Carol Ann Floyd: Premiere American Pianist is a rare treat and an inspiration. Floyd's live performance captivates the Hungarian audience and communicates a wide range of emotions. This CD of her live solo European and Hungarian debut features the premiere of Variations on Balkan Themes by American woman composer Amy Beach. It is refreshing to hear a live performance... especially on a Classical CD (without technical alterations that one usually expects). Floyd captures the exciting live setting. Her technique is clean and well established in the Haydn. Liszt's Concert Etude NO.2 displays mesmerizing light effects and the Un Sospiro is lyrical and flowing. This program could be a risky move for a debut but Floyd secures her place among top pianists with amazing octaves and moving, mesmerizing playing in Sposalizio and in the Amy Beach. The Debussy L'isle joyeuse was pure joy! This CD is a must for both classical fans and for any music lover! I hope to hear MORE from Carol Ann Floyd.
