Witty and Charming.......2000-08-15
This CD is fun and action packed as much as you could hope for in a CD. He uses quotes from many famous folk and classical songs and implements them into his own compositions with a bit of a twist. For example, in Classical rap, where he raps about being the best rapper in the world with terrific brass interludes between the verses. The orchestra plays a clip from Vivaldi's "Spring" and then he twists it into a record "wicky-wicky" to the same tune. He introduces every peice before it is played in a hilarious manner in which he talks about the peice and something else that was going on in the composers mind as he wrote the peice. Starting at the begining-
This is Professor Pete- Peter Schickele introduces himself as well as P.D.Q.
1712 Overture- A takeoff of the 1812 overture of course, with snatches of some famous folktunes thrown in here and there.
Oedipus Tex- A parady of the Greek Myth Oedipus Rex where he murders his father who is the King. Oedipus Tex lives a life like his brother but in Texas style.
The next tracks are more comedy than exactly music like the WTWP station giving options over the phone about how you would like to hear a certain peice of music. Cooking French... is a woman cooking a French gourmet meal but flubbing up the entire time.
What I have already said pretty much sums it up. The rest of the tracks are equally hilarious and as witty as all the others. If you buy this CD you will not regret it no matter what type of music you listen to.

Product Description
Buck Howdy saddles up for another fun corral full of cowboy tunes for the whole family. His newest release, GIDDYUP!, features an engaging mix of Western and bluegrass style tunes. The new CD features 7 original Buck Howdy songs, and 7 other tracks appealing to kids of all ages. Guest stars Trout Fishing in America and Laurie Berkner join for three of the sing-alongs. Buck Howdy songs are sure to have everybody rootin’ and tootin’ around the campfire, dinner table, or even on those long holiday road trips. Like his first family CD, Skidaddle!, Giddyup! features Buck’s warm vocals, laid over some of the best cowboy music around. XM Satellite Radio calls him “The next Roy Rogers,” and his music stands firmly in the great American tradition so well trail-blazed by Roy, Gene Autry and Tex Ritter. Buck’s songs invite listeners to gallop along with cowboys traversing the Old West: “Ride, Cowboy Ride,” “Pecos Bill,” and “Happy Trails.” Some of the songs evoke the joys of the great outdoors, like “Hayride.” At least one tune pokes fun at the downside of nature – “My Favorite Kind of Bugs.” By the last track, listeners will want to replay these tunes all over again.

I'm a kid at heart and when I first heard Buck Howdy I knew that my kids would love him as well. I was right.
Buck Howdy Rocks!!!.......2006-12-07
Buck Howdy is the only CD I have ever bought my kids that I havn't wanted to run through the paper shredder after a few days. The music is fantastic, wholsome, and 100% bearable
What a Guy!.......2006-05-18
We first discovered Buck Howdy when he played a benifit concert at my children's school last year. He donated his time as a fund raiser for our school. My kids and I had a blast listening and danceing to his music. We purchased his CD's that night. My kids (ages 8, 6 and 3) continue to love listening to his music. We were lucky enough to have him back last week and I made sure to tell my neighbors. They came and loved his music as much as we do. Thank you Buck for your generosity.
We love Buck Howdy.......2006-05-17
We discovered Buck Howdy when we borrowed a CD at the library. It was so entertaining we had to own his albums. My sons (5 & 7 years old) particularly enjoy "Buffalo Bob," about a cowboy's flatulence problems which result from a diet consisting only of beans. It's very silly, and a tiny bit rude, which makes it even more fun. His lyrics are amusing, clever, and easy on adult ears. From his fiirst album we like "Buckaroo," which gives advice on what to do if you want to be a cowboy ("Can't wear a suit with a railroad tie, can't honk a saddle horn and make it toot"). We hope he comes East for some concerts!

