    Elisabeth Ohms is a miracle of noble, exalted singing style. Her voice seems to hang suspended in air as it issues from the speaker, not only on one note, but throughout her magnificent register. Where she lacks Latin temperament she makes up with truly intropective and word probing intentions. Her utterance is deep and inspired by a something very high above all of us. Her Abseulicher! from Fidelio is uniquely beautiful, while her Ozean, du ungeheuer is perfect in all facets of the singer's art.

    She remains one of the miracle singers that in her own way, can never be surpassed!

    A Rapturous Experience!

    It's been a year since I wrote this review. My opinion of her recordings remains the same, simply breathtaking! But I did have suspicions about her supporting method; it seems amazingly fragile which would lead to her chief fault: intonation. Many performances were not so well received in her time. Apparently at Covent Garden she sang Brunnhilde "badly" and at the Met she was extremely well received by the public but the critics had reservations; she had "bigness of concept" but suggests that her voice was too fragile for Isolde and the other heroines she chose to sing. She was goddess in Munich and beloved by Toscanini!

    There are several stellar qualities that have not been denied: she sang legato incomparably, and perhaps above all, she infused all her roles with a "moving and tragic quality." In the latter, she was compared favorably to even Frida Leider.

    AGAIN PERFECTION!!!
