Poison Kitchen is the second release from Denver's Worm Trouble, a band that's competent enough to conduct stylistic experiments and infuse them with a somewhat sardonic sense of humor. "Vinyl", for example, sounds a little bit like Devo fronting as a bluesy bar band; "Thunder Rises" calls to mind Throwing Muses attempting to make carnival music; and "Riots" includes everything from fat, Sabbathy guitars to guitarist/vocalist Michael Trenhaile performing a funny yet urgent narrative that would make David Byrne proud ("Carbon dioxide, rarely seen, is now a fact," he warns). Bassist/vocalist Kathryn Ellinger isn't satisfied to simply sing with a pretty girl's voice, though she's got one, and thank God - her delivery is commanding and confident on "Gather the Rain" and "Amsterdam". Ultimately, Worm Trouble actually has a sound of its own; the good news is it's a solid one.

(Excerpt from live performance review) Worm Trouble is a different band with a different style for those used to pop, rock, and alternative based more on volume than artistry. This trio has something many emerging bands strive for, a style that radiates.

As sensual as the movie...........2002-05-29
Strangely after seeing the movie I realized I hadn't really noticed the music, a very unusual occurrence. Upon listening to the CD and re-watching the film, I realized they were so closely joined the music had become almost subliminal.
The sensuality and beauty of the film overwhelmed my senses and the music just seemed so well-suited that it all blended. The CD made me aware that the smooth sensuous sounds had just washed over me while I was entranced in the film. They still do everytime I listen. The music even without the film works beautifully.
Give a listen yourself and feel the seduction.