When Boy Howdy's single, "She'd Give Anything," became an unexpected hit, Curb Records wanted to back it up with an album as quickly as possible. Rather than wait for the quartet to finish recording a full dozen songs, the company rushªreleased the tracks already in the can as a specially discounted six-song mini-album and named it after the hit. The ploy served two purposes: It allowed the company to capitalize on a hot single and it allowed fans to check out the band with less money down. --Geoffrey Himes

EXCELLENT!!! TO BAD IT DIDN'T HAVE MORE SONGS ON IT!.......2006-02-25
I'm very sceptical on some of the newer country singers, and those who have been out, but I have not had a chance to give them a listen. I'm very appreciative of the chance to listen to "song samples" before I order a CD. This is an outstanding group, and It wouldn't be hard to take having them release more albums if possible.
Sonic Excellence!.......2005-09-21
Whatever year this album was made makes no difference. For each song is timeless. I recently saw Cary Park sing in concert with other band, and he is a superb musician.
Never mind the name - this is great country music.......2005-08-15
Boy Howdy comprised Jeffrey Steele (bass, lead vocals), Cary Park (guitars, fiddle, mandolin), Larry Park (guitars, fiddle) and Hugh Wright (drums, conga percussion). The group came together in 1990 and disbanded in 1996. Jeffrey wrote most of the group's songs and has established himself as a successful country songwriter, providing songs for Tim McGraw (The cowboy in me), Collin Raye (Couldn't last a moment), Faith Hill (When the lights go down), Diamond Rio (Unbelievable), Rascal Flatts (These days), Trace Adkins (Chrome), John Michael Montgomery (Hello L-O-V-E), LeAnn Rimes (Big deal) and Montgomery Gentry (Speed, Hell yeah, My town).
Boy Howdy recorded two full-length albums and a mini-album, with their first full-length album appearing in 1992 (Welcome to Howdywood) and their second in 1995 (Bigger fish to fry). In 1994, they scored a number one country hit with She'd give anything (later covered by R+B singer Gerald Levert as I'd give anything) and another country hit with They don't make them like that anymore. A mini-album (this set) containing these two songs, three other new songs and one song taken from their debut album (A cowboy's born with a broken heart) was released to capitalize on the hits. I can only assume that they didn't have enough material for a full-length album at the time. None of their music had been released in the UK up till then, so the UK record company released an album also titled She'd give anything and with the same artwork as the American release, but containing all fifteen tracks then available - the five then-new tracks followed by the ten from their debut album.
Although this mini-album contains just six songs, it contains the three Boy Howdy songs that really matter - She'd give anything. They don't make them like that anymore and A cowboy's born with a broken heart. This last song is solidly traditional but is not really typical of their music, which has a contemporary feel to it. Although their music doesn't exactly sound like any other group, fans of Alabama and Sawyer Brown will probably find Boy Howdy to their liking - if they can ignore that silly name.
great cd .......2005-07-21
when i first heard the song she'd give anything i thought it was a true love song, when it came on radio i called and requested it everyday and now that i have it i can listen to it all the time the other songs on the how ever are also great and entertaning i love the cd and hope to buy some more at your store sometime soon

Album Description
A delightful combination of classic songs from the past like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "Alley Oop" and "The Unicorn" (as they've never been done before) and original offerings such as "Buckaroo", "Skidaddle!" and "One Day Soon" from a great new artist. Buck Howdy delivers these recordings with fun and freshness unmatched in the children's music market.
Kenny Curtis, Program Director of XM Satellite Radio says it best, "From Cowboys to Cow-pies, 'Skidaddle!' has the Wild West covered! Buck Howdy's resonant, textured drawl is rich with character and flavor, and the CD is a wonderful change-of-pace (literally) from much of the manic programming that leaps out of the small screen at kids today. He's either the next Roy Rogers or the previous one reincarnated. I can't decide which."

Buck's music is magic.......2006-05-17
I have a little baby who does not like to ride in the vehichle, but as soon as we turn on any of Buck Howdy's music she stops crying. I would recommend his CD's to anyone. They have been a lifesaver to us.
Pure Country.......2006-05-17
Let your kids imaginations soar. A great sing a long CD for the whole family. A must have for long car rides.
Ghost riders on the drive!.......2005-03-18
We originally discovered Buck Howdy at our local library, it was love at first listen and we renewed it the maximum times allowed. Recently my daughter age 5 wanted to listed to "that ghost riders" song and my son age 2 was known to recite "if there's a skunk in your bunk...," so I decided it was time to buy our own copy. We love it now even more! All the tracks are singable and enjoyable to listen to regardless of age. Like other parents have said Buck Howdy is a CD that can keep on playing even if you ever find yourself alone in the vehicle. We highly recommend the Buck Howdy - Skidaddle CD to everyone and just bought another copy for our children's Montessori school.
mommy of 8,7 and 2 yo.......2003-10-01
This CD is a must-have for your wanna-be-cowboys. All my kids (even my 7 yo daughter) LOVE it. My husband and I love it! Keeps everyone happy in the car and happy at home. We play it at home when we get in from school. It puts everyone in a great mood and the kids are all dancing and even Daddy is dancing to it when he comes home! It makes a happy home! I can't say enough good things. Great sing-along, toe-tapping music. Just Skidaddle, and BUY IT!

