I love Pachelbel and who doesn't? I was looking for a CD, much like you are, with it done in various ways- piano, violin, vocal, etc. Different tempos, chords, instruments, etc. I thought this was it. No. This is like PacHELLbel. I can kind of make out a Canon tune in the staggered tempos, extrapolations, and outright molestations of the original tune but it's just too far from the mark. Maybe I am not sophisticated enough. Great for elevators in medical buildings. One track though is the original essentially and it is very well done but the rest... I want my money back!

My tastes are rather eclectic, but this CD is just the ticket for an evening by the fire with a glass of wine and a good book. All the cuts have their own qualities, but I believe Nocturne to be the absolute best. I listen to it and envision being in a place like Brigadoon, don't ask why.

I am perhaps THE ultimate admirer of this mans works and I am here to say, if it is Pachelbel (Johann only), it is a magnificient work make no mistake I would give it fifty stars if I could, so I will. To you, my Baroque Babe, I give you the highest praise possible.

There is something that touches my soul when I hear this piece of music. I simply cannot get enough of it. This new age blend of Pachelbel's canon is a thing of beauty.

When it comes to simple, elegant, graceful, moving, uplifting, and thoughtful "new age" music, no one is better than Tingstad and Rumbel. These career spanning discs is a awesome collection.

What a bargain. You get two CDs with a total of 31 tracks. This is my first introduction to Tingstad and Rumbel, even though I have listened to plenty of New Age music, and it is hard to impress me. But Tingstad and Rumbel is certainly one group I overlooked and I am glad I finally tried them. Thanks to Amazon for promoting it to me. The music on the CD can be called relaxing. It's best putting on your headphones and working on something like a computer.

The duo of Eric Tingle (guitar) and Nancy Rumbel (oboe, English horn and ocarina) have recorded a string of wonderful acoustic albums for the Narada label since their first collaboration in 1985. This two-hour-and-fifteen-minute anthology collects 31 tracks from all of their non-holiday offerings beginning with 1987's WOODLANDS through 2002's ACOUSTIC GARDEN (which won the 2003 Grammy for best new age album). In addition, there are a couple tracks from Tingle's solo album A SENSE OF PLACE ("Monongahela" and "The Craftsman"), as well as Rumbel's stunning solo outing NOTES FROM THE TREE OF LIFE ("Lullaby"). Moreover, there are a handful of tracks otherwise only available from earlier Narada various artists collection: "Lo Que Tu Quisieras (As You Wish)" is from STORIES, "Sunderlal" is from WIND & REED, and "Crow and Weasel" is from A CHILDHOOD REMEMBERED. "Emerald Pavane" is from EMERALD, an album done with pianist and labelmate Spencer Brewer.

Truly elegant.......2000-05-24

I actually had this album years ago and listened to it so much I needed a replacement, but, by then, it was no longer available. Now here it is on CD - the Xerses/Largo is one of the most beautiful classical compositions and, here, it is presented without vocals - the way I like it. If you don't know much about classical music but want to enjoy a good general mix - this is a great CD to have....

Mildly interesting..........2005-08-15

This disc turned out to be a Higher Octave Music sampler. It's
approx. 43min length is kind of skimpy to make a claim of being a
major source for keyboard reference. The juicey liner notes make
you think your listening to a gift for the senses; when in fact there is nothing that stands out here. The first track "Body Language" performed by Jonathan Cain is truly the only mememorable one. While there are 12 tracks listed but there are only
actually nine, as three are more like preludes to the other selections ranging 32sec. to just over a minute and a half. Still
the over all mood is mellow and ideal for late night listening or while reading. There surely is nothing that will break your
concentration! Listen to the samples above, get it only for a cheap price!

Wonderful Music.......2007-01-24

I am a lover of classical music but not in any way a musician. As a lay person the collection of pieces on this CD appeal to me in their representation of a period in classical music that I find particularly pleasing. I had never heard of Pokorny and Hoffsteter so was particularly pleased to find two composers to add to my list. It is a quiet collection of beautiful music well played and most enjoyable.
