Ever heard of a Trinidadian dish called pelau? Well, mix any type of food you can get your hands on: chicken, rice, onions, tomatoes... Stir all of these disparate parts up in a pot and enjoy. The Baha Men are Bahamians, not Trinidadians, but they utilize this formula to create their unique brand of music. With its catchy "Woof! woof! woof!" chorus, the self-titled single will make you feel "Hot, Hot, Hot" like Arrow. Soca connoisseurs might find it a bit disturbing that the Baha Men chose to cover this dated carnival anthem of 1998 (originally recorded by Trinidadian Anslem Douglas), but bounce-music audiences won't mind. Although none of the other tracks quite match that song's intensity, there are a good handful ("You All Dat," "Shake It Mamma," "You're Mine") that successfully mesh the popular music styles of the day (R&B, rap, pop) with the percussive junkanoo rhythms of the Bahamas. The electronic beats on "Summer of Love" and "You Can Get It" don't match their organic island flows, and the lone ballad "Where Did I Go Wrong" doesn't fit in with the general feel-good mood of the album, but this CD is filled with decent up-tempo party music for hot festival nights. --Dalton Higgins

Break into the 21st century.......2006-08-23
This album came out in 2000 and we danced to "Who Let the Dogs Out" four times at a Halloween Dance. "You All Dat" is another great song which incorporates the harmony of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" along with a new 21st century rapping song. It is a very unique album with the first song being a great dance song.
A public service for y'all.......2005-06-06
Okay, I had a review here, but judging by the responses I got, it may have been inadequate.
Let's try this again...
You All Dat - A funny story-type song (music taken from The Lion Sleeps Tonight). Nicely sentimental and not *too* corny.
Get Ya Party On - *Great* song! A perfect example of what they do the best, lively Miami Bass. (That's what it's called. Miami Bass.) By far my favorite.
Getting Hotter - A very happy, lively, quick-paced ska-esque number. Think "Hot Hot Hot", only far less annoying. :-)
Summer of Love - Just a really pretty Carribean-style love song.
You Can Get It - Ooh, Motown! At least that's what it reminded me of. Highly enjoyable song with a positive message.
It's All in the Mind - More Miami Bass, but with a much more conventional hip-hop sound than Get Ya Party On
Where Did I Go Wrong - The obligatory post-breakup song (a la Back For Good) that actually manages to avoid getting too sappy. Good stuff.
You're Mine - Disco-esque ska. Probably the weakest track (definitely on the repetitive side), although still passable.
What's Up, Come On - Another party track, nice and happy.
Shake It Mamma - And to close it off, an energetic dance number about a sexy lady. What's not to love.
So there you have it. As someone born and raised in Hawaii, I developed a taste for this type of music from an early age, but anyone who's into party music of any kind will love it.
Well, that's all I have to say. Hope it helped.
(Oh yeah, there's also some stadium song of some sort. Eh, whatever. :-D)
the Year 2000, Mets Vs Yankees World SUbway Series...........2005-01-08
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!?!?!!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!! This song is great because it reminds me of when i was watching basball and the mets were playing the yankees and it was cool. mike admit it you used to like this song alot and said its really good and cool and you were singing to it and your brother said it was cool it reminds me of when mike was cool and he wasnt a moron and he listened to me. it reminds me of when rossler listened to good music like limp bizkit and kid rock and music like dmx jadakiss and he was a big fan of grant hill who now plays for the orlando magicand is back to being the grant hill he was in the 90s. rossler and joey and mike all used to say i was cool and used to hang out with me and call me the leader and rossler said to me that ace was cool but now its like this, ace your retarded i hate you your annoying what ever happen to mike saying ace is cool and joey said ace your my best friend your really cool. but now joey is like "your gay and im a pimp" and im thinking wtf happend to this world????? Mike Joey Rossler, if your reading this, think about what you have done this past 4 years... think about what you have done to me and what you have said. just remember i was once the king of Woodhaven, just like TI is the king of the south and Lil Jon is the King Of Crunk. Ludacris used to be the king of the SOuth and ATL but TI overthrown him. i feel the same way because of what you fa*gots have done to me....
Who cares if this is brilliant...........2004-12-21
You listen to this kind of music to relax, have fun and lighten up a sad mood. Anyway to get to the review, this is just a fun song that everyone (myself included at one point) takes waaaay too seriously. Personally I prefer "Move It Like This" or "Best Years Of Our Lives" to this one, but this one's fun if you are sad or bored anyway. Junkanoo music is supposed to be fun not serious and that's what you're getting here. If you're looking for serious music, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.
This Ain't American Style (That's Why It Rocks)!.......2002-03-06
Geez, People, when will you realize that you should not think of them as one hit wonders? On this album, the title track isn't even the best song. That honor goes to song three, a track alot of you may remember from the talent show scene from "Miss Congeniality". The song works perfectly for that part, and the track itself should be considered one of the best bahaman party songs of madern music. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese! Realize that they are not trying to go by American pop/rock/rap style music, they have a style all their own from their home country.
They have already exhibited pure musical talent in the song from "Shrek", "Best Days Of Our Lives" which recieved absolutely NO radio airplay. That is absolutely crazy!
This album is a favorite to almost everyone at my school (except the teachers), and brought me to meet many friends. This is a great CD that should be bought by everyone.

