Chick Corea's 90's sound.......2007-05-14

Magical keys ... it's like Chick influenced 96.9% of ALL music since the period from the 1970's until this day, which I would vouge for 100% !!!

CRISP drums, precision Lead guitar.
Re-Enter the great 90's with a proper Jazz CD from our Maestro Mr. Chick Corea and HIS BEST BAND ever, and I rate them the best band in the whole World due to their musicianship.

The last track is the best track and will leave you thinking like "Why didn't I discover this treasure years earlier ?!", I tell you, it could've changed the path of my life for sure.

This album opened up the World of Maestro Chick Corea for me. Yet my favourite remains "Elektric Band" '84.

The Electric Band in top form!.......2007-03-21

I love this cd so much I just had to write a review for others to know that this is easily the Chic Corea Electric Bands best cd from their earlier catalog. I own over 1500 cd's in my collection of mostly jazz and fusion and this cd never gets old. I still listen to it all the time and it absolutely smokes from top to bottom. Every song grooves and is very inspired. This is easily some of Dave Weckl's best drumming as well as some very beautiful and melodic lines from chic corea are all over this cd. If you enjoy funky, latin and brazillian fused modern jazz fusion that just GROOVES nonstop, then by this cd. You will not be sorry and it does not have any cheesy 80's synth and programming like some of their other earlier albums. ALL the compositions are really cool and original as well and the recording quality sounds excellent too. Trust me and buy this cd, it is worth every penny.

Wowzers.......2007-03-09

From the second I popped this CD in, the grooves of this album just grabbed a hold of me. Every song has just a great rhythm and vibe. If you like funky, melodic, and finely tuned jazz this is IT!
There is just no one like Chick on this whole planet, one of my favorites of all time.

As to say I luv this album, I still have it on tape but asap I'll have it on CD and collect both on tape and CD too. Chick Corea's bad y'know. He always be more aggressive and more soundable. He worked w/ everyone from Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke, Gary Burton, GRP All-Star Big Band, Dave Weckl, John Pattitucci, to name a few on my list.

this was my introuduction to Chick Corea here since 1997 or '98 'round that time. This is sure more styleable and pretty diverse. It has ev'rybody like Mr. Eric Mariental, Dave Weckl, John Pattiucci, etc. I mean an all-star guest of musicians all here working w/ the man himself. He's a Genius.

Songs that I adore are: the title track, Little Things that Count, Jammin E. Cricket and alot of others too.

Get this 1 if u luv fusion or jazz alike.

No Filler Here.......2005-08-16

Of the six Elektric Band studio releases, this is still my favorite. Amazing playing, great songwriting and outstanding engineering make this an incredible fusion disc.

This release is more of a band effort with Patitucci and Weckl collaborating on six of the ten songs. There is quite an assortment of tunes... funky grooves on "Beneath the Mask" and "Jammin E. Cricket, the lush atmosphere of "A Wave Goodbye", Latin influence on "Free Step", all out shredding on "Charged Particles", and the syncopated rhythms and time changes of "Illusions". The order of songs is perfect as every song compliments the next and the entire CD flows wonderfully.

This is a must-have for any fusion collection.

Never Gets Old.......2003-04-02

I''ve had this album for about a year now, and have it in constant rotation. The complexity and beauty of the songs insures that they always sound unpredictable and new to my ears. I've been turning friends on to this album. Highest recommendation: Lesbian music for lesbians who aren't afraid to think and feel at the same time.

So much of math rock seems derived from hardcore emo, I'm glad to hear a band treat the tenderer side. Don't get me wrong, I'd even work out to this stuff. They can really rock out. They just don't have to scream to make you feel it. Impress/freak out your friends with a truly unique album.

Marvellous Math Rock.......2002-07-25

V For Vendetta are an absolutely brilliant math rock band. Their songs are beautifully complex and rewarding. The album has songs in different styles, but it is extremely focused and cohesive. Beautiful guitar and drum work are complemented by tender vocals. I can't recommend this album highly enough.

ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE, this is NOT a book about Bauhaus containing much straight text, but a collection of various press clippings, reviews, ticket stubs, concert dates, album/singles cover art, etc in a SCRAP-BOOK format. The most unfortunate aspect is that some of the items overlap each other, as if glued haphazardly into a scrapbook. Therefore one cannot actually read a great deal of the information that was used to comprise the contents. (!?!) It's very odd since this book is only intended for serious fans of Bauhaus who would want to read all those things, not casual listeners. I've actually owned this since it first came out, but only thought today to write this review.

Beyond that outrageously unforgivable error in judgement by Andrew J. Brooksbank, who is credited with it's creation, the `book' can be somewhat enjoyable and still contains a great deal of information about the band and its members. If you're looking for a more substantial book about Bauhaus, check out, Dark Entries : Bauhaus and Beyond by Ian Shirley.

Now the CD - the CD is of much greater value than the `book'. It contains 8 tracks from a 1979 recording session. Interestingly those songs written in 1979 were used on 3 of their 4 studio albums. The sound is raw. But I rather like them that way, especially an extremely aggressive version of `Nerves'. I only wished the version on `In the Flat Field' was that hardcore!!! It's really a lesson in the origins of Goth and how much punk was a major influence. I only wish the goth bands of today would take a page from the Bauhaus song book and try to be a little more creative. From punk, to reggae, to ambient, to darkwave, to pop, to avant-garde, to funk, Bauhaus really experimented a lot and that to me is one of the main reasons why they have remained 'popular' for so long.

Collector's Delight.......2001-10-31

I came in contact with the publisher about a year or so before this came out, so it was much anticipated. While I was more interested in the early recordings, I was quite happy with the quality of the book, as well. But for those die-hard fans out there who want every version of every song, here's the real draw of this package: the version of 'Kamikaze Dive' is NOT the same as the album version of 'Dive'. Instead, it's very uptempo and happy, in comparison, but with that same dark, raw sound only Bauhaus can deliver. A nice little treat. And I wish there was more to the song 'Shows', as it sounds like a great number. Alas, it fades away just as the vocals get started. One thing is for certain, this album truly captures the fire and angst of their first album. I recommend it.

A Bio of the band and beyond.......2000-06-21

This book has all the information that you would ever need to know about Bauhaus. From past tour dates, old reviews from their shows, a complete discography, and more. The book also mentions what the band memebers have been doing since after the break up in 1983. Also includes a CD of songs from the studio in 1979. A must for any die hard Bauhaus/Love and Rockets/Peter Murphy fan.
