3 out of 5 stars < <3>> Stars because of her BOLDNESS, I have much much Respect........2005-12-22

(First Star taken off) because the sister cannot rap lol.. She either too angry or too eager to display any real talent... I am a HUGE fan of sister souljah as a person, as a political and activist figure representing our People... but I had to pop this CD out, I felt like she was screamin at me... Just yellin and angry (obviously)... But, I will simply hold on to it as a collectible out of respect and admiration for this woman of Power and Dignity. Some of the lyrics were a lil extra hateful, but you know... to each his own... I prefer to hear More about Resolutions than Problems.. but We can't address one without the other.. (Second Star taken off for that) This album didn't have enough of a balance for me, too much blame, not enough positive reinforcement of how we're going to overcome some of these obsticles Anyway.. I'm a proud black woman so I can do is respect the sister for her opinions. No regrets with this purchase.

2 out of 5 stars This album deserves its obscurity.......2005-07-30

Forget the politics, the album is just musically poor. Most of it boils down to pretty talentless, often amusical whiny chatter.

At the time, this lady was a girlfriend of one of the members of Public Enemy. She did get one song from them--Final Solution: Slavery's Back in Effect, and it is just so much better than anything else on the album that it's embarrassing. If you have to get anything from her, get the single.

3 out of 5 stars A nice change of pace........2006-10-16

After many full length listens, sometimes you want to switch it up with the occasional ep. This one proves to be a solid collaborative piece.

"360" Degrees was the popular single put together by push button objects. It featured known commodities Mr Lif,Del,along with Dj Craze to help out with the production. This is more of a mini compliation, rather than a typical ep. It contains the original, five remixes and two instrumentals. The list of artist/producers who did the remixing is more impressive than the original track. A rare collective such as this is worth your interest alone, and there something for everyone. It's definitly interesting to see how each artist applies their own style to the track. My favorite has to be the version by Prefuse, who steals the show with his unique blend. If you liked how his sound worked in "Blacklist" with MF Doom you should feel this.(the prefuse track is exclusive to this cd,I highly recommend this for heads looking to find all of his work on wax) I also loved Dj Spinna's lush and smooth interpretation of the song. The rest are done very well, but just a notch under the other two in my opinion, but of course that varies from each listener. I was not turned off by any of the versions, even Elp's polarizing abstract harshness. The instrumental, along with the b-side "Breaker's Delight" which appeared on the twelve inch also make for good listening.

This project won't be as appealing to fans who just like lyrics. I believe beat heads who like different styles can find a greater appreciation in it. However,it can't be rated more than 3 stars for this same reason. It's a remix cd with the same lyrics, which makes it just a really good novelty, instead of anything more. I wouldn't go so far to call this a "must have" for a fan of any of these artists, except maybe prefuse. But it is a solid treat for your collection, especially if you can cop it up at a decent price.

4 out of 5 stars Mr. Lif + DEL = HEAT.......2005-04-27

If you know whats good for you, you'll surley check this out. Nothing beats Mr. Lif's crazy delivery:
"The new era, brings terror"
Lif teaming up with Del is just to good to pass up. The price is pretty high for a single, but look for it used...its definilty a keeper.

    Album Description

Life @ 360 Degrees is a stunning second solo album (her first in the UK) from one of New York singer Karen Bernod. Back in the Nineties Karen was featured vocalist with Incognito on three cuts on their `No Time Like The Future' album, and was part of the band's live line-up. Prior to that, she sang on numerous dance tracks, was writer and vocalist on the Cooltempo club anthem Motherland, sang on Barbara Tucker's Beautiful People, sang backgrounds on albums by Whitney, Luther, Stephanie Mills, Paul Simon, the Pet Shop Boys... Fans of Jill Scott, India.Arie and Erkykah Badu will love this album. Karen's jazzy inflections, her inherent soulfulness, her humour, shine through - cuts like Comfort Zone, Truth Iz and Love Is are outstanding confirmation that soul music is alive and well in New York City. Karen and co-writer/co-producer Greg Spooner also go up-tempo on the final cut for a house mix of Spirit.

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The Essence of Soul Music!.......2007-06-26

This singer brings a certain realness to her music, mostly resorting to uncomplicated lyrics and a strong vocal range to get her message across to the listener. Many have never heard of her music, but Karen Bernod has been around the block a few times in her ever-growing music career. She has sung background for the likes of D'angelo, Erykah Badu, and Mary J. Blige, but she was also a featured vocalist for three songs on Incognito's No Time Like The Future as well as in concert for the group. Karen released her debut album Some Othaness For U back in 2000 and now returns to bless us with the outstanding Life @ 360 Degrees. The lounge feeling of "You" is welcoming, "Hair I Am" is cool in its delivery, and "Subway Love Game" is a carefree tale that illustrates that love can present itself anywhere. Her best work on here has to be the sultry "Comfort Zone," an enthralling escapade that is sung with the senses in mind. "Tell Em Let Em Know" is a feel-good groove, along with the pleasurable "Truth Iz" and the equally gratifying "Love Is." The same sentiments can be said about the introspective approach of "Dreamer" and "Family" where Karen shares some of her own thoughts and aspirations. Anybody seriously looking for a soul album that is nearly solid throughout, Life @ 360 Degrees is definitely your best bet. If you do some searching, you should be able to find the U.S. Version of this album for a lot cheaper.

