Customer Reviews:
Zip Gun Bop.......2004-06-28
The first album from Royal Crown Revue, pioneers of Neo-Swing and kings of gangster bop. Sound is not that big, but they are fabulous anyway! Here you'll find original Zip Gun Bop and Hey Pachuco!. Daydreamin' is a wonderful vocal ballad. Eddie Nichols sounds fabulous, Stern brothers (Adam-bass, Mark-drums and Jamie-alto sax) with Mando Dorame and James Achor too.
Primo!.......1998-09-24
Lacking the brass of Scott Steen, this album still is quite near perfection. "Stormy Weather" is classic, and "Cold Shower" is insanely fast and fun. "Swingin' All Day" makes you want to do just that. Not the best of their releases, but still a must-have.
A Great Start.......1998-08-31
This album swings from start to finish. They do indeed prove themselves to be the kings of the gangster bop. If you enjoy "Mugzy's Move", you need to hear this predicessor.
Before they were stars..........1998-07-20
If you want to know what the boys of RCR were doing before "Mugzy's Move," check this out. It doesn't swing quite as hard as their later work, but they've still got that jive going that will make your toes tap all day long. If you're a true fan of the band, this is a must have: it's got "Stormy Weather" and the early versions of "Hey, Pachuco" and "Zip Gun Bop." If you're just getting into RCR, or swing altogether, it's a great buy, too. They are the quintessential neo-swing band.
