eclipse
Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Moonshine, whose name means to be a reflection of the Son to a dark world and is derived from 2 Corinthians 3:18, formed in August of 1998. The members include Dave Eropkin on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Robert Hanson on lead guitar, Chris Watson on drums and vocals, and Tony Crowell on bass. In the early part of 1999, Moonshine recorded their debut CD, eclipse. Conceptually, the project focuses on the selfishness and pride found in today's society, and how these attitudes are eclipsing the heart of the Son. Songs like Love Blues and Me ask if our love is for "selfish ambition" and whether we give anything but "habitual sin." Least of These suggests that often, we cannot even get past our own agendas to minister to the souls Jesus has died for and placed in our path. Reflectively, Looking for the Living asks "why do you look for life among death?" and Mute is a searing attack on abortion told from the perspective of the fetus. "Who are you to cast my fate?" the unborn cries, "Inconvenience, that's my name."
Musically, the album tries to break down the barriers between Christian music and secular rock. Drawing on influences from 70's, 80's and 90's rock, the CD is an eclectic blend of music targeted at lost teenagers engulfed in the current secular music scene leading them to the Kingdom of Heaven by having Jesus meet them where they are.
Through the medium of music, the purpose of Moonshine is to sow God's Word into the lives and hearts of as many young people as they can so that they may have eternal life. Moonshine's style of music is consistent with their belief that God meant for all to have abundant life, and their efforts are focused on showing teenagers how much fun it is to have Christ as their Savior. They seek to provide an alternative to secular rock by keeping the same musical elements of that genre, but substituting Christian themes and scripture for worldly lyrics.
Moonshine is committed to the work God has prepared for them, and do not play for their own glory, but to minister, and to reflect the magnificent glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. God has filled each member of the band with such an overwhelming love for lost kids, and they acknowledge His glory with uncovered faces as they bring those kids out of secular music and before the throne of Christ Jesus.
Moonshine is in the studio once again recording Sunset Velocity, due out by March 2000. The irony of the title is that the sun has no velocity because it does not move; it only appears to move because of the world we are standing in. The analogy is that the Son does not move either, rather, we are the ones who move away from the Son. The CD revolves around the thought that God is eternal, and as we approach the changes a new millennium will bring, it is the constant promise of Christ's love that will effect real change in those living in the 21st century. Sunset Velocity includes songs harder and more intense than eclipse, and yet songs that are softer and more acoustic. Son of Man is a driving perspective of a hell-bound Pilate and Dilemma asks if you "realize nothing you do will ever save your soul." Fragrance softly proclaims "we are the fragrance of Jesus Christ" and Horizon gives the hope of a "prodigal return from a distant sojourn." Y2KJ declares that the year 2000 is the "Year To Know Jesus."
Reflect the Son!

Don Ho was always a true Hawaiian entertainer and this CD will keep his music alive.
Awesome .......2007-01-18
I enjoy the music of Don Ho and the product I received from Amazon is in excellent shape. To be able to shop on Amazon for music and other items I would not be able to get here makes it all worthwhile!
Very satisfied and loyal customer,

I don't know about this one...
I listened to the samples, and even though I like Don Ho from what I've heard - I didn't like this. (Don Ho samples) It's an o.k CD, but I don't particularly like it.

