Editorial Reviews
Album Description
The music on this recording represents the work of two living composers, writing for trombone quartet. Both composers are harmonically tonal while infusing the power of contemporary chord structures. Miss Mary Paiva has a beautiful true soprano voice that is utilized in the "The Epitaph" and "Two Songs by Matalonis Op.6." This allows for a wide range of melodic contures and subtle shades of musical timbre.
Two Songs by Matalonis Op.6, Music, Jamie Wehr, Cuarteto de la Ascensión, Mary Paiva, An excursion into modern, yet tonal concert music for trombone quartet.
