ANGEL and ALL THIS LOVE IS WAITING FOR YOU by DeBarge are the only songs to bring tears to my eyes and 'touched my very soul'. Incredibly beautiful, powerful song. ANGEL is worth the price of the CD.

I stumbled on this purely by accident. Unimpeded by some minor technical glitches, this is a wonderful piece of work. How is it that JS remains relatively obscure? Wow! It probably means something when every rating is at 5 stars.

I bought this CD based solely on the song "Have You Ever Been Lonely?" Now that I've listened to the CD, I'm truly impressed. I've never heard of this gentleman, but he has definite skills!! (What is truly special is that many of the songs have scriptural references.) If you like the musical genre "neo-soul", coupled with words of hope, love, faith and redemption, you'll love this album.

This is an excellent album by John. I discover John on a TV show and have not stopped playing his CD yet. I love "Angel" and many, many others on this CD. I wish my local status will play him. I recently saw John on TVONE so I'm hoping the exposure will bring a live performance in the Mid-west. You cant go wrong with this CD. Listen to it before and after work. You will truly be blessed. Thanks John and GOD Bless. I look forward to your next project.

Excellent mixture of the keyboard and guitar. The lyrics are so uplifting, they make you feel goooood. The songs are definitely about love, but not the same old love songs. This guy has his own unique style. My favorites are "everybody talkin" and "angel". The more I listen to the CD, the more I like it. I own over 200 CDs and buy 1 every week or so, I'm always searching for that CD containing 10 out of 10 good songs from the new generation of artist; this one is close. A bottle of wine, flowers, dim lights and this CD will get you out of the dog house everytime.

Le talentueux et charismatique pionnier de la Screwed Up Click, Big Hawk a ýtý tuý dýbut mai et enterrý le 08.

Il a ýtý assassiný dans la nuit du 1er, devant la maison d'un ami chez qui il ýtait venu en voiture pour jouer aux dominos en soirýe. Celui ci n'ýtait pas encore arrivý chez lui et H.A.W.K l'attendait devant sa maison quand il a ýtý criblý de balles par des inconnus qui n'ont pas ýtý apprýhendýs. Etant donný le peu d'indices, de motifs et de týmoins que dýtiennent les policiers, le crime pourrait n'ýtre jamais ýlucidý, comme ceux de nombreux autres rappeurs...

Aprýs les dýcýs de son petit frýre Fat Pat, de Big Steve, de BG Gator, de Big Rue, de Big Mello et du lýgendaire Dj Screw, le rap de Houston et plus particuliýrement la Screwed Up Click se retrouvent certainement dans la ville la plus endeuillýe du rap mondial... Nous rappelant que les meurtres de noirs sont loin d'avoir diminuý depuis qu'on entend moins parler de Bloods et Crips. La mode du bling bling, du pimp et des richesses outranciýres n'ont rien changý aux ghettos amýricains, et les morts de rappeurs n'en sont que la partie immergýe de l'iceberg...

Big Hawk n'avait pourtant pas d'ennemis connus et pas de beef en cours depuis trýs longtemps. Il avait quittý la rue pour le rap et Paul Wall a immýdiatement rappelý qu' ý il avait un grand cýur et qu'il ýtait un grand frýre et un mentor pour les talents locaux ý. Pour faire taire les rumeurs d'un lien avec le meurtre de son frýre Fat Pat 8 ans plus týt, le pionnier Bun B (U.G.K) qui le connaissait trýs bien a tenu ý prýciser : ý N'extrapolons pas du fait qu'il ýtait un mari, un pýre, un fils et un vrai ami pour beaucoup et qu'il est parti dans des conditions tragiques ý. Les centaines de personnes qui se sont prýsentýes ý son enterrement en ont týmoigný.

