Songs for Gray Areas

Editorial Reviews
Snap Pop! volume 1, issue 10/Big Bang Publishing, Sterling VA
[..] With two electric guitars, bass, and drums, and relatively uncluttered by special effects, the band has concocted a complicated interplay of textures and finely gradated moods. Gray may not be cheerful or perky, but it can instead range from nostalgic to threatening to tender, or swirl around in a strange, poetic mixture of emotions more difficult to identify. [..]

About the Artist
Zoothead formed when brothers Jared and Evan Featherstone, who had been writing songs together since they were 14 and 13, asked neighbor Blake Wheeler to buy a bass and play with them. Drummer Mike Tinney was found at the University of Maryland, coming in from Long Island. A few demos led to a few small club gigs in College Park, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Soon they were asked to be on a location compilation, which led to more gigs and more exposure. A regular gig in College Park increased... read more

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars JJ is the best`.......2001-02-25

I think that this album was wonderful. Only because of Jared. He is the best. His lyric soothe my soul and cleanse my mind. I am in love.

5 out of 5 stars Rock and Roll According to Zoothead.......2000-07-07

Zoothead can be summed up with two words-rock and ambiance. Often the two go hand in hand on tracks like "All Grown Over" where the slow but steady build-up climax in a full-on sonic assault that will leave your head spinning. "3AM" show that 52 seconds is all the time you need to get a point across. Lengthier tracks like "Seasick" and "4th Of July" may plod on a bit too long, but that doesn't mean you're losing interest. You just can't wait to get to the next track.