Underappreciated and overlooked rock album.......2007-03-08
THE BAND: Johnny Gioeli (vocals, guitar), Neal Schon (lead & rhythm guitars), Joey Gioeli (rhythm guitar), Todd Jensen (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums & percussion).
THE DISC: (1992) 12 tracks clocking in at approximately 52 minutes. Included with the disc is a 6-page foldout containing band photos, song titles/credits (no lyrics), and thank you's. Label - MCA Records.
COMMENTS: I lost this disc back in the mid 90's and came across it again in 2006 and had to order it here on Amazon. Hardline's "Double Eclipse" is truly a lost gem for anyone growing up in the 80's listening to hard/hair/glam rock. Overlooked and underappreciated - the band put together a smoking rock album that simply went nowhere (or at least not as far as it should have gone). Hardline consisted of the relatively unknown Gioeli brothers, legendary guitarist Neal Schon (from Santana, Journey), Jensen on bass (from David Lee Roth days and Alice Cooper), and drummer Castronovo (Bad English, and newer Journey albums among other smaller bands). Hardline's sound was reminiscent of the late 80's hair bands (perhaps just missing the hair/glam wave that was so big) falling right along side other bands (Firehouse, Slaughter, Winger, House Of Lords, Warrant, Skid Row, White Lion, Kix, Lynch Mob, etc) that were big just a few years prior to this '92 release. Why did this album get overlooked? A few reasons in my opinion... the rock/hair/glam music was fading in the early 90's and grunge was becoming the "in" thing to listen to. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, all released huge albums in 1991-92. Not to mention Rage Against The Machine's award winning debut... as well as heavy metal surging back into the spotlight with Metallica ("Black" album) and Megadeth ("Countdown To Extinction") leading the way during the same time frame. As for the songs on "Double Eclipse" - standard hard rock formula with a few power ballads kicked in for good measure. Two solid mid tempo rockers start it off with "Life's A Bitch" and "Dr. Love". The first ballad is track 4 ("Change Of Heart") and Schon's guitar is the highlight here. The 2nd best slow tune is "Can't Find My Way". The two best harder/faster songs are "Rhythm In a Red Car" and "Bad Taste". The last two tracks are diamonds in the rough, and perhaps my favorite tracks on the album. "31-91" is a minute-and-a-half acoustic (only) piece... which leads right into the album closer "In The Hands Of Time"... another ballad featuring some sparkling acoustic/Spanish/cut-gut guitar. Schon proves his guitar chops on "Double Eclipse" are right on par with anything he's done with Carlos Santana, Journey or Sammy Hagar (another underrated album - HSAS: "Through The Fire"). Some incredible playing here, rocking melodies, meaningful lyrics... a long lost treasure (4.5 stars).
what Schonn is all about.........and a little extra to boot.........2007-02-23
people, what a killer release this is. i bought it in '92 when it was released, not knowing what to expect, as i had never heard a single cut from it. i knew Schonn was the axeman on this baby, and that was all i needed to know. i popped this cd in the player, and was instantly floored. what great melodic, poweful tunes filled my ears. i'm not much of a ballad fan, but even those are great. Dean Castronova on drums was the perfect choice for this type of release, as he adds the power to Schonn's precision. this is how Neal would have played with journey, had the suits let him do so. the Gioeli brothers, unknown to me at the time, do a masterful job as well. it's such a shame that great bands make an album or two, and just fade away, ie. Lynch Mob, Badlands and these guys, to name a few. this release is far superior to their second offering, but that one is pretty tasty as well. i suggest paying the coin for this cd, as it's worth every penny. Hardline 2 will run you about twice as much, but imports often do. get 'em both if ya' can, but this one is the best of the 2. peace.
Doble Eclipse ROXX!!Hardline Forever..........2006-10-05
Hello and Good Day! This certainly is NOT your typical rock and roll cd. John Gioeli vocals are raw real and very emotional! Joey guitar shreds! The music is groovin' bluesy and very catchy. All tracks starting from Life's a Bitch is full of serious rythnm and Dr.Love! well, John the vocalist has a great pair of lungs. All tracks are super rockn' and the ballads are sensational. Taken' Me Down is remarkable. I can't say more to establish how much talent and serious rythmn and GREAT musicianship this cd dispays~ all tracks have Very Very catchy tunes!~ BUY it, and do yourself a huge favor......NOTHING like it EVER!! Hardline Roxx!! Miss Kelly
Good straightforward rock and roll.........2006-09-21
OK, the other reviews will make it seem like I'm knocking this album, but I'm not. This is a very solid album with some good songs, but it isn't the greatest thing ever recorded. I picked this up because of the reviews I had read, the only song I knew previously was Hot Cherie and I liked it so I got the CD.
This is very straight ahead AOR rock in the same vein as Bon Jovi. Every song is very listenable, but only a couple really jump out at you. Hot Cherie is the single most people know and is probably the highlight; Everything, Rythm From A Red Car and Can't Find My Way are also solid. The rest of the album is OK, but again-nothing too exciting.
One thing that does stand out throughout the album is Neal Schon, I have always preferred him outside of Journey. Journey turned into the "Steve Perry Project" and Schon's playing always seemed to be secondary. On this Schon's guitar is right upfront and he comes through with some great riffs and his soloing is fantastic as always.
Overall this album is solid AOR rock that is better than most, just not the best ever.
Ach, Great.......2006-03-30
I listen to this cd alot when I am in the car.. I usually mix Hardline with Danger Danger, Autograph, and Quiet Riot.. Hot Cherie is a great song.. about at the 2:00 mark, Neal Schon comes in with a huge riff. It really can't be anyone else (Neal Schon, produced these guys, and had so much fun that he joined the band)so who can it be? It's Neal Schon. I can tell the difference between guitarists.. They always have a certain speed, and riff usage.. but whatever.
These guys came in around the same time hair metal band Firehouse did.... Who cares if it was released in the 90's. The 90's were quite a time period, and it was quite a fine release. I'm telling you, this is a great cd, look at all the other reviews. everyone loves it. Just like everyone loves Kiss.... or Journey.. or Boston.

