IIIII

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Dave Phillips has been performing since 1987 and is also involved in Ohne (1997-present), Fear of God (1986-present), Sudden Infant (1990-1996) and Schlimpfluch-Gruppe (1991-present).

Album Description
IIIII continues the tradition of the unique Sclimpluch-Gruppe style found in the previous four titles; I, II, III and IIII released on various other labels. The random bursts of sounds are great but the equally random silence is the glue that brings it all together to form a brilliant listening experience. Powerfully mastered by Randy Yau. Fans of Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock will love this CD.

4 out of 5 stars Noise with cohesive but indecipherable qualities.......2006-10-24

I am not a stalwart of the noise scene that Dave Phillips is associated, but more of a sideline fan. In many cases, on this album, the philosophy/compositional concepts and theories shine brighter than the material itself, but the soundscape contained herein still offers something completely unique even to the purveyor of many other noise artists outside this swiss scene which seems mostly to be emulators of the Viennese Aktionists (or a continuation?). Note to the novice: the volume and suddenness of many parts of this disc may be extreme for those not familiar with Phillips, Schimpfluche-Gruppe, Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, etc., so take care on your first listen. Don't be intimidated, though, as it is still a very rewarding and potentially enjoyable listen (I like it quite a bit)!
