this is just a sample complation cd but its not bad its way better tthen the last uneasy listin cd it has alot more unrealesd stuff to if you are a him fan by it but if not then download it or something

Some people think it's a cop-out to release CDs of remixed songs, but I think it's legit as long as it sounds good and gives a different flavor than the original, and this CD delivers. A lot of these mixes would not really work in a live performance setting, and that's probably why they were not released initially. Anyway, it's sweet relief for the ears to have new HIM sounds to listen to!

Love Metal At Its Best.......2007-05-24

I ordered this cd early from Finland on the original release date in april and i can't stop listening to it. The 616 versions of "Buried Alive By Love" and "Endless Dark" are amazing, my favorites by far; the live material is great, "Hand of Doom" and "Sailin' On" are the best live covers i've heard. A Must Have. BUY THIS CD NOW! Can't wait for Venus Doom in July, its going to be the best ever!

I have been a HIM fan for the better part of the past 4 years, and was fortunate enough to see this band from Finland live in South Carolina at the Myrtle Beach House Of Blues. This Cd is a very nice addition to any true HIM fan's collection. Some of the tracks are already on the singles box set, but there are some new versions of some that really are awesome, including "the Path", one of my personal favorites of all their songs. For the definitive and passionate "True" HIM fan, you wont be dissapointed.

Well for starters I'm a Very big HIM fan, but not just of HIM, but of Gothic rock and Finish music. So I guess it's hard to say, but this was a let down. Not because of quality of tracks...but the selection used. Most of these can be found on the Singles collection box set. Which includes the vast majority of these and MANY other great tracks. So if you can drop the extra $$$, go for the box set. The Rock version of Beautiful is worth the price alone.

the Uneasy Listening sessions are beyond superb! each song is strong and touching to the heart. the sleeve notes are filled with moving linear notes that leave you with a variety of emotions. this album is recommended for all the chumbawamba fans, as well as the fans of great music.

This excellent Chumbawumba experience contains a variety of songs, old and new. some of them are found on other albums, but there are so many that a little redundancy doesn't really matter. Look for classy songs like Mouth Full Of Sh*t, and Time Bomb, and moving pieces like "Hanging on the Old Barbed wire".

I just purchased this set, and it was worth EVERY penny I paid for it. This is a wonderful look at our nations history. This was released originally on LP for American's bicentennial in 1975. Parts of this set actually brought me to tears. Absolutely beautiful!

This cd is alright. If you expect something in the vein of Glen Danzig's Black Aria, don't get this. It is a good try, just it missed the mark.

'Uneasy Listening' is one of the best instrumental works that I have heard. Eerie and Mike have put together some pretty scary stuff. This music really rivals Glenn's 'Black Aria' in mood and in quality. The style is different and unique. Don't be afraid to buy it. But please be afraid to listen. The first time you listen to it, you will be glancing around to make sure you are not being stalked by some visitor of the night. And one warning: don't listen to this alone. You just might be scared to death.

The product shipped and was delivered in record time, but I'm not really thrilled with the CD itself. Some of the songs are great, but others leave a lot to be desired. When Ville sings to an acoustic guitar, he sounds as though he's really straining to hit some of those notes. I'm not sorry that I ordered it, I've just added it to my collection.

LYRICS...LYRICS...LYRICS!! Rock stars of the future take note! You can write all the head banging fender laden tunes you want, but eventually you will be asked to sit on a stool and strum out an acoustic version of your top 10 hit, and guess what...if the lyrics ain't there you look as foolish as Britney (even with underwear) at OZZFEST. To its credit Uneasy Listening VOL. 1 would stand on its own merits even if the listener was never exposed to any of HIM's other releases. Goth, Metal, Love Metal, call them what you want but HIM is first and foremost a ROCK band and the great thing about their music is that the rock sound is combined with lyrics that aren't of a typical rock sensibility. They sing about more then sex drugs and rock-n-roll. OH! that's in there, but they also make statements about love, death and all that's in-between. That's what sets HIM apart and also what makes this CD so worth listening to. The lyrics, and the chameleon like vocals of lead singer Ville Valo, take on a much deeper and other-worldly meaning when stripped down. And I do mean "stripped down". I dare anyone to pop this CD in on a quiet night with a loved one and not be "Belly-bouncing" by track 4. The passion of the lyrics and Ville's voice takes the material and the listener to a higher level. Favorite tracks and lyrics on the CD are: The Sacrament ("My church is not of silver and gold it's glory lies beyond judgment of souls the commandments are of consolation and warmth"), Join me ("So before life tears us apart let death bless me with you"), Close to the flame (The smile kindest in this world so cold"), Buried alive by love ("The kiss of vanity blessed me with spiritual murder"), Gone with the sin (I love every single tear you cry"), Please don't let it go ("Loves singing our song but we fail to sing along").

