Going Nowhere
Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Going Nowhere was conceived by Dan, Rob, and Mark at the University of Miami back in March of 1997. They believed that Miami needed some fun-inspired music to liven up the local music scene which was becoming way too serious and boring. So, with Dan on the guitar, Rob on the bass and Mark on drums, they found a garage and started to write songs. They found a style of writing that included all their favorite genres of music: punk, ska, surf, and rockabilly. And, after about a month, they started playing out in Miami. Going Nowhere's fun-driven style of music and performance has had them playing out a lot in the South Florida area. They have played with several well-known national acts: The Hippos, The Aquabats, Mustard Plug and Digger, as well as some great South Florida bands, including Pivot, Brethren, Milkshed, A New Found Glory, Caught Inside, The Agency, Foolproof, and more. With the addition of Bryan on the guitar in December 1997, the band began to fine-tune their songwriting and their performance straight through 1998, playing many more shows and getting airplay on UM's own 90.5 FM WVUM and the local show on 94.9 FM WZTA. By spring of 1999 they had been chosen to play the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and had been recognized as finalists in the Conan O'Brien College Band Search.
In fall 1999 the band finished recording their self-produced, self-released, self-titled album GOING NOWHERE, which was released in February 2000. Going Nowhere's plans for the future can be summed up in one simple phrase: To have a good time ...all the time.

the best in west coast political punk.......2001-07-26
while not overly political, the band satanic surfers is some of the best west coast hard core punk i have heard. once i started listening to this album i couldnt stop, i listened to it every day for 2 months. tracks that especially got a message across were "institutionalizing murder" and the second track, about the lack of choice in people to elect for running your lives and telling you how to live. i would suggest this album to anyone who is a fan of fast music, and everyone who is a fan of melodic music. -Monk
Your basic SS cd.......2001-04-25
It's good, because it's coming from the Satanic Surfers. If you're looking for good, fast, melodic punk rock from Sweden and are sick of Millencolin, check out these guys. Don't let the name scare you away, because they're not satanic or anything. They got the name from their two main inspirations, the Misfits (Glenn Danzig, dur) and the Hard-Ons (Who they were called the 90's version of). Anyways, back to the cd. It's good, but if you're going to get their cd and you're new to them, get "Hero Of Our Time" or "666 Motor Inn". All in all, it's a good cd for all the skate punks out there looking for something new.
its okay...........2001-04-17
Ive only had the cd for a day and listend to everyone song once maybe twice for some. a couple good songs. most are nothing special. but it'll probably grow on me the more i listen to it like most do
Going nowhere fast.......2000-10-07
When I got this cd I couldnt take it out of my cd for a long time it quickly because one of my faverite cd of all time. I am a real satanic surfers fan I can wait tell they come to my city for a show. This cd is fast and very well writen I would have to say that it is one of the best punk cd I ever owned.
The Surfers Don't Dissapoint.......2000-02-17
Once I popped in the new Surfers album I was completely blown away. Going Nowhere Fast is a fast paced cd, most comparable to their Hero of Our Time release (one of my favourite punk cd's of all time). If you like fast paced punk rawk with catchy balads, the Surfers are the band for you. I think this is their best cd yet, and the fact that the drummer is the lead singer blows my mind to this day. No joke, get this cd!

This band is such a breath of fresh air! Talent abounds. They'll creep on you. About the 3rd or 4th song is when it hits you and you "get them". Great work guys!

Customer Reviews:
The Music hall version.......2001-11-27
This sounds like a revue rather than a coherent musical comedy. One can't help but feel that the forces involved with this project didn't take it too seriously since Rochester doesn't even appear on the recording (he had a prior engagement!) and the liner notes are given over mainly to explaining why the work never appeared on the West End.
Even considering the age of the recording, the singers sound weak and/or wobbly. Buy this as an historical curiosity, but don't expect an uplifting, polished, professional experience. For that, you need the Gordon/Caird Broadway version.
Beautiful music.......2001-10-11
This musical has beautiful music mixed with sad tones and lovely harmony. The singers portray their characters flawlessly with the emotion they sing in their songs, from sadness to happiness. I believe this musical is a joy to listen to and will fill a place in any musical theater's person's heart.
Don't Waste Your Money.......2001-09-05
The reason why I purchased this item is because I wanted to compare it to the Paul Gordan musical. I was sadly disappointed with this 60's version that tried to make Jane Eyre a comedy rather than a dark and gothic musical that the novel portrays. I tried to listen to a full song, but couldn't stand it and turned it off. From what I have just listened to, the show doesn't equal the newest Jane Eyre musical at all.