5 out of 5 stars Life is Good.......2006-05-18

OMG this cd it hitting every level. If you picked up her last cd, Life at 360 Degrees is an extension of creative muse. She singing more about love, life, and family. Karen starts from the begining when she wrote her first song to were she is in her life. She sings about life lessons, those friends who want to be around you for one reason and those that are true friends. Karen throws in some grown folks groves with "Subway Love Games" and "Comfort Zone." "Tell Em Let Em Know" jumps out at you and right off the bat you want to sing along. The highlight for me on this cd was the African Chant (Roots of Nature) when Karen picks a song she made up sitting in her moma's kitchen. This is a solo piece with vocals and percussion, but I felt like Sweet Honey and the Rock had adopted this Brooklyn base Diva. There is a certain spirituality in Karen voice that I love. She tend to sound like she is speaking to the gods, and they've sent her a message to let everyone know that its alright to "do you and be you".

5 out of 5 stars nice dark canadian album.......2005-09-07

i first heard of this group on the fuse channel much music on a show called rap city not the one with mad linx this show actually showed old school rare hard to find videos. then one night they showed a video for their single how it go. hot single the beat is dark so is the video.for some reason they don't show rap city no more, don't know why maybe ratings weren't good. but any ways 16 tracks, the beats on these songs are very dark and head nodding.my only complaint is that its 34 minutes long.should've been promoted better. this is my first canadian hip hop purchase and its actually good. if u like dark beats and like to play hip hop that fits the nightlife then this is your album, i hope this helps. support real hip hop.

4 out of 5 stars A hardcore head from E-town.......2000-06-17

A dope collection of chronic beats, to get your head bobbin. Lyrical content that keeps you on your toes, and an original flow that will keep you waiting for more. Underground hip-hop at it's best. Can't wait till his sophmore album comes out, this is no flash in the pan. Check it out. Classic Canadian hip-hop from Vancouver, makes me wonder why no one knows about him. Definitely slept on.

    Customer Reviews:

    4 out of 5 stars Number two.......2003-06-13

360 is LPG's sophomore album. Many people (although perhaps members of SFC would disagree) consider their debut, THE EARTHWORM to be among the greatest albums ever, because it proved that Christian emcees had a place in hip hop. On their first album, Dax and Jurny not only handled their own, they proved that they were among the best emcees period. As such, 360 is plagued by the same problem that afflicts Nas' IT WAS WRITTEN and the Pharcyde's LABCABINCALIFORNIA. When your very first album is widely praised as classic, how do you follow that up?

In listening to 360, it seems to me that LPG (Living Proof of Grace, by the way) didn't worry about that. While Nas tried to appeal to a wider audience and the Pharcyde went in a different direction entirely, LPG simply went about business as usual. To be sure, there are differences. On "Battle Cry" they expand on their ability to tell stories, which had previously only been hinted at. On this track they remember a b-boy battle that they participated in when they were younger. "Abandoned" has the cousins inhabiting the persona of an abandoned building and realizing how beautiful it has become once some graf artists have finished with it. The majority of the album though, is standard LPG, a combination of faith in Christ and love for hip hop that brooks no argument.

As with any release by the Tunnel Rats, other members of the larger crew appear. Zane guests on "Thinking Out Loud" while Redbonez of Future Shock helps out on the hook of "Crew" (although, I'm honestly not quite sure if Future Shock had left the TRz at this point in time or not). Dax and Jurny also reached a little bit further and were able to get Ahmad from the 4th Avenue Jones' to do a verse on "World War III" and Self-Jupiter from Freestyle Fellowship to guest on "Must."

While there isn't really a bad song here, I am a little curious as to why LPG chose to revisit "A Place Called Hip Hop." While it is one of my favorite songs of all time, there isn't really anything added to it. The only differences are that there is more scratching on the hook and Jurny's voice has matured somewhat. At least they didn't remix it; that could have ruined it. As of this writing, LPG has just released their third (and supposedly final) album. Although I haven't listened to it yet, there is yet another track called "A Place Called Hip Hop." Although that is an obvious tie to their past, what will LPG really go for on the new album? Mass appeal? A new direction? Or business as usual?
