Uncool
Editorial Reviews
Jane Ganahl, San Francisco Chronicle, December 23, 2003
Who could have guessed that this difficult transition in his life would enable him to strike comedic gold?
About the Artist
Greg Behrendt Greg Behrendt does not rock
in the traditional sense that is. Doing his first stand up sets in his early 20's, Behrendt spent the first six years of his comedy career thinking of stand up as his side gig as he slugged it out in a series of doomed alternative rock bands. A few years and hundreds of performances later, with his stand up skills honed but no record deal in sight, Greg came to the realization that those around him knew all along - his path to fame and fortune...

Album Description
A stand-up comedy event, UNCOOL is the examination of a rocker turned suburban Dad struggling to hang on to his last threads of coolness. UNCOOL explores the evolution of the male psyche as Greg Behrendt finds himself bucking the conventional entry into maturity, trying to sneak through the hipster door
"I went to see the Foo Fighters the other night and as I approached the venue, the Security Guard says, 'Excuse me. I'm going to have to take your chain wallet.' So I ask, 'Why, because of the recent terrorism and the upgrades in security?' 'No, Because you're 38.
Why does having a family mean you have to be a different person? Does moving to the suburbs for better school districts mean that you have to wear pleated khaki shorts when you mow the lawn? What's wrong with having more in common with your neighbor's son than his Mr. Fix It dad who's only three years your senior?
"
I don't have the guy gene. I can't fix it. You give me an hour, instructions and the proper tools and I'll still wind up in a pool of my own blood. My wife asked me to fix the hole in the fence so the dogs don't get out and I was like, 'Yeah we might as well just shoot the dogs
Willing to take the "uncool" hit for everybody. Greg brings the deepest, darkest fears of becoming a no-longer-relevant Gen-Xer to the surface, deconstructs the notion of "cool" and offers in it's place a new definition for adulthood.

Album Description
Quirky and experimental hard-rock mixed with 70's lounge, flavored with innovative fretless-guitar and synth-guitar. Picture an urban metal band getting unruly at a karaoke bar, or Tom Jones singing with Mr. Bungle - that's Bumblefoot's "Uncool" CD. Riding the fence between romantic and hostile, classy and profane, like a musical take-off from the script of a future Austin Powers film. Intense yet lighthearted, entertaining with a hint of bottled-up anger, a fragile balance on the verge of exploding. Often labeled "the Frank Zappa of the New Millennium", take a listen to Bumblefoot and see why...
Customer Reviews:
Best rock album of 2001.......2003-02-16
Ronald Thal is up there with the best guitarists around, has a voice that can do just about anything, writes great melodies, songs and lyrics AND is a humble, kind fellow with heart. Where is this guys Grammy dammit, and why isn't the record label promoting the hell out of this re-release ? I want to hear these songs on the radio ! I discovered Ron by downloading almost all of his back catalogue on MP3, having never heard of him before that - it was a goldmine of gigantic proportions let me tell you and it all blew me away! He is now my favourite musician, next to Mike Patton and Victor Wooten :) And like these two guys, he doesn't give a rats about monetary success or glory, he just wants to do his art and ya gotta respect that.
An amazing journey (taken from review at cdbaby.com).......2002-05-11
(taken from review at cdbaby.com) My favorite movies are the ones you can watch 10 times and discover new subtleties every time you watch them again. That's what this CD is like. It's like listening to a gig of Tony Clifton (comedian Andy Kaufman's alter-ego) with a metal band behind him. What really killed me is the last song, unlisted in the CD credits, it's a half-hour long with a repeating groove, where Bumblefoot does a vocal duet with a trombone and ocassionally goes off on spontaneous rants. Probably the only 30-minute song I'll ever be able to listen to in full. I guess this can be considered a concept album, but not in the sci-fi way you commonly see. And the 2 live-sounding segues are so funny! Imagine the worst frontman in a wedding band saying all the wrong things in an attempt to be sincere. There's still alot of trademark crazy Bumblefoot guitarwork on the cd, but mostly with a guitar-synth creating the illusion of an amazing flutist, pianist, or horn player. Definitely a unique album for any record collection, and one of those albums that gives you a sudden unexplainable "need" to go on a binge listening to it for 3 days straight and re-discovering it every few months...

Customer Reviews:
the cake was muy bueno.......2006-01-09
I laughed from second one until the very end. Definitely recommend to anyone, but especially if you are:
1. over 30
2. married or living with a romantic partner
3. sarcastic or snarky
4. ever attended or hosted a "game night"
Great Comedy CD.......2005-02-07
This is one of the best comedy cds I have heard in some time. Greg has summed up what it is like to be on the other end of 30. As a member of the uncool army I applaud his work and laughed from track 1 to track 25.
Uncool is the coolest!.......2004-09-06
I am not a critic or a writer just a big fan of comedy. So, I will keep it short and simple. This comedy album is one of the all time great comedy albums. I highly recommend it. CD is just as good as his live show. So buy the CD, go to his concerts and laugh, laugh, laugh! You won't be sorry.
