Better than the "stuck in a rut" reviewers say it is........2005-05-31
I have nine Guano Apes CD's. Certainly the "Planet Of The Apes" has the cream of the crop, which is where I would point ANY first time buyer of the apes. BUT if you already know & like the apes, BUY "Don't Give Me Names", simple as that. There are MANY tunes on it that appear on their best hits, so SOMEBODY liked them. I have an unusually wide spectrum of musical interest. I LOVE "Quality" wherever it may be found. My collection also includes, Tapping The Vein, Die Happy & Lacuna Coil. I even like The Lords Of Acid once in awhile. As of late, Whenever I feel the need for un-leashed raw female power & expression, I reach for "Planet Of The Apes", it Frosts My Cake. Expand to other Guano Apes CDs Like DONT GIVE ME NAMES, AFTER you've experienced them. Breathe in the aroma, kick the turds around awhile, get to know Land Of The Apes, FIRST. However there are GOOD tunes here not found on their best hits CD.

Don't give me names is the best Guano Apes album far. After proud like a god they have grew, and turned better. This album is a litlle less agressive than Proud like a God, but still can be agressive. The sound has improved in all its way, turned more mellodical and more complex.
The album is all great, but Rain, Big in Japan, and Living in a Lie are the best ones.
It is a great step for Guano, and they are getting far beyond. They are creating an image, and getting away with it. Buy it, if you are a fan, buy it if you are a beliver.
oh my god.......2000-08-11
I live in great britain and dont get to hear many foreign bands but in the last few years ive changed that thanks to a tv channel called viva(a geramn music channel i get on my satelight)and now i listen to quite a few foreign band although none stick out more that guano apes and liquido both of which are from germany.i purchased pround like a god the guanos first album and rocked out all the time i have had it for nearly a year and still it has its place in my cd changer at all times now when i got hold of the new album i didnt quite know what to think but after listening to it for about 5 days solid i found my self rocking out so much it was un believeable and found myself doubting which album of the 2 was the best an question i still dont have an answer for but let me say this no matter which album of theres you buy you will rock out so much it is unbelieveable. This album is definately one of the best this year and will quickly see of any competetors quickly. dont think about it just buy it and you will found out now what many people will be learning soon the guano apes rock!
The Best Rock Band in a long time.......2000-07-31
While this CD doesn't live up to their first one, it has such a carnal power in it, that you can't help but flip out in your car, your room, or wherever you're listening to it at. A few months ago I saw the Guano Apes live here in Stuttgart, Germany. They staight up rocked. I've never in my life been to a better concert. I know that I'll take every opportunity to see them again for as long as I'm over here in Europe, and hopefully, when I do return to the States, they'll be more popular over there and be playing more shows. As long as they continue to put out a product anywhere near as powerful as their first two albums, I'll be buying them as soon as they're available
It's hard to describe.......2000-06-30
when i first bought the album i wanted to do no more than listen to Big in Japan, but after listening to the album i can't seem to get enough. starting with No Speech, Guano Apes don't stop rocking. i can't really pinpoint a favorite on this album. regardless of where you're at you just want to stop and rock out while the song plays. Songs like Dodel Up, Mine All Mine, and Gogan are extremely powerful songs and the Guano Apes don't stop with just those. I look forward to seeing what they can put out on the future.