Jello + Melvins=Fun Sludge-Punk Satire.......2006-07-04
Oh, and don't forget Adam Jones from Tool as he adds some great atmospheric guitar to about half the tracks here. It may not be the DK of old with Jello manically leaping out of your speakers, but he is not the wiry creep he was in those days, just a 40-something punk celebrity. With the help of the Melvins, he is doing just about as well as Joe Strummer was doing in his 40's with albums like _Streetcore_, which is definitely saying something.
If you come here expecting straight-up Melvins or DK, you may as well go to their old releases, as this is something of a different beast. Think DK playing "stoner rock" or the faster Melvins with social commentary in their lyrics. Really, the Melvins seem to benefit when they have someone extra performing with them in the last ten-odd years, like the release with Lustmord they put out a couple of years ago. Maybe their dada sludge just dried up on them some, as I don't remember a Melvins-by-themselves release I loved since _Houdini_. So the relationship is beneficial to both sides.
It's a blast to hear the band go out into space (which creates some heroically long songs) after Biafra's tirades, some of which are hilarious, like usual. We get to laugh at punk's further commodification in "Those Dumb Punk Kids (Will Buy Anything)" with some ludicrous images: "if our scam works/ What a bandwagon it will be/ Malcolm in the Middle in the Misfits [. . .]/ Gary Coleman in Black Flag" and more. We also get some illuminating soul-baring and autobiography: "Felt I had to confess/ In Ginsberg's apartment/ My literary background's mostly songs and cartoons/ He said 'Oh, that's just fine'/ I sort of felt relieved/ But when I hurl my word bombs/ How much should be believed." No, it's definitely not the infinite provocation of the older days, but rather an older, wiser Jello, which all in all can only be a good thing if he's sharing his insights with us in a sincere fashion, which he chooses to do at several points here.
The best thing here, and what rescues this from being some kind of feel-good "punk supergroup," the kind Biafra condemns, is that neither Biafra nor the Melvins seem to be revisiting some elusive old glory days nor scrambling for some equally elusive relevance in the modern context. Both parts of this equation just do what they do best in the spirit of the new millennium: the Melvins rock in an exploratory fashion, Jello rants while never resting on his laurels. From this we have a release that, while not quite blowing a listener away like the best of the releases from both of these agents, is thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking from start to finish, while often even managing to challenge a listener. If this collaboration continues, it's easy to see that much better things could be yet to come . . . giving at least this reviewer the fleeting hope (for the millionth time) that punk is, indeed, not dead.
If you want something other than the DK, try spoken word, or Lard, or No Means No, or DOA, or Mojo Nixon, or . . . .......2006-06-02
I love Jello. Be it with Lard or the Dead Kennedys or No Means No. But . . .
His lyrics here are horrible. They're plenty bitter, but not that intelligent. The Melvins didn't really know what to do with a singing style other than the voice as another instrument style of Buzzo. But hey, that's just my opinion.
Jello & The Melvins.......2006-05-21
This is the second release from the collaboration of Dead Kennedy's singer Jello and Seattle's The Melvins. Now being an Alice Cooper fan I just had to pick this up since the first track is 'Halo Of Flies" from Alice Cooper's 1971 'Killer' album. Jello must be a fan of Alice because I heard him say during a Punk documentry on PBS that when forming the Dead Kennedys they wanted to write songs like Alice Cooper wrote about vampires and etc... only The Dead Kennedys wrote about politics but using the same writting styles as Alice. So I take this as a nod to Alice from Jello growing up as kid listening to his own lp collections.
Besides 'Halo of Flies" this CD is like a breath of fresh air after listening to all the other music that's been on the radio. The Melvins are a great compliment to Jello and they sound they've been together for years.
I have to add that you have to check out the art work on this CD. Done by an artist who's wewbsite is listed in the booklet.
I'm at a loss for words.......2005-12-18
I love absolutely everything about this album. The only depressing thing is knowing that we won't see Kevin on any future albums.
If you are a Melvins or Jello Biafra fan do yourself a favor and get this album as soon as possible. It will be one of the best things you hear all year.
Melvins & Jello - a perfect match. even better than "Never Breathe...".......2005-10-29
being a huge fan of both Jello Biafra and the Melvins makes this release a no-brainer. there's a cover of Alice Cooper's "Halo Of Flies" of which they do a great job, and there's a live updated version of the DK classic California Uber Ales with new lyrics that puts Schwartzanegger in his place. Jello even has a song that he wrote attacking the whole greedy punk rock re-union trend going on right now with certain bands that insist on excluding the most important member (hmmm, I wonder where this came from?). with this album it seems like Jello is really trying to get past the whole painful split with his former DK bandmates resulting in the loss of all legal control over any DK recordings and rights over the DK name. I admire him for trying to get on with his life. with the whole Jello vs. DK's war, I have to honestly say that I just can't pick a side. I love them both. this album is definitely one of the best post-DK albums he's ever been involved with. and with the Melvins as your back-up band, you really can't go wrong with that. hopefully, they will keep this collaboration going for a while.