A Good Intro to Mana.......2005-07-12
This covers much of the same ground as Mana's greatest album, 'Unplugged ', but adds a few more gems that make it a good introduction to the band and a valuable part of any Mana collection. Highlights you won't find on "Unplugged" include Fehr's piercingly sweet vocal on "Te LLore un Rio," his nod toward Bob Marley on the sexy "Te Deseo," and the classic "Te Llevare al Cielo." More great pop composing, performance, alma, corazon and clean lines of beautiful Spanish on this disc than on a dozen ordinary greatest hits records.
One Song Rating.......2004-10-15
This rating is for Te Llevare Al Cielo only. Like one of the other Raters said I would of myself for Mana to come out with another studio cd. I think its time. But Instead they came out with 3 greatst his cds with the brand new song Te Llevare Al Cielo and I would like to get one of these greatest hits for that song because I love it. I have spanish music video and I have seen the video and I heard it like once on the radio where I live in Flordia. we have 2 spanish radio stations on FM radio down here. I choose to get Eclipse and I want this cd just for that song because I own 2 cds all ready and I want to get all the rest. On to the rating.
The Rating:
I think Te Llevare is the best songs that Mana has done so far untill i bye all the other cds I am missing. I love the kick of the electric guitars. {Oh I love Electric Guitar}. After I learn to play my acoustic I am getting one of them nice litte Electric guitars. But anyway on Te Llevare al Cielo the group plays and sings in well tune. Its a great song. Thanks.
Signing off
Gabe.
An Eclipse Of Hits.......2004-02-24
Even though I would have rather Maná to come back with another studio album, they came up with three albums including their greatest hits. "Sol" includes the band's "dancing" hits, "Luna" includes the band's more romantic hits, and "Eclipse" includes a combination of both types. This CD includes 13 of the band's past hits and 1 new single "Te Llevare Al Cielo". It also includes the video for "Eres Mi Religion", which was the second single of their album "Revolucion De Amor". One thing that I liked about the booklet in this album is that it gives a backround on some of the songs. This album would have been better if they would have added at least one more song.
All in all, this is a very good albums for Maná fans or people who don't have their past albums. I recommend this album.
This Review is For One Song.......2004-02-10
I am wrighting this review for Te Llevare Al Cielo ( I'll Take You To Heaven }. That Song is very nice. I have heard it on the raido and I have heard it and seen the video on my cable box. You have to pay but thats fine. Its cool that I get to watch videos like Te Levare Al Cielo. I have been A Mana fan since Christmas of 2002 not since the begining. And I do not speak alot of spanish but I do understand it. This song is one of their best songs that they have done. I want to get one of these greatest hits just for this song because its a new song that that have done and I want to get all the other cds That they have. I have Revolucion De Amor and Suenos Liqudos. I will have repeat songs but I think its more then worth it to get one of these greatest hits for Te Llevare Al Cielo even if I will have the same songs twice. I am going to get one that have the song as the first one. Thanks. Peace.
Save your money.......2004-01-16
These collections of CDs are a piece of crap. Why make 3 cds of the greatests hits if they don't even have that many studio albums? The simple answer is money. They've lost the talent to make another studio album so they just live off their past glory. They put a nice cover a recycled songs and "enhance" the cd. So stupid unknowing fans will go out and buy it. If you already have their past albums no need to buy this garbage. If you have bought it you're out of luck. A blank CD is worth more than this crap.

