    4 out of 5 stars Cool cool cool!.......2005-03-25

    In the few years that Morcheeba has been around, the band has been able to carve a niche among club-hoppers and easy music listeners likewise, with its blend of trip-hop, infectious beats and amazing vocals. This CD is a compilation of some of their biggest hits, including 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and 'Be yourself'.
    My personal favourites include 'Undress me now', 'The sea' and 'What New York couples fight about'. I would have given this compilation 5 stars, but it misses 2 great tracks in the oriental-sounding 'A well deserved break' (from the album 'Fragments of Freedom) and the phenomenal 'Three orange whips' (from the album 'Blindfold'). All said and done, this is a GREAT compilation and a perfect introduction to the music of Morcheeba. BUY IT IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, and you won't be disappointed!!!

    1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or money!.......2004-06-14

    This is the worst CD I have bought in YEARS! Morsheeba seems to have all of the right elements. The music is good, the singing is good, but it does not fit. I think the writing and lyrics are a bit off and may the reason that it does not come together. I am a very open minded person and I look for the good in everything, but just could not find it here.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Compilation.......2004-02-18

    After downloading the music (legally, using the new subscription-based Napster), I knew I had to buy this music. But not this album. I hunted down the version mentioned by another reviewer that includes a DVD. It appears on Amazon as "Parts of the Process (CD & DVD) [LIMITED EDITION]." It costs more, but it'll be cool to see the group performing live.

    I love the electronica genre because of the near-universal presence of ethereal female vocals.... and this group is the epitome of that!!!

    Great job Morcheeba! Keep it coming!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Stimulating & Relaxing at the same time , jazzy/acoustic..........2004-02-14

    This cd or any music of morcheeba's is amazing. You can listen to it at any time, any mood...it fits right in. The singer has a sultry jazzy voice and the music is slower paced but the songs that are more upbeat are very stimulating and still mood inspiring. This is by far the best new band that I've been introduced to in years!

    5 out of 5 stars This should be a part of your collection!.......2003-11-30

    I have to a admit that I bought this Best Of only because I heard What's Your Name on the radio and I liked it. I didn't appreciate Morcheeba much but hearing this album made me change my mind. They're songs are absolutely wonderful.
    They're strongest at the ballads (The Sea, Otherwise, Blindfold, Part Of The Process, Undress Me Now, Over And Over, What New York Couples Fight About, World Looking In). The special ones for me are The Sea and Part Of The Process. Since I live by the sea I don't need to explain the first song, but the other has wonderful lyrics (I don't realize how good lyrics they can write), it simply touches something in you. What New York Couples Fight About is a great song. We were all in love so we can relate to it.
    But the "happy" songs are good too. Especially What's Your Name and Rome Wasn't Built In A Day. Actually Rome... was they're first hit.
    The special edition album includes a bonus DVD. It contains 3 live performances from they're Live At Brixton Academy DVD (The Sea, Part Of The Process, Trigger Hippie).

    A nice comprehensive collection of the best of Morcheeba!

    5 out of 5 stars Addictive beyond belief.......2003-10-06

    I have never heard of Morcheeba before prior to a few weeks ago. One day I carpooled with my co-worker and he happened to have The Big Calm CD in the dash, and I really liked it. I decided to buy this album to check out Morcheeba, and boy, do I like them! I carry this CD with me from my office to my car to my home back to my car and to the office. The songs are all that WELL made, you will listen to nothing else but this for weeks. Do yourself a favor though, and buy the CD edition only, because (in my humble opinion) it's not worth paying $6 more to get the CD/DVD limited edition. You are only getting these songs performed live @ Brixton Academy (Nov 02) on the DVD:

    ::The Sea
    ::Part of the Process
    ::Trigger Hippie

    Not that I'm complaining. This is *definitely* the best $20 I have spent in a long long time. I cannot get enough of this CD!

    5 out of 5 stars Xstatic Process..........2003-07-27

    One of the most underrated bands from the UK, this well-revered trip-hop trio has given us the best in the genre. Come 2003, their record company has decided to put out a greatest hits/best of package that spans all their albums - Who Can you Trust (96), Big Calm (98) and Fragments of freedom (00) and Changro (02).

    Never one to be bogged down formula, they have constantly strived to experiment with their creative talents and hence, come up with some of the best trip-hop and chill-out music of the last 7 years. Often compared to Massive Attack and Tricky, Morcheeba is made special with the enticing and soulful vocals of Skye Edwards who has accompanied their songs.

    In recent times, the band has futher evolved to incorporate traces of soul, hip-hop, country, rock and pop into a seamless string of hynotic tracks. You get all the songs that made them acclaimed as well as two new ones, What's Your Name ft. Big Daddy Kane in the middle and Can't Stand it tagged at the back. Not just merely new additions to a hits package, these two tracks, especially the latter, serve as an extension to the trio's luminous career, further strengthening their foothold in the world of hip-hop.

    Here's to their brand new album soon. Just can't wait.

    5 out of 5 stars Cool!.......2003-07-21

    A really cool CD with a bonus DVD. Contains ALMOST all the best Morcheeba songs plus 2 new ones, with "What's Your Name" being the best one. This is trip-hop at its best with two of the best songs in the world: "Over And Over" and "What New York Couples Fight About". You have to have this, it's really worth it!!!

    4 out of 5 stars Morcheeba's Singles.......2003-07-18

    With four albums under their belt, Morcheeba (The Godfrey Brothers & Skye Edwards), or their company, have decided to release a compilation that spans their work.

    Starting out as a trip-hop band that has quickly evolved into a eclectic pop trio, this collection has everything that the casual fan would desire.

    Chronology isn't the order of the day with this disc, but it's easy to figure out which song is from which album once you've read the wry "history" of the band. Also of note are comments for each song written by Paul Godfrey, the guy who provides the beats.

    The songs range from languid grooves (Never An Easy Way, The Sea) to alt-countrified pop (Part Of The Process), to unashamed Motown knock-offs (Rome Wasn't Built In A Day), to the heavily percussive (Let Me See). Skye Edwards' voice is the star of the show. Sweet, without being saccharine, her singing sounds perfect atop the instrumentation, particularly their earlier sound (Moog Island, Trigger Hippie).

    There are two new songs on the disc (What's Your Name ft. Big Daddy Kane, Can't Stand It), the latter being the more memorable of the two. It flies like the pretty pop tune it is.

    For the casual fan, this is the best bet.

    For the ardent fan, it's not essential.

    Also included is a DVD sampler of their November 2002 concert from Brighton, England. A nice inclusion, if not particularly spetacular.
