5 out of 5 stars Not Tumeni Notes. Just as many notes as are required!.......2006-06-03

Absolutely rich and sweet, and played with a very humanistic quality. I especially love the K.304: Allegro and Tempo Di Minuetto, with it's dark soulfulness subtly contradicting a lighter happier side. Great dynamics and feeling. And I appreciate the sense of presence in the recording, very clear and full with a perfect level of contrast betwixt the two instruments. I have three other versions of these compositions and this one's my favorite by far! Take it from an avid classical music listener, this one is special.

5 out of 5 stars So this is Baroque.......2002-01-24

"Seon was among the first labels in the world devoted exclusively to recordings of classical music played on instruments and in the settings the composers themselves might have used. The (Seon) label is prized for the quality of both its musical interpretations and its recorded sound."

This was enough to get me to pick up the disc, and give it a listen. The almost "high school gymnasium"sound of the Piano (not Piano Forte, which I am accustomed to) was initially a bit off-putting (this lasted about 45 seconds). The warmth and intimacy of the Baroque violin (Viola?) forms a mesmerizing and understated dialogue with the Piano. The performances show a restraint which enhances the composition in a manner which is rare.

This is very different from a clean "pure"(almost cold) modern music hall rendition -- no pyrotechnics from the performers, just mood, nuance, and enjoyment of each pull of the bow or well timed plunk of a key.

So enchanted I am mining the web for more information on these performers (Leonhardt, Sigiswald Kuijken), as well as the man who founded "Seon" in the late 1970's (Wolf Erichson).

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful and passionate music.......2000-08-23

This is a wonderful CD, with the most passionate music played by two specialists in period instruments. Every time I listen this CD, I feel nothing but hapiness. Don't wait anymore to buy it!