Long before the current mini-revival in Western music, Riders in the Sky harmonized about lonesome trails, tumblin' tumbleweeds, and big Montana skies. Two decades on, lead singer Ranger Doug still croons and yodels with the best of them, but what sets the trio apart is their wide stylistic range. With Ranger Doug on acoustic guitar, Woody Paul on fiddle, and Too Slim on bass, the trio are capable of much more than romantic cowboy melodies. On A Great Big Western Howdy the Riders expertly lasso dramatic narratives ("A Border Romance"), romping swing ("Wah-Hoo"), and three-part gospel harmonies. And Too Slim remains the wittiest comic sidekick on record, as he proves on the dizzily hilarious "Ballad of Palindrome." --Michael McCall

Can you wear the pits off a CD?.......2000-12-02
I purchased this CD based on a review, having never heard a song by the trio. The day it arrived I popped it into the stereo on the way to work. As the infectious harmonies, yodels and fiddle playing filled the car during "Wahoo," I got a grin *so* big the corners of my mouth damn near met at the back of my neck (which woulda caused the top of my head to slide right off, as everyone knows). I enjoy every song so much that I bought another copy for the office, and I'm going to see the Riders perform live on Dec. 15. I can't recommend them highly enough. Good, clean fun.
Wahoo.......2000-07-29
After listening to this CD a few times, I started wearing a big Stetson hat. It has improved my ability to yodel. The music, that is.
Wah Hoo!.......1999-12-16
I've been a Riders fan for years and they keep getting better and better. Don't let the cowboy label scare you away...I am a big fan of all kinds of music from opera to klezmer and these guys are one of the most entertaining acts you can ever listen to (or see). "Ballad of Pallindrome" will give you a good idea of the comedy of Too Slim and Woody Paul that shines in their live shows, while "Wah Hoo!" shows their versatility as musicians as they swing with the best of them. And for pure harmonizing, "Cowboy Camp Meeting" shows you what Riders can do "unplugged". A true joy from start to finish. I introduced my 13year old nephew to Riders and he thinks they are "too cool". A great CD for car rides with the family.

Followers of Teenage Fanclub will find no surprises on Howdy, as the band members continue to cultivate material from territory seeded by classic popsters such as the Byrds, Big Star, and XTC. Evoking the past while sounding perpetually contemporary is the talent upon which this group's longevity is based, and all 12 songs on this album feature lovelorn characters and vagabond hearts paraded before backdrops of the big, bouncy pop sounds that characterized 1970s chart-toppers. In the early 1990s (circa Thirteen), Teenage Fanclub used this sound to rail against alternative music scenesterism and its tendency to make, and glorify, one-hit wonders. But three albums later, the band members' anger has blunted and their focus has turned inward, leaving them prone to sharp introspection. With sweetly intelligent lyrics, a consistently epic sound on every well-crafted song, and Beach Boys-esque vocal harmonies that showcase the three singer-songwriters' enormous talents, Howdy is as good an album to own as almost any other by this enduring band. --Sarah A. Sternau

