Having heard the Muczynski live, i admit that the cd captures much of the excitement that I felt hearing it played for the first time. You can't go wrong with this cd.

Robert Muczynski's Sonata for Cello and Piano is a stellar work that belongs right alongside the Shostakovich sonata. It is a jewel among cello-piano sonatas. Muczynski's music is always finely crafted and very idiomatic. This is one of his greatest chamber works. The performance is so moving and exciting, it covers a very large spectrum of emotions. If you are a music lover you need to hear this piece!

This CD contains an incredible performance of the Shostakovich Cello Sonata! Enyeart uses wonderful interpretation, style, and technique. This CD is a must for anyone interested in Shostakovich!