This is the one! Every song is fabulous. This is the best of the Baha Men. Perfect for anyone who loves the bahamas and for anyone who has ears, this is better than the best.
I Love This CD.......2001-06-17
I own 3 Baha Men CD's, and Kalik is definately my favorite! It captures the feeling of Bahama "feel good" party music! I especially love the song "Dance to the Junkanoo"! My wife and I heard it live when we were on Paradise Island, and it's great hearing it again on this CD! Also "Back to the Island" is a classic! Check out their Junkanoo CD as well, it is also really good!
IRRESISTABLE.......2000-09-18
A delectable collection of Caribbean pop, this album is like a vacation for your ears. The ultra-sunny selections, and the non-stop, infectious island rhythms transport you to some island getaway, conjuring images in your head of beaches, coconut drinks and dancing til dawn. Though all of the music here is wonderful, my favorites are the more pop-infused songs: Sunny Day and of course the mega-remake of that pop classic Dancing in The Moonlight.
The best music of the Caribbean.......1999-06-27
This CD is great for dancing and for just listening to some Caribbean music. The artists are very talented, and I searched for this CD after having seen My Father the Hero. This is a fantastic CD.

One of the worst songs in the history of music.......2007-05-24
Every time this song would come on, i'd have to cover my ears and think of a better song. Other one hit wonders like Alannah Myles made great songs. these so-called musicians,(the baha men) have been forgotten. And who let the dogs out has faded to a dim memory
Who let the BAHA MEN out?.......2006-05-26
There's a reason why I don't listen to the radio anymore, well, the pop stations anyway. With singles like "Who Let The Dogs Out?!" getting airtime, why should anyone besides the MTV drones bother? This album contains the second most annoying single of all time (the first one being "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent): "Who Let The Dogs Out?". The song consists of annoying barking noises and repetitive lyrics. Thankfully, no one has heard from this group SINCE 2002! The Baha Men will probably go down in history as that one hit wonder, that "flavor of the week" that, thankfully, everyone forgot about. That's a good thing.
Grammy winners churn out another classic!.......2006-02-03
I must admit at first I wasn't a believer, but upon purchasing this album I must say I have never been this impressed. Grammy winners The Baha Men are one of the greatest bands of the last century, particularly thanks to their touching power-ballad "Who Let the Dogs Out?" Not only does it have infectuous dance beats and moving melodies, but it also asks a serious life's question: who DID let the dogs out? When I was nine I got chased by a huge dog that was almost as tall as me and since that day I have been wondering this question. I have not actually listened to any of the other songs on this album but since they won a Grammy I take it they are all good too.
Anyways, I'm going to go and roll around in the mud with an inflatable pig. Buy this album. I guarantee you will be satisfied. Hoo.
Who Let these jokes out?!.......2005-12-23
If you like these hacks, then take this CD and shove it up your...
I'm not finishing this due to the fact that there are kids reading this.
Enough said.

I mainly bought it for the cover of Hanson's "Thinking Of You", and I was kind of shocked at the sound. It's very true to it's genre, I think. So if you're a fan of the genre of music, then you'll enjoy this album. Although, I'm not liking what they did with "Thinking Of You".

I just received 2 Zero OO in the mail today and it's awesome! The song "She Shake It" is fantastic! A great Caribbean beat, fun to listen and dance to! So far the Baha Men have proved to be the "best" of authentic and fun Bahama style party music! This new CD is great!