TFC keeps it simple.......2005-06-15
I almost gave this CD away, because the first few listens were very disappointing compared to TFC's other efforts. I felt that Howdy is basically a repeat of the previous album, Songs from Northern Britain. I do think that Songs is a superior effort. But I was determined to give Howdy a few more chances, because I truly respect TFC and what they STAND FOR: simple and heartfelt songs coming from a guitar pop tradition stretching back to the Beatles and Byrds. They must be the most unpretentious band out there today, and the most democratic. Norman, Gerry, and Raymond share equal songwriting space. Anyway...these are all things I respect a great deal, so I gave Howdy a few more listens. I discovered that it takes time for these songs to sink in, because on the surface they sound like a mere rehash of the previous album. TFC has found their own sound which works for them, and sometimes a band does not need to progress stylistically with every album. Their approach is tried and true. They know who they are.
As to the songs themselves, Raymond has emerged as a writer of equal standing with Gerry. For the first time, I am quite disappointed with Norman's songs, and this is why I held back the top rating. I think his material is dispensable on this record. The more I hear Howdy, the more I like Raymond and Gerry's songs, and the less I like Norman's. But this is also OK. Norman wrote a good share of their best songs in the past, and perhaps it's now time for Raymond to shine. His songs are all very well written, arranged, and performed. His melodies and chord progressions are simple yet effective and unique, always with an unexpected little twist in there somewhere. "The Sun Shines From You," and "My Uptight Life" are my favorites of his songs here. Gerry's songs are always very refreshing and moving, and Howdy is no exception. He is a classic pop songwriter, no question about it.
So basically, the highlights are the Raymond and Gerry songs. The Norman songs are average...not bad, just not as great as the songs from the other two writers. In fact, "Dumb Dumb Dumb" is quite annoying! But again, this band is a true democracy among the three writers, and as I said, Norman was bound to take a back seat at some point. There is nothing wrong with this. Raymond was the underdog for quite a while himself, and now he is showing significant progress. Gerry's material is, as always, excellent. But I would say that sometimes I wish Gerry would articulate his lyrics a little better, sometimes I can't make out everything he is singing. Raymond and Norman both do a better job in that department. But despite that, Gerry's songs are still outstanding, all four of them. The production on this record is--as always with TFC--clear, clean, cohesive.
Therefore I give this record four stars as a good record of straightforward songs by a straightforward songwriting band. It's not a departure from what we heard on Songs from Northern Britain, and it's not quite as strong as that record, either. But it's still a worthwhile effort from a band who ultimately deserves a great deal of RESPECT for sticking together despite apathy from the music industry, for staying democratic, and for sticking with what they love to do...writing guitar-driven pop songs. They've outlasted just about every other band from their era who attempted to do the same thing, and they've remained a true BAND, not a collection of hired hands performing one producer/writer's material. If for no other reason than this, they deserve our respect.
wow...amazing music.......2004-03-26
I had never heard of Teenage Fanclub before I heard this CD. I checked out "I Need Direction" and didn't think it was that great at first, but eventually I starting liking it quite a bit. This led me to check out Howdy!, which is one of the greatest finds I've made...
At first this album didn't catch my attention at all. But as I listened to it more, it quickly grew to become one of the best albums I've heard. These individual songs don't hit you like a brick, but instead they welcome you to sit back and just day dream. If you allow it to, the upbeat melodies lifts your spirits in the way a 12 year-old kid finds excitement in an amusement park. You can find exhilaration around every corner.
I agree with the previous reviewer that "Near You" is one of the best pop songs out there. Of course, "I Need Direction" is also a masterpiece on its own. Another one of my personal favorites is "Cul de Sac", which can always soothen the mood. It's a wonder why I didn't like this album the first time round. But even though there are many stand out songs, the album needs to be listened to as a whole to get the full picture. If you didn't given this album a chance, you should listen to it a couple more times and see if you like it then. But if you have never heard this, you really should give this album a shot, even if you've never heard of "Teenage Fanclub".
Beautifully made pop.......2003-12-23
I can't imagine a Teenage Fanclub fan not loving this CD. Unfortunately, I can imagine a lot of people not loving this CD but that's only because the masses have such bad taste. This CD is one of the best pop albums to come out in years. "Near You" is one of the most perfect pop songs ever recorded. "Howdy" is chock full of hooks, harmonies and melodies. What more could anyone want?
A change, but still great.......2003-08-09
On Howdy! TF tones down their usual power chords. This may be a softer sound for the band, but it is not at all like Travis (as one review suggests.) This is one of the band's most melodic efforts, and it's full of great songs! Thoroughly enjoyable! A must for any Fanclub fan!
Weak.......2003-04-21
This is weak, like Travis or something. For a band who released tons of great records, this is the worst. Get back to strumming power chords and doing those 3 part harmony things. This is just depressing.