Amazement.......2001-05-04
I'm an avid fan of all types of music, but the amazing lyrics and sound of the Guano Apes astound, if not totally amaze me, some of their songs touch your heart like a light feather making you feel what sandra feels(like Anne Claire and Living in a Lie, for instance) and bringing you higher...following up songs then bring a harsh bit of reality back to you and throw you back down(such as gogan and dodel up), but not in a bad way, on top of it all their powerful song, and amazing lyrics make them one of the best bands to ever grace us with their *True* talent.
MUST HAVE CD!.......2001-04-04
This CD is the most amazing CD on the face of the earth! As well as the many wonderful styles of the Guano Apes, it features the song "Ain't Got Time" which is very upbeat and great sounding, as well as two unplugged tracks. So, this is a 5* must have!
Simply amazing.......2001-04-02
I was very impressed with "Proud Like A God" and was hoping that their follow up would be just as good and luckily it is. Mixing great drumming, amazing bass work, inspired guitars, and the female equivilant to Chino Moreno, the Guano Apes musically are truly great. The album starts with No Speech which is one of the best songs they've ever done. The album isn't as heavy as PLAG but keeps its spirt with songs like Big in Japan and Money & Milk. If you are a fan of any type of metal you have to give this album a spin.
Growning Up.......2000-08-16
I agree with everybody that this album is not a "Proud Like A God", but its not in a very good way. They like many bands before them, have matured in time. This CD proves that. Songs like "Anne Claire" and "Living In A Lie" show the matuuring process of the band. I recomend this to any one who owns "Proud Like A God" as well as those who are first time Guano listeners.
Simply Brilliant.......2000-08-05
Songs like No Speech, Innocent Greed, Mine all Mine and - last but not least - Anne Clair seem to be alive and touch your heart. Sandra, the singer, talks directly to the audience, sometimes harsh, sometimes demanding, but somehow the music is neither seducing sweet nor rude but keeps its own personality.

Awsome album.......2004-11-27
I first heard Guano Apes back in 1999. I was listening to knaclive.com's radio stream and Open Your Eyes came on and I was blown away. I went out and got the album that same day. I've been hooked ever since. As soon as I heard they had a new album out I ordered it and I still listen to it alot now. Overall it's great. I thinkit's better produced than thier first one and is just more well written. Some of the songs on the first one seemed like they were trying too hard to write big songs with lots of parts but on this album they sort of scaled that down. It's still got the variety of the first album and the only band I can think of to compare them too in that regard is Faith No More. Every song is very different but they all fit together well. The songs are the kind that stick in your head for days. Some fo the best ones are No Speech, Big In Japan, Living a Lie and my favortie is probably Money and Milk. I'd say if you like the first one you'll like this one even more and the only reason I didn't give it that 5'th star is because thier 3'rd album is actuayl alot better than this so that one gets 5 stars.
Great band, good cd..........2004-10-24
Guano Apes deserve your attention. This is a good disc, but not their best. However, you do need them all, so pick it up!
What gives ?.......2003-05-15
As much as Proud Like a God was stimulating, Don't Give Me Names is boooring. I don't know what happened, but I believe this is just a one time thing. After all, Walking on Thin Line, the fallow-up to this record, is much better. So what makes this album so boring ? Fallow me, I will tell you about it, and much more... or not...
The thing is, there's nothing of high quality. The better songs are ordinary at best. The best one is, without a doubt, Lords Of The Boards, the first song on the album. After that, well, there's nothing much to keep interest for more than a minute. Compared to the first album, this one is very slow. And turning up the volume doesn't work either, it still a pain to listen to. There's nothing obviously wrong with the songs. I guess there's just something special missing, and that's why it's not a blast to listen to.
Proud Like a God, Don't Give me Names and Walking on Thin Line. The first one is a must, the second one you must avoid, the third one is alright if you're a fan. Any question ? I didn't think so.
Not as Rocking !!!!!!.......2001-05-25
I am a big Guano Apes fan. When this CD came out I had to get it. But, I notice right away that this CD is more poppy then there first one. This CD does have some cool multimedia stuff on it though. Only real good tracks are "Big Japan" there first single, "Dodel Up", "No Speech", and "Innocent greed".

i havn't heard of their new cd yet. But I am searching really hard for it. One of their older cd's though, Proud like a god" I do have and it kicks mad chunks man. I love that band so much. If you don't know where I am coming from then you just plan old suck jack. when I am listening to her sing, I hear alot of anger, but yet she is not singing about stupid (...) like the rappers do. She makes since, man. That is what we need in the world now a days. Bands that make (...) since.
anyways Guano Apes kick (...).
The stars are yours Sandra!.......2001-08-12
I've been a Guano Apes fan since 1997, when I used to live in Europe. A couple of weeks ago, I paid about [price].-(import) for their latest album "Don't give me names", and I don't regret it! As with their first album, I got adicted after listening to it for a day. Sandra Nasic and her band members give rock a hole new meaning.