The Baha Men's mix of pop-drenched R&B, rap, and Bahamian junkanoo finally lifted the veteran band from obscurity with the inescapable single "Who Let the Dogs Out." Their follow-up attempts to continue the success of their good-natured music. The title single is a dance tune suitable for everyone from toddlers to mainstream clubbers; "Giddyup" could make a suitable sequel to "Dogs," while a rewrite of Harry Nilsson's "Coconut"--"Put the lime in the coconut"--manages to out-nonsense the original. The disc's other songs often proffer a lightly philosophical stance that's hardly profound but helps make the album very likable. "Normal" pushes a healthy live-and-let-live attitude. In turn, "Rich in Love" deals with a misguided gold digger who'd rather have a Bill Gates (!) than a Baha Man. Finally, the modernized doo-wop of "I Thank Heaven" is surprisingly sweet and doesn't spoil the party. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
The Baha Men sell out!.......2006-03-31
Okay, maybe "sell out" isn't the proper term for a group that's never going to get its due no matter what. But that's exactly what Move It Like This sounds like, a much more straight-up, mainstream friendly offering than their career-making (and -breaking at the same time, ironically enough) Who Let The Dogs Out.
Lessee...Put The Lime In The Coconut is an interesting take on the old Harry Nilsson cornball classic. Best Years of our Lives has that lively island beat that drew me to them in the first place. Move It Like This is a seamless "medley vocals" number. The rest...unremakable pop.
It's good, don't get me wrong, but still a step down from Who Let The Dogs Out. (And if you listen to both albums in their entirety, you'll know why. :-D)
Move It Like This.......2005-09-05
Nothing triggers the "mother nature" in us like a baby animal in distress. But how do you know when to step in and when to take a hike? Take this quiz to find out.
1. You're out walking the dog when you find a nest of baby bunnies. There is no sign of mom. You should:
a. leave the babies alone. Mom will show up eventually.
b. put a box over the babies to protect them overnight, then remove the box in the morning and keep an eye out for mama bunny.
c. take them to the animal shelter.
2. You see a baby bird hopping along the ground. She tries to fly but can only flutter a few feet. You notice that her tail feathers are very short. You should:
a. leave the bird alone. Her parents are probably nearby and feeding her.
b. put the bird in a box and feed her worms.
c. take the bird to the animal shelter.
3. A teensy opossum shows up alone on the back porch one night. You should:
a. leave the baby alone. Mama's probably checking out the neighbor's garbage.
b. put the baby in a box and put the box in a tree for the mother to find.
c. put a box over the baby and call the animal shelter or a wildlife rehabilitator for advice.
4. You hear strange noises coming from the chimney and realize a family of raccoons has mistaken your chimney for a hollow tree. You should:
a. close the damper and wait for the babies to get old enough to leave.
b. light a fire. The smoke will frighten the raccoons away.
c. call a "pest" control company.
Answers
1. a. A mother rabbit will visit her nest only for a few minutes each day. If she senses danger, she may stay away for as long as 36 hours. She probably does this because her scent will attract predators. Lay a few blades of grass in a pattern on top of the nest. Look the next day. If the blades have been disturbed, you know mom's around.
2. a. Most baby birds leave the nest before they can fly. These fledglings stay on the ground for several days while they are testing their wings and growing tail feathers. Their parents feed them regularly. Feeding worms to a baby bird can be harmful. Many birds eat mostly seeds, not worms, and force-feeding them worms could be fatal. Birds who are very tiny may have fallen out of their nests. If you can't find the nest, put the baby in a box nailed to a tree. If the parents are looking for their baby, they will care for him or her right in your "homemade" nest. (Contrary to popular belief, parent birds will not reject their baby because of being handled by humans.) If the parents push the baby bird out of the box or ignore him or her, the baby is probably sick, and it is time to call a wildlife rehabilitator (call PETA for names of rehabilitators in your area).
3. c. Opossums are marsupials, like kangaroos, and carry their babies in a pouch. A baby opossum out alone is probably an orphan. Don't touch the opossum-they have very sharp teeth! Put a box punched with air holes over the baby and take him or her to a wildlife rehabilitator or shelter.
4. a. Don't try to "smoke out" raccoons-babies can fall into the fire and be burned. Calling an exterminator isn't a great idea either-exterminators usually kill them. The best thing to do is leave wildlife tenants alone. When the babies get old enough (in a few weeks), everyone will move out. Then it's time to cap your chimney and seal up all the possible entrances-but only after you're sure all the babies are gone.
How'd You Score?
Give yourself one point for each correct answer.
0-1 As guardian angels go, it looks like you're still a "fledgling." To help earn your wings, check out PETA's "Living in Harmony" factsheet.
2-3 You're getting there, grasshopper. When in doubt, call your local shelter. Most shelters have names and numbers of wildlife rehabilitators, who are usually the best people to turn to for help. Keep their names and phone numbers by your phone in case of an emergency.
4 Don't come between this "mama bear" and her "cubs"-she knows what she's doing!

From the BahaMen's greatest fan!.......2003-01-07
I own everyone of the BahaMen CD, and this latest one is GREAT! The island rhythms of The Wave, Normal, Best Years of our Lives, and Break Away are terrific! A real "feel good" CD! Also the remix of Lime in the Coconut is unbelievable! Worth the price of the CD alone!
whoa, I wasn't expecting this.......2003-01-05
I had previously given this cd a big thumbs down, I listened to 3 songs, then threw it in a box of items I was going to donate, well, my kids pulled the cd out and kept playing it. I decided to give it another try and focused on the different musical instruments, vocal mixes, and the fact that this is not the same as their previous cd's because of the absence of Nehemiah and the addition of three new men. The band stayed the same but has changed their playing to reflect a new era and still remain uniq to other bands, I play this cd quite often now and like the songs and the lyrics are fun on the faster songs. I think the vocals are good. The cd has some rap, disco, R&B and everything in between, I give it 4 stars for upbeat(makes you wanna shake it) and creativity.