Pre-"Sixteen Tons" Ernie!.......2006-07-18
This CD represents some of Ernie Ford's earlier recordings, covering the years 1949-1954. Ford was decidedly a country singer during this period, as most of these tracks will attest. But the disc closes with two notable exceptions: "River of No Return" and "Give Me Your Word", indicating that Ernie Ford was not to be stereotyped or underestimated.
Ernest Jennings Ford was a conservatory-trained singer, and his vocal flexibility is evident throughout this disc. These recordings, originally made for Capitol in the USA, also benefitted from sharp production, and the participation of some of the finest session musicians of the time. For those reasons alone, this CD would be worth hearing.
But add to that some really fine songs that reward repeated hearings. "Tennessee Local" is a charmer; the aforementioned "River of No Return" (title song from a motion picture) is hauntingly emotional; and several of Ford's early hit recordings are here, including "Anticipation Blues", "I Ain't Gonna Let It Happen No More", and "Shot-Gun Boogie".
There are 29 tracks on this disc, totalling over 75 minutes. The sound quality, originating with Capitol's meticulous engineering, and skillfully transferred to CD by ASV, is quite good. ASV, an English label, has been busy for several years releasing nicely-restored vintage American popular and jazz recordings in collections like this one. Shame on us in the states for making others preserve our entertainment legacy!
"Howdy, Pea Pickers" is a fine compact disc at a sensible price, and presents a good overview of Ernie Ford's music during the five-year period before "Sixteen Tons" became a breakthrough crossover hit and made him nationally known. After years of neglect, some of Ford's music is finally beginning to resurface (albeit mostly on import labels). But even with competition, this CD is a good value for the abundance of music it offers and its good sound. If you are a fan of Tennessee Ernie and his music, buy this collection with confidence.

Never mind the name - this is great country music.......2005-08-18
Boy Howdy recorded two full-length albums and a mini-album, with their first full-length album appearing in 1992 (this one) and their second in 1995 (Bigger fish to fry). None of their music had been released in the UK up till then, so the UK record company released an album also titled She'd give anything and with the same artwork as the American release, but containing all fifteen tracks then available. If you have (or buy) the UK edition of She'd give anything, you won't need this.
This album, their debut, contains the song that gave Boy Howdy their first taste of success - A cowboy's born with a broken heart. This last song is solidly traditional but is not really typical of their music, which has a contemporary feel to it. As if to emphasize their varied influences, the album includes a cover (the only cover here) of a Kinks pop classic from the sixties - You really got me. The Kinks did it as an R+B song but it lends itself well to a rocking contemporary country interpretation. The remaining songs contain a mix of ballads, mid-tempo and rocking up-tempo songs, all of which sound brilliant. Apart from the tracks already mentioned, I particularly like If her heart ain't in Memphis, Justine and If this is love, but there are plenty of other great songs here. No wonder that Jeffrey has become a successful songwriter.
Although their music doesn't exactly sound like any other group, fans of Alabama and Sawyer Brown will probably find Boy Howdy to their liking - if they can ignore that silly name.
If your a guitar player...you'll love this album........2002-07-27
Superb album. The vocals are awesome. The musicianship is fantastic. The guitar work is crazy. I love these guys. They can play. They have their own sound (not like most that are popular today with all the same musicians on the record, just a different face on the cover / gotta love that Nashville carbon copy system:-(. Wish these guys would put out another record!

Amazing!.......2001-07-29
I don't know what the other guy is talking about. Jeffrey Steele consistantly pounds out amazing vocals. No, not all of the songs are along the same lines as 'A Cowboy's Born...' but how boring would that be?! Any good album has a vast mix showing the artists' ranges.
I've never heard a Boy Howdy song I didn't totally love.
Five Stars... TEN if I could.
WARNING: SAVE YOURSELF TEN BUCKS !.......1999-11-16
Well, somebody has got to be the first to review it, so here goes.
Of all the country albums I've heard, this is definitely the worst ever! I bought it just for "A cowboy's born with a broken heart", expecting the rest to be in the same vein (at least the titles looked promissing). I don't know how the other albums by this band sound, but this is pathetic. You can hardly call this country music by any standard. The first couple of tracks sound more like "praise songs", the harmonies are almost gospel-like. The only tracks bearable are "In another tear from now", "If her heart ain't in Memphis" and the forementioned "A cowboy's born ...". Only the latter is really good, the other two being ruined somewhere down the line. ABSOLUTE LOW HOWEVER IS THE KINKS-COVER "YOU REALLY GOT ME".
Verdict: one star for "A cowboy's born ..." and the effort. They should thank me for that one star.
