming out of late, I consider this to be a phat joint.

5 out of 5 stars Luda.......2005-03-14

I liked this cd, but since its edited, it doesnt have skits, and it sorta sucks cuz u cant hear any of the words. But, it has some awesome songs on it, like Welcome to Atlanta, which is part of the 15th track and "Growing Pains" with Lil Faith. All of the songs are pretty good and ludas fun to listen to. "Move B*tch" was sorta dissapointing cuz the whole spirit of the song was wrecked. I liked the edited sounds on some songs better with sound effects, instead of beeps or blanks. I dont like the deep voiced guy, but he usually picks good rappers to be featured in his songs. Ludacris is sometimes funny too. If you arent like 6 years old then i reccomend getting the PA version. I reccomend all of the other CDs, but I dont have "Back for the First Time", but i heard it was good. "The Red Light District" was ok but it wasnt as good as the other ones. I think that the earlier CDs are better than the later ones, maybe luda is losing his skills or something.

5 out of 5 stars Could Ludacris be better?.......2002-09-08

The cut verson was a little dissopointing, in tracks such as 'Rollout' and 'Move B***h', there was nothing to listen to. 'Area Codes' is by far the best song on the album - Nate Dogg was at his best on that. I've got the uncut version, and believe me, it's worth getting for just the skits. I stand by my descion for giving it 5 stars: it's GREAT. My advice, get the full one...

      5 out of 5 stars How can I explain?.......2001-10-26

I don't quite know how to put this, but let me try. BEAT CLUB RECORDS is one of the best sounds I have ever heard. This cd is absolutely staggering, spectacular, stunning, brilliant, magnificent, and remarkable. I never thought TIMBALAND was outstanding or anything, but this cd quickly revolutionized my perspective of him. His beats, rhythms, and tunes are out of this universe. With this cd, the hip-hop culture has been carried to a whole new level.

Now for BUBBA. Oh my goodness! Once again, I was taken by complete surprise. This guy is amazing, I mean top-notch! He has got skills and skills and skills, and more skills. The guest artists are excellent as well.

This cd hit me like a BOMBSHELL. There is not one less-than-extraordinary song on this cd. BEAT CLUB RECORDS is taking the hip-hop world by storm. I really didn't know that Tim had this much in him. The music, rapping, and singing is beyond what I have heard so far, way better than most. Tim really went all out. I can't say enough good things about this project. It is a real treasure, EASILY ONE OF THE BEST OF 2001.

Props to all those involved on this cd. It blew me away! And THANK-YOU FOR A CLEAN/EDITED VERSION.

Mann at first I wasn't fellin this CD, but the more I bumped it the more I like it. I'm Gansta and Work for you Daddy go hard in the paint, along with the Texas joint and some other. If you know what this Cat's is about then you know they gone "Crawl to Ball" with out Kevin crybaby. 5 out of 5 stars MY LIFE Double CD NonScrewed OUT in stores NOW!!!!.......2003-07-28

MY LIFE Double CD is out!!! Not Screwed. Hey...this yo boy Jerry and I wanted to say to all the previous comments about my boyz Pookie and Lucci, you all need to realize that they are not with Kevin A any more. That guy is did my boyz duty. They doin' their own thang now and TX, OK, LA, & TN love them. So bump what ya'll talkin bout. They still representin D-Town and ain't no stoppin them. The new ablum is off the chain.

            3 out of 5 stars Crooked Album.......2003-06-05

Mann, Mr. Lucci and Mr. Pookie go hard regardless, they music off the chain, but My Life ain't them. They ain't da same without them beats from Kevin A. They got they south style but on sumpthin' like a New York Beat. If I wanted to hear that, I move from Dallas to a damn Long Island or somethin. I hope ya'll boys come back with somethin southside, like a Texas Massacre 2003. Represent us well Misters.

3 out of 5 stars These boyz need to keep it CROOK.......2003-05-20

I give much props to Mr.Pookie and Mr.Lucci, but manna they fell off a little. This album was to short, then need to go back to their old record label. Manne, their first albums were tight, but this was is aiight. When they do come wit a new one, I hope its better then My Life. HOLLA.
