Wow, amazing.......2006-06-07

I can almost never give out 5 stars to CD's. I think I gave one to Atmosphere's new drop. All I know is I never heard of him, or any Canadian rapper. I downloaded the CD, and within a week bought 2 CD's from this guy. Some of the best, most origional rapping I have heard. Great production. Classified has amazing rhymes, delivery, and production, it makes an amazing CD. One of very few I highly recommend. You will not go wrong with this Can-uck. I have only listened to Trial and Error and Boy-Cott, but I would say buy Boy-cott and see what's up.

Classified Keeps Getting Better.......2005-08-27

This is by far my favorite Classified Cd, and I thought nothing could have beaten 'trial & error' but this CD did. Almost all the tracks were solid '10's. 5th element and both versions of Unexplainable Hunger were probably 11s. Class' producing skills are unmatched in Canada and this album gave his best production, with live guitars, fiddles, keyboards and bag pipes this CD as a very authentic sound. Many critics say that Classified is the voice of Canada's underground hip hop scene, and with his work here that title is very fitting.

Simply put this Cd is worth every dime you spend on it. It is too good to just copy from a friend or bootleg it in anyway. Classfied needs teh money and he deserves the money with his efforst on 'Boy-Cott-In The industry'

When it comes down to it, Classified is just a blue collard worker who's been trying to make it big in the music business for over 10 years. He produces his own beats and is a good lyricist, you have to respect him for doing what he's done. His beats are catchy and he even admits that they sound commercial in one of the songs but they'll have your head bumping in a fresh way. He's not rapping about guns or money or ho's but he does rap about weed...lol. Seriously, this man has a lot of talent, just search for his official site on google and you can watch his videos of his singles. I hope that'll help you decide but if you're reading this and don't have this album, just buy it! You won't regret it, I've been listening to it for a week straight and when I listen to other music I keep coming back to it. It's just plain good hip hop. Peace...

This recital was recorded when April Verch, a Canadian Grand Masters and Canadian Open fiddle champion, was only 22 years old. It reveals a maturing artist with a strong technique and a burgeoning musical imagination. She was born in the Ottawa Valley and was performing on the radio as a fiddler and step dancer before her 10th birthday. Her playing reflects Appalachian, Quebecois, Cape Breton, and other North American, Acadian, Anglo and Celtic traditions, but rhythms borrowed from South America and Stephane Grappelli's Parisian "Manouche Swing" add a playful, worldly sophistication. The tunes include a selection of Verch's originals, plus Canadian reels, a French contredanse, a treatment of a Brazilian choro by Jacob do Bandolim, and even "The Old Rugged Cross." The accompaniment is deferential, which permits the precise bowing and tonalities of the fiddler to reign supreme, but Bob DeAngelis's beautifully realized double-reed solos also make a strong impression. --Christina Roden

Eh-plus!.......2002-02-07

Four words: This One's A Keeper. Tasty, tasteful and diverse, I play this one over and over without ever tiring of it, and for me that's saying a lot. This, her first US release, is so good it made me immediately start searching around for how to get her Canadian stuff. April tackles Canadian Celtic reels as well as oldtime Appalachian and Swing styles, all with a confident energy and a teasingly sly slide (especially in "Sneaky"). Maybe "Verchuosity" is so listenable because of its diversity- as you listen through the CD it's constantly changing moods, from swingy to mysterious to the irresistibly funky "Diabinho Malucco" (hey, anyone who puts a Jacob do Bandolim tune on their CD gets my immediate attention)... and all of them infectious. Her violin tone is rosy warm, her timing very satisfying. No matter what one's favourite style is, if Verchuosity doesn't reach you, see your doctor. And she's only 22!? Life is good.

Not as good as the operetta Maria de Buenos Aires........1999-07-11

Binelli and Jairo are familiar from the line up on the Maria de Buenos Aires (2CD) conducted by Kremer. That recording is excellent. This, while okay, isn't as musically interesting and lacks decent notes or texts. The texts to tracks 1-5 can be found on the University of Munich's 'Tango Home Page', but not for the main item on the CD 'El Hombre de la esquina rosada'.

Not up to the standard of "Maria" on Teldec.......1999-05-14

This discs shares the two main performers (vocalist Jairo and bandoneonista Binelli) with the Piazolla operetta "Maria de Buenos Aires" on Teldec. That CD deserves 4 or 5 stars but this one is a cheapo on 3 counts. Firstly the general quality on this Milan isn't as good as the Teldec, even though it was recorded recently (1996). Secondly the playing time 39'31 is skimpy. Thirdly there are no texts and barely a word on the collaboration between Borges and Piazolla. When some of the tracks are simply poems read by actor Lito Cruz you'd think the poetry would rate equal treatment in the booklet. Not a great advert for other releases from Milan Records.

Sensational CD!.......2003-01-30

This 2003 Grammy Nominee for Best Classical Crossover is one of the most beautiful CDs of this genre that I have ever heard! The music, composed by Carlos Franzetti, is both beautiful and unforgettable. His orchestrations are incomparable. The one track composed by Allison Brewster Franzetti, the wonderful pianist on this CD, is equally beautiful. Kudos to Carlos Franzetti for his 2003 Grammy Nomination in the Best Instrumental Arrangement Category for this work. Wholehearted congratulations to Carlos and Allison and to all of the musicians who contributed to this CD with notable performances by Nestor Marconi on bandoneon and Elias Gurevich on violin.