A great jazz album.......2003-03-06
Barbara Dennerlein is one of the few innovators of the jazz organ out there today. Perhaps, I'm slightly biased, but I have just never been taken in by Joey DeFrancesco.
That out, Junkanoo is a great album, featuring some wonderful compositions of Dennerlein's, and featuring awesome organ playing (and good work on footpedals too). It's well worth it for that.
The album falls down a little bit though. Dennis Chambers is a great drummer, but his rock rhythms sound sort of strange against what is going on with the other instruments. Also, her choice of instrumentation is occasionally suspect - they don't quite blend at times.
Regardless, it's a wonderful album.
Another fine progressive soul-jazz outing from B.D........2002-11-01
Her composing is almost as impressive as her prodigious organ technique on this fine progressive soul-jazz outing of all original tunes from B.D. The grooves range from funky blues and soulful bop to sultry latin. Lonnie Plaxico's solid bass lets her concentrate more on melodic improvisations. Joe Locke's atmospheric vibes, Mitch Watkins' fusion licks, Don Alias' percussive spice, and a top-notch horn section round out the mix. The title track is dark minor Caribbean groove with the haunting feel of a tropical evening.
Lonnie Plaxico - Bass (Electric), Bass (Upright)
Mitch Watkins - Guitar

Firstly, I am a music critic for my school paper. I was not expecting much from the Baha Men when I heard some of their earlier songs. It was not until watching The Garfield Movie, a movie of my younger sister's, that I realized that the Baha Men were capable of producing such great sounds. I was skeptical, at first, when I bought the CD. I wasn't expecting much. When I turned on my player to listen to the music, I was really impressed with the funky Carribean sounds that came out through my speakers. My favorite song on the record is Holla, it has a catchy rhythym and great sound. I would reccommend this CD to anyone who asked me for my opinion on the Baha Men!

Great fusion of Junkanoo and world beats.......2004-06-10
I like the album. I was concerned about the title track because it sounded too child like at first but I grew to like it after the 3rd listen. A lot of the other songs are tailored to a more mature audience. The Baha men version of Hold Ya Head is amazing. Great job. I have most of their albums and look forward to future CDs.
From a fan and a friend..........2004-06-03
In the Bahamas, Baha Men have been on point for 20 years or more. Until "Who Let The Dogs Out", which is not - repeat - NOT what we down in Nassau were used to hearing. That was some nickalodeon garbled stuff. I went back home quite a few months ago to work on MY project, "The Demonstration", and an old high school friend shows up at the studio door. It was Rick Carey of Baha Men. (Back in school, he was just a hip hop producer. Now he's both). We get to talking because "Move It Like This" was horrid. I actually liked their 3X platinum "Who Let The Dogs OUt", but that second album had NO redeeming qualities. It was more kid music; worse than the first. Rick tells me they just wrapped on their second album recorded at Ocean Studios (one of the best ones I've ever walked into...) He also says he wrote more on this album, and it has more of an adult feel. I was more than happy to hear that. Rick grew up with the music, his father's been in Baha Men for around 20 years, if I'm not mistaken.
With songs like "Tempted" and "Holla" and "69", this album is definitely a step in the right direction. If marketed right, it could garner new fans for the group; the likes of which you'd have never imagined. I was there before the album went off to be mastered, I was there to help out with what I could in the tour rehearsals, I was there to watch Rick do some production wizardry on some reggae remixes.
Also, realize that this album is the first for two new members of the group. Rick is the only lead vocalist to return for this third installment of Baha Men. I told rick he could do it, and on this album, they ALL managed to do the d*mn thing. This is amazing, and I recomend it to any and everyone.
Peace, and God Bless.

Go For It!.......2001-01-23
I see that I am the first person to review this song. I took a chance on getting this without even hearing it on the radio. Trust me. Take the same chance! If you liked "Who Let the Dogs Out?" then you will like this. This is an excellent follow-up! It contains an interpolation of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." The hook is so catchy! The song also features Imani Coppola, whose top 20 smash "Legend of a Cowgirl" is mixed in a little bit. I guarantee you, this will be a song whose hook will stick in your head for weeks! There is also a dance mix of this song on here. It's kind of like the dance mix of "Who Let the Dogs Out." Speakng of which, that is the third track on the single. This is well worth it. Don't let happen with this song that happened with the "Dogs" single. Remember when the single was available for a few weeks then the song blew up and they discontinued the single to sell more albums? The same thing will happen here. This is a great dance song!