A Great Introduction To The Band.......2006-11-18

I've been hearing about H.I.M. for quite a while now from friends, the buzz from internet radio stations, and from those helpful Amazon.com recommendation that continully tell me what they think I might like. Always willing to try new music, I picked up this album and gave it a listen. I am very pleased that I did.

Since this is a compilation of remixes with some live performances, this cd gives a nice, if incomplete overview of the band's catalog of work. I found most of the cuts very appealing, though in some cases down right mellow. Most of the tracks are excellent; a few that stand out for me are THE SACRAMENT, CLOSE TO THE FLAME, IN JOY AND SORROW (string version), and FOR YOU.

So, is this Goth? Emo? Metal? I don't know what label best describes H.I.M. Various songs remind me of Nine Inch Nails, Chris Issac, The Cure, Nick Cave....kind of all of the above. In any case, it's well worth a listen if you aren't familiar with this band, and I imagine that long time fans will love this work as well.

P.S. I love the Art Nouveau artwork on the jacket! A very nice touch.

disappointment.......2006-11-17

3 stars coz it's not bad but it's not good too. Songs aren't "Uneasy Listening" as the cd is titled, don't expect wild drums or razorblade guitar sounds, in fact they are very easy to listen to and could make you feel sleepy somehow. I preordered this item so I couldn't see the songlist, most of the songs from this cd, you can hear them from "Single Collection" so if you already own Single Collection, think twice before you make a decision to buy this. I also have a problem listening to the last track "lose you tonight", the voice of woman crying at the end of the song is really disturbing.
Anyway, I recommend "Single Collection" instead of this one.

Eric Andersen's Mature Tour-de-Force.......2000-05-11

I first heard some of the material on this album when Eric Andersen appeared at the now defunct Folkways Coffee House in Peterborough, New Hampshire on Thanksgiving eve in 1992. Andersen is the real thing, a super talent who writes, composes, and performs mostly his own material. That night his rendition of "Rain Falls Down in Amsterdam" brought chills, cheers, and a standing ovation from the hundred or so members of the audience, who were moved by his graphic, emotional, and deeply personal warning of the nascent rise of neo-nazis thugs all over the world. Anderen has long been a personal favorite, and is even better in person than on CD, which is no mean feat. Herein, from the opening bars of "Sudden Love" all the way to "Hills of Tuscany" he gives new credence to the idea that real talent can continue to grow and mature litteraly over decades and decades. Like James Taylor or Van Morrison, Andersen's music is based on timeless melodies and lyrics, but unlike these other superstars, he imbues his songs with a gritty edge that reveal his insight into the nature of things. Most of the songs in this CD are written by Andersen, (with the single exception of "When I'm Gone"), and the range of his writing and composition talent is apparent. His voice is at once sweet, mellow, and smoky, and his ability and arrangements based around his sparkling acoustic guitar work is marvelous to listen to again. Buy this album, listen to it, and be prepared to be entertained and amazed.

some people change and some just stay the same..trouble is most of this generation of writers just did themselves in.....thank god eric andersen is around to inform us what happens to talented writers when they stick around for the distance(ok ok dylan is still here but thats another planet)......eric has gotten sad about the world and our foibles and that could be a real drag to listen to but it isnt...he even makes a murder in chinatown groove along.If you didnt recognize the voice you would think this was robbie robertsons first solo album.So if you are expecting the old eric forget it but if you like the sound of change listen in

Lyrical & Intelligent.......1999-05-11

Like a fine wine, time has matured the work of this master songwriter. Sudden Love is about as close to a hit single as Eric is likely to have, but the depth of emotion and the sincerity of soul introspection is fine dining in an era when most music is like fast food. This CD compliments Eric's efforts with Fjeld, Danko & Andersen on the 2 Ryko CD's. If you're looking within yourself for answers, enhance the journey with this beautiful music!

a masterpiece !!!!!!!!!.......1999-04-10

Having been an Eric Anderson fan for more than a few years, it was a real joy to have him finally release a solo album. This album follows the path that Ghosts Upon the Road set. A true living legend whose songs never fail to evoke feelings. The song Rain Falls Down in Amsterdam brings to chilling reality the menace of racism. Not a bad song on the album, and such variety. An album you will truly enjoy.......

I haven't bought this CD yet, but I sure will! After seeing Eric Andersen in concert I'm hooked. His songs speak to the soul in a way that is hard to describe.

This is the 2nd solo CD by Dave since the breakup of High & Lonesome. It starts off with a great rockin tune and the opening lines are something we all know about..."You've been feelin nervous and out of place". Great wording all throughout. Some members of High & Lonesome join in on Brush Factory Blues to give it a real rock n roll feeling. Washington County tells about growing up in small town Iowa. Highly recommended album!!
