Editorial Reviews
The New York Times (earlier review)
Breath control is prodigious, production smooth as silk and Jone's musical instincts make everything he plays sounds utterly spontaneous.

Album Description
Harold Jones (flute) and Colette Valentine (piano) perform repertoire spanning 3 centuries by six French composers (Faure, Chaminade, Debussy, Busser, Sancan and Satie), two Austrians (Mozart and Schubert), Chopin (Poland/France) and Afro-Americans (Hailstork, Perkinson and McDaniel, the latter two with Spirituals in classical arrangements).

Harold Jones, a native of Chicago, entered Juilliard in 1955, where he received the "Outstanding Woodwind Player" award prior to graduation. He has been a soloist with Bach Aria Orchestra, American Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonia and many other groups; has collaborated with the Audubon and Fresk Quartets, pianist Leon Bates and guitarist Peter Segal; and has appeared frequently with Today's Artists. Mr. Jones is on the faculty of the Westchester Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Manhattanville College. * Pianist Colette Valentine has performed extensively throughout the US, Asia and Europe and is featured as guest artist at the Grand Teton Music Festival each summer.

Some of the composers: Henri-Paul Busser (1872-1973) and Pierre Sancan (b.1916) both taught at the Paris Conservatory and won the Prix de Rome. * Adophus Hailstork's (b.1941) works have been performed by The New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra. * Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson (1932-2004) composed scores for feature films and jazz and popular artists including Harry Belefonte and Marvin Gaye. * William Foster McDaniel has written many classical works and has conducted Broadway and off-Broadway shows.
