This is a fine recording. I first heard Rheinberger's music for violin and organ at a concert in Saxony this past summer. I immediately asked myself, "Why haven't I ever heard them before?" I was familiar with Rheinberger's organ music, but not with these little gems. They remind me of Faure's music. There is something about them that is fully romantic, and at the same time elegantly reserved. The playing and engineering are first rate at a bargain price. Rheinberger composed music that pairs two instruments not usually heard together, and in the hands of these performers it works!
