Unforgotten Superb Chamber Concertos.......2003-05-09

Not completely following the compositional tone of his Berlin cohorts, Hertel maintained a dignified simplicity coupled with a galant style with charged solo passages.

These are dignified by the fine oboeist Burkhard Glaetnzer accompanied by the New Bach Collegium Musicum.

Thomas Indermuhle is one of the world's greatest oboists, standing shoulder to shoulder with the legendary Heinz Holliger and Maurice Bourge, and shows off his considerable artistry and technical ability in this ground-breaking recording of new versions of three of J S Bach's oboe concertos and several shorter cantata movements for solo oboe.

I strongly urge oboe fans the world over to track down all of his various recordings; not one fails to impress and transport the listener, and begin to experience how truly great oboe playing should sound!