Ahhh...the memories........2007-05-10
God, how I used to LOVE this song back in the day. Even now, I can still hear it in my head, and after I saw that GPS commercial, with an audio clip digitally remastered, I just fell in love with it all over again, even though it was only 2-3 seconds. Still, it only took that long to remember the timesI would listen to that faithfully. I've yet to own it on audio CD/DVD, but soon plan to now. This looks like something that would come from Heaven itself, to be completely digitllly restored and remastered!!! What a dream come true! Well, I'm sold, how 'bout you?

A wonderful encore to the movie soundtrack!.......2003-07-20
After I listened to the CD 'Music from the motion picture The Pianist', which had one piece played by Wladyslaw Szpilman, it was only natural to want to hear more recordings of this great musician and person. This CD has 13 music pieces by Szpilman, and they are wonderful. The movie used mainly Chopin's music, but Szpilman's repertoire- which he preserved through mental piano practice during the war- is quite varied. The CD has him playing Rachmaninov, Schumann, Debussy, Albeniz, Gruenfeld, J.S.Bach, Kreisler, and of course Chopin (Nocturne in C sharp minor appears twice- recorded in 1980 and 1948 respectively).
The highlight of the CD is Szpilman's own composition- Concertino for Piano and Orchestra which he mentions in his book, and which he wrote in 1940- just when the difficult times began.
Szpilman's piano style is different from that of Janusz Olejniczac, whose performances are on the other CD. They both are wonderful in their own way, but it was exciting for me to listen to the real life Pianist. I will look for more works by Wladyslaw Szpilman, including his songs.
The Pianist Original Recordings.......2003-03-26
THe Pianist won 3 Oscars on Sunday
This classical recording inspired Roman Polanski to direct this great movie about a pianist, Szpilman who survived the war.
Everyone should have this cd in their collection.
Impressive CD by the Pianist.......2003-01-06
Could not wait to get my hands on this one. Sorry, but did have to buy it elsewhere. Could not wait. After seing the movie I wanted to know more about this man and what he played. It includes his version of Chopin's Nocturne as performed on the end credits. Great !
Only sorry that I did not get such a good deal as from Amazon. This is a keeper !
The original recordings by THE PIANIST W. Szpilman.......2003-01-06
I saw Polanski's "THE PIANIST" last weekend and was very impressed and wanted to learn more about the real hero of the movie. I searched online for his recordings. After two days I received two CD's from Amazon.com related to Wladyslaw Szpilman: One with his beautiful songs by Wendy Lands and another one with his Original recordings. He plays wonderful Chopin ( i.e. the Nocturne from the final scene of the movie ), Rachmaninoff, Bach and his own music - Concertino for Piano and Orchestra composed in the Warsaw Ghetto in a time of deepest repressions by the Germans. He was a great pianist but I was surprised how optimistic is his music and indeed how American it is. After I learned his story through the movie, now I also got in touch with this man personally, trough his artistry. Great feeling!!

The Definitive Black Metal Album.......2006-07-22
I did not like the album on first listen--the production quality sounded poor. (This was actually good production quality for the genre at the time.) It is now my favorite album, and I would not change the sound one bit. This sounds like ancient evil. I love the mood of it. So dark and full of despair. A sick feeling that they lost on future albums.
A landmark in black metal.......2006-05-08
This is probably one of black metal's finest bands. This album also stands as one of the best black metal albums ever made, from the haunting keyboard melodies to the incredible cover art, everything about this album is superb.

Very Disappointed.......2006-06-26
The renditions of these great songs are an embarassment. If you are looking for rousing versions of patriotic music forget it on this CD. Also not the same title list on the CD as on the item description on Amazon.
Kind of disappointed! .......2005-03-22
Was'nt exactly what I expected. There must be two versions to this CD. The tracts are not the same as the CD listed on Amazon.
There are 16 like the other one, but a lot of the songs are different. All are vocal. I would'nt buy this CD unless you can get it really cheap and you are willing to get a CD that is different from the one listed. Has good sound but is not my style.
Looking at the release date makes one cringe, but good album.......2004-05-16
Trust the distributor to release this compilation on 9/11 of all days!! However it is still a good collection of America's best patriotic music. Favourites include 'Yankee Doodle' and the national anthem 'Star Spangled Banner'. A fine album for proud Americans

