this CD. Wonderful to listen and relax to after a harrowing day. Music is crisp, clear and moving. My tastes in music are eclectic. This is a wonderful addition.

Lovely collection.......2003-04-17

This is a super selection of soft and sweet works that can lull you to sleep. I particularly like this kind of CD for plane trips; I pop this CD into a portable player, slap on a set of headphones and I am soon far, far away from the unpleasantries of long airplane trips. It's also pretty fine for a candlelit dinner when you've made a lovely little chicken florentine, a rice pilaf, some kind of delicate dessert and put on your best little black dress. This is a very well-thought-out collection, and the performances are for the most part, very good ones.

With special emphasis on the variety presented in this collection, this album has a broadness of scope that will appeal to anyone who appreciates the magic of the human voice.
McCormack was perhaps the most popular entertainer in the world during his career, comparable with the superstars of today, only richer in the currency of his day.
Though purists may have criticized his shift to the popular venue as opportunism, and perhaps desertion of his training in the classical tradtions, he was simply presenting what people wanted to hear. Whether he set a pattern of career management followed by modern entertainers or was simply happiest when the accolades flowed over him matters not. The talent and richness are his legacy to us.
His range and vocal dexterity are well illustrated and represented by this larger than usual collection, and anyone with a particular favorite tune in his rather loose genre will likely find it here.
After a journey through this collection, listeners may well gain another special melody or two for addition to their personal list of "best ever" songs and singers.
Although it may be considered a bit foolish, some will choose this album for only one or two tracks. Some call that trait wasteful, but when a jewel of performance is played again and again, the teardrop may fall once more, and the heart will thrill yet again.
This album will please many musical palates, even those who claim no special fondness for "Irish Tenors."

This is a ten CD box set with a huge number of great classical piano pieces. Most are played by Jeno Jando, who gets high marks from the Penguin Guide to Compact Discs and DVDs (highly recommended in its own right for the novice and experienced classical music CD buyer) for his playing on budget labels. You will recognize many of the pieces and they will serve as a jumping off point for additional exploration of classical piano. At roughly $2 each, you can't lose!

The Laserlight label also offers a similar box set of orchestral selections "Meditation - Classical Relaxation". At the time of this writing, that boxed set enjoys a much higher sales ranking than this one. This boxed set deserves to be discovered too. Don't let the low price fool you, these are excellent recordings.

I love this CD, often putting it on repeat for a romantic evening! I especially like track number ten, since I wrote it as a teenaged girl full of passionate dreams. I am thrilled to be on a recording with Pachelbel and Beethoven and I love Mark Chait's beautiful arrangement of my song! Though all the pieces on this album are different, they flow together gracefully and create a soft, alluring background sound. Two thumbs up!
