Editorial Reviews "Partitas For Long Strings" constitutes a further stage of Panhuysen's work. Where earlier recording basically documented his installations, this was specifially conceived as a CD. It is a more thoroughly composed piece performed solo with multitracking. For Partita, four long strings tuned to the same pitch were sounded by Panhuysen brushing them, as evenly as possible, as he walked beside them. Three further recordings were then superimpohsed, resulting in a density of 16 strings. Differentiated tunings, modified further between the overlaid recordings, augment the textural complexity of Partitas II and III.