Avant ce mois de mai si triste pour H Town, H.A.W.K avait mený une carriýre remarquable, participant sans aucun conteste ý faire de sa ville le centre actuel de tous les regards du rap u.s. Il avait fait ses armes aux cýtýs de son frýre sur les mixtapes de Screw pendant toutes les annýes 90, donnant ý l'art du freestyle une actualitý, une modernitý et une vitalitý rafraýchissantes. Par ses mixtapes auxquelles participaient Hawk et toute la S.U.C, Screw avait prouvý que des gangsta rappeurs pouvaient alimenter et faire aimer dans le sud une culture pourtant traditionnellement Hip Hop.

Alors que ces diffýrents rappeurs s'acheminaient progressivement vers leurs premiers albums studio, Hawk avait rejoint les plus grands noms de la Screwed Up Click pour constituer la Dead End Alliance (du nom que Screw avait donný ý leur quartier) Leur album ýScrewed 4 Life ý ýtait paru en 1998, et il est devenu une rýfýrence absolue depuis lors dans l'underground local.

Puis, suite ý la mort de son frýre, H.A.W.K avait entrepris une carriýre solo avec l'excellent ý Under Hawk's Wings ý sur Dead End Records. Solicitý sur une infinitý de featurings avec des grands noms tels Lil' Flip, Lil' KeKe, Big Moe ou Lil Troy, il avait poursuivi sa carriýre solo avec ýHAWK ý, atteignant la reconnaissance d'un public beaucoup plus large avec son single ý You Already Know ý et pointant ainsi ý la 45ýme place des charts US. Par la suite il avait enregistrý deux albums pour le dynamique mais trýs local Presidential Records. Le premier ýtait ý Big Hawk presents a Bad Ass mixtape II ý, un volet des Bad Ass mixtapes qui lui ýtait dýdiý. L'autre ý Wreckin' 2004 ý un album en duo avec son partenaire de rimes de toujours, Lil Keke. Faire la liste de ses innombrables collaborations dans le sud et ý Screwston serait trop long...

Hawk avait tout pour devenir une star internationale du rap comme Flip, Slim Thug, Mike Jones ou Paul Wall. Mais il ýtait un peu trop agý pour qu'une major ne mise sur lui. Et il est mort avant...

Slim Thug a dýclarý ý C'est une perte terrible pour toute la communautý rap de Houston ý. D'autre part le rappeur de 36 ans a laissý derriýre lui une femme et deux enfants. Merci de nous avoir tant fit vibrer, Repose En Paix Hawk. Love & eternal respect...

Why is it, that it takes music companies in other countries, specifically Japan and England, to make availble, cds of original U.S. released, became rare, soul albums to the world? This gem of an album is a case in point. After the famed Motown production team Holland, Dozier, Holland parted company with the label, and started their own company, with several labels, this album was one released on one of them, Music Merchant Records. With Motown educated production values the team produced an excellent ballad laden album with the Smith brothers (one later released an lp as "LoveSmith"). Japan's P-Vine label originally released this lp on cd in the mid-90s, not availible world-wide at that time. This import is now availible, and should be purchased by any 70s soul music lovers...... High production, high tenor.......

      The journey starts off with the don’t-take-no-stuff club banger “I’m Out”, which puts a man right back in his place after he boldly steps out of line with his female counterpart as she concludes that “When it comes down to the get down” he’s really not who she thought he was. On the ultra groovy “Say A Little Prayer”, Edison proclaims the love for a man, whom she can’t seem to find enough courage to speak to and asks her listeners to say a little prayer in hopes of helping her gain the courage that, for her, approaching a man like this requires. Edison challenges us to think a little deeper on the melodically dynamic “Maybe”, which explores the inner most thoughts of unsurety that we have in relationships when we are not completely satisfied while we yet stay in these relationships waiting and hoping that “maybe” things will change. The dance provoking “Just Breathe” takes us on an emotional rollercoaster and lands us on the angrier more destructive side of relationships, while the poetically rhythmic title track “A Thousand Wings” uniquely describes what it feels like to finally have a love that makes you feel like you can do anything in the world. Edison caps off her musically satisfying creation with the beautiful harmonies of the inspirational Acapella “No Matter What”, that seeks to encourage and inspire people from all walks of life to never give up.
