Editorial Reviews When you listen closely to this album a few more times you'll hear some things you've heard before, it's just been so long that you forgot where you heard them. There are whispers of Bowie, Genesis, Floyd, The Doors, and Jethro Tull, yet the overall sound is so cutting-edge and ready for modern radio that it's more like a playful nudge, an elbow in your ribs... A lot of bands right now could take a lesson from these guys. I love this album!" The group was formed in late 1997, and began performing in 1998 in the Northwest and Bay Area. A single recorded in 1998 for Seattle-based Hipsync Records generated airplay in college markets in the Bay Area and in Chicago, and was put into heavy rotation on the DISH Network Power Rock channel (DISH #961) in over 120 million households worldwide. In 1999 they secured venture capital and formed Exhibit-A Records, and began work on their debut LP, "Scar the Shell," with producer Jason Shavey. Shavey's credits include Lovemongers and Jerry Cantrell. Band Members: Bob Owen, Vocals & Djembe; Bruce Brophy, Guitar; Joey St. John-Ryan, Keyboards & Sax; Jeff Eason, Bass & Vocals; Simon Grant, Drums; Pat McDanel, Bass on all tracks of "Scar the Shell"

"On first listening this album just blasts itself into you. It's a tapestry of rhythms and colors that shimmers out of your stereo, and the vocals, my God...the only way I can explain it is like someone grabbing me by the shirt front - not because he's angry, but because what he's saying is so important to him that he doesn't want me to miss a single word. By the end of the third song you know this one's staying in the CD changer for months.

"I saw this band here in Reno a few months ago, and they blew the headliner off the stage. Tight, energetic, fresh. For the first song, the whole room was just standing there with their mouths open. This song sounds great! Really new. Really fresh. I like the keyboards. Incredible vocals. Beautiful verses, explosive chorus. Cool breakdown in the middle: slap bass and drum circle, really tribal. Five stars!"

Pretentious Garbage!.......2001-12-13
Original Singer was better........2000-11-05
This guy is better then average and does sing with a lot of passion, but there is a lot of flat notes and standard bar-fly, raspyness.
The original singer, I think his name was Ron, was of the clean progressive metal + gothic camp. Kinda Peter Murphy meets Geoff Tate. It was a strong element in their early shows.
I will compliment the rest of the band who have maintained their creative and consumate attention to new textures. Especially the play between the guitarist and the keyboards. Thats all very good.
If vocal work was as good as the intrumentalists, they would be quite complete.
Great CD!.......2000-04-30