Warning! Rip-Opp Zone.......2007-05-22
Dissapointed? I sure am. I wish I could have listened to samples of these tracks before I wasted the money. Not one is original. "New Stereo Re-recordings by the Original Artists." What's that supposed to mean? Sounds like the old early 70's with the performing group named "Original Artists". RIP-OFF! Save your money.
Caveat Emptor -- Not Original Recordings.......2006-05-03
Yes, it's cheap. But that's because the majority of the tracks are new recordings. They assure this it is by the "original artists", but goodness knows how many lineup changes have occured since the original recordings from decades past. According to the track listing, the only original recordings are "Surfin' Bird", Here Comes The Judge", "Splish Splash" (but by Sha Na Na--feh!), "Mule Skinner Blues", "Alley Oop", "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", "Short Shorts", "The Curly Shuffle", and "Beep Beep". The rest are new. They sound approximately like the originals, but I am not interested in "approximately".
If I'd known all this, I wouldn't have bought it.

Great memories.......2007-02-28
My mom had this LP and played the heck out of when I was growing up. It's great to hear this old record on CD. Eydie Gorme's voice is very romantic, and Los Panchos playing and vocals are wonderful. Love it. Exactly as I remembered.

Customer Reviews:
listen to the biggest luca fan ever.......2007-02-26
this is the greatest album i have ever heard and since its release i have not found a more timeless album other than rust in peace. you will be inspired and might even shed a tear. I cannot recommend this higher than if the cd was written by god himself.
Novel and very impressive.......2006-04-24
You will either love or hate this stuff. Pompous, grandiose, glorious, over-the-top and brilliant. Huge chorus, full orchestra, masterful violin playing, and breakneck metal guitar work, all swirled together quite stunningly.
Metallica tried to do this with their S&M album. Some of that album worked great, but most of it felt like a "mashup" rather than a cohesive piece of music. THIS is what they were aiming for.
Imagine if Danny Elfman, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Metallica co-wrote a space opera. Yeah. Freakin' awesome. For anyone who loves musicals and metal, this will wonderfully fill both those desires simultaneously.
I'm really impressed. My daughter's favorite albums are System of a Down's "Mesmerize" and the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. She loves Prophet of the Last Eclipse. 'nuff said.
A defining masterpiece in symphonic metal.......2004-07-06
For those familiar with Luca Turilli's work, you know that he likes his music big, huge, bombastic, and sweeping in composition - which is both a turn off for some metal fans and the reason a good deal of his audience is rabid about his work. Love or hate his material, one would have a hard time denying the strength of his melodic sense and compositions, along with the fact that throughout his career he has kept upping the ante, making the music bigger and bigger and bigger.......
And then, there was Prophet of the Last Eclipse.
On this, Luca's second solo album, the sound has gone so through the roof it can barely even be seen anymore. This is big, this is powerful, this is in your face, but this is also stretching a few boundaries of what can even be called metal...rather, the music on Prophet of the Last Eclipse sounds like a hyperactive symphony from outer space, with a metal band guesting to back it up. There are almost 30 choir members on the album, in 4 seperate choirs, along with the String Quintet of Hamburg, Germany, plus a timpani player. Add to this Luca's normal guitar/bass/drums/keyboards/vocals band and his brand of epic composing, and you have one of the biggest and most pompous albums to come out since.. well, the last Rhapsody release actually. But this may be even more giant sounding, and the best thing about it is; it's of the same quality.
Prophet of the Last Eclipse is a conceptual work, telling an odd story revolving around love and apocalyptic prophecy on a distant planet. While not on the same level as a successful author's material, Luca manages to craft a short and interesting, as well as even a bit original (for science fiction), tale.
The album is also a nice evolution in Luca Turilli's sound in ways; first, as aforementioned, the album sounds like a symphony with a metal band as opposed to a metal band with a symphony. In the booklet, it's learned that Luca restrained himself guitarwise on this album in order to let the compositions and the classical instrumation come through a lot more. For this, he gains extra respect from me and what's good is that contrary to what most people would fear, the music is actually enhanced by a little less guitar. There are never any guitar parts battling with string parts for volume or attention, or any loose ends on the album, every part of the huge arrangements is placed within the songs tastefully and professionally. Although, once in a while the rhythm guitar work can get a bit lost in the large mix, but it doesn't detract a great amount - that's how big the orchestration is here. Second, there is now a good amount of a surprising element added to this music - an electronic influence ranging from techno-esque to dark and ambient....something of a crash course in awkwardness or metal suicide in print, yet on this album the new electronic elements are placed absolutely without flaw, meshing perfectly with the choirs, strings, and metal guitars and drums. This becomes apparent as soon as Aenigma, the album intro, hits with a dark sounding programmed beat that soon melts into one with the sounds and rhythms of the European Renaissance-era styled choir. After 2 minutes, the intro explodes into War of the Universe, an excellent speedy song with great vocals from Olaf Hayer and a shredding, aggressive violin/cello riff. Yes, that's 'violin/cello riff', and it shreds well right along with the thunderous drumwork and subtle little synth bleeps and bloops underneath the verses. Nice melodic guitar solo from Luca here as well. Next is Rider of the Astral Fire, where the creativity of the sound and Turilli's sense of melody really start to create some huge sparks. Excellent programming, rhythm guitar riffs, and even a good use of a children's choir can be found here. The first minute of the song is also sheer melodic brilliance, with a slow, pulsing, and dark intro building up to a galloping and positively glorious sounding viola/violin harmony with a heavy riff underpinning, taking a breather with some light keys before going into the first verse. Fantastic. Zaephyr Skies' Theme is a slower, ballad like instrumental with a gentle electronic pulse and some beautiful female vocalizations. Another major high point is the album's single, Demonheart, with some menacing programming, slashing guitar work, and an unbelievable chorus punctuated by a powerfully contrasting choir. New Century's Tarentella is another good showcase of the album's creativity, being a power-metalized rendition of classical Italian tarentella style music, though lacking a bit in the overall songwriting department. The album closer, the epic title track, is nothing short of stunning in parts and though with some weak links in the middle section, is a fitting climax for the album. Starting with the same Renaissance-styled choir heard singing in Aenigma, the song soon morphs into a ball of pure intensity, fading into a fanatical keyboard part and bursting into a crushingly heavy double bass drum attack, layered with orchestral strikes and a Latin-chanting male choir that brings almost frightening shivers. The verses also work well, after the song slows to mid pace, the female vocal in the middle part after the almost gothic keyboards is perfect, and the song closes with the same intense opening which slows down to a final, peaceful sounding Latin verse by the choir.
Overall this is one of the best, truly symphonic metal releases around. There is a track or two hindered by weaker songwriting, such as Timeless Oceans which has a few awkward melodies, and the album can also tend to give off a feeling of wanting more, but this is an album more than worthy of attention if you're not put off by the amount of symphonic elements involved. Superb.
gorgeous -- Turilli never disappoints.......2004-02-26
Science fiction is a bastardized, inferior sub-genre of fantasy, which is a much broader and deeper category. Pure science fiction is pure garbage. The best works in science fiction -- Dune or Clifford Simak in novels, Star Wars in movies, etc. -- are just fantasy dressed up as sci-fi. The reigning master of symphonic fantasy metal is pretty much taking that tactic here, as he turns his considerable talents to a futuristic, occasionally electronic album that still retains the epic, choral, heavy, fast, technically perfect, wonderfully produced and indescribably brillant Rhapsody sound that has captivated the world of metal. At times this album has a heavenly beauty unmatched even by Turilli's past efforts, at other times it is as heavy and aggressive as the superhuman Dawn of Victory album. You should get this one even if you don't like Rhapsody. If you do, you should have gotten it a long time ago.
Fantasy VS. Science Fiction.......2003-12-04
Rhpasody's guitarrist tried to be more creative this time and he really had it on. His first album was just the same as Rhapsody but with poorer vocals. In this second album he mixes science fiction with fantasy. The songs that most stand out are Demonheart, War of the Universe, Rider of the Astral Fire and Prophet of the last eclipse.
If you like symphonic power metal try this Cosmic Metal as defined by Luca Turilli and you'll surely love it.
