AWESOME FINE GREATEST SONG in the world! As a child, my sitter's husband in Katy TX at that time played the guitar and sang three songs I shall never EVER 4-get!!! This ONE LAST KISS I love it. I want to buy an excellent copy used. ASAP or new. He also sang PATCHES I have never heard it since. & off course the Animals HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN. A Timeless Classic.......2004-03-13

J. Frank Wilson Was Born In Lufkin, Texas (1941)
He Began his achieved Success while still a Senior In Highschool
" Last Kiss " Still too this day remains a timeless classic and J. Frank Wilson's only ranking smash hit. I recall this song from my child-hood and the song has still carried with me for nearly 20 years. It's only a shame this man's success hadn't blossomed to it's full potentiality, but nonetheless a great artist attributed for a great song " Last Kiss ". J. Frank Wilson had passed away in 1991 from Alcoholic abuse, May He Rest In Peace.. His music will continue on, and I hope " Last Kiss " will still be played for many, many years to come...

Of the three versions.......2003-12-02

I still prefer J. Frank Wilson & Cavaliers' original. Although most people my age remember the 45 being released on the JOSIE label, the best version is on the green TAMARA label. It was recorded with tons of reverb which is great for a song of this genre.

You may also want to check out the 1973 version by Wednesday that charted.

good lyrics, but...........2003-09-29

This disc has good songs, Last Kiss is my favorite. but as most of the people whoalso reviewed this said, the sound quality is poor. whoever was operating the recording equipment sure had no idea what they were doing!

"Last Kiss" is a great song and a classic. One reviewer here said that it is a bad song and they do not know why anyone would want to remake it. My response to that is that even if they themself dislike the song, the song was liked by very, very many -- it was a huge hit in the fall of 1964 when it was originally released -- #2 on the pop charts -- and by the end of 1964 was #9 on the Top 100 Hits of 1964 Billboard list -- now that is NOT a bad song!!

Essential for Prokofiev Fans.......2000-07-23

Although this is Prokofiev's second most popular ballet (next to 'Romeo and Juliet'), the complete ballet has been rarely recorded on LP or disc, the most famous being Andre Previn with the LSO, Ashkenazy with the Cleveland (recently re-released), and Pletnev's much heralded 1995 release w/ the Russian National Orchestra on DGG. Rozhdestvensky eclipses them all by a wide margin. Tempos are generally brisk. He accentuates the dark passages lurking within, adding dramatic tension in passages lacking in the other recordings. And his lines are stunning at times. Consider Previn's more popular account by comparison -- it is downright moribund and sluggish.

The orchestral suite from 'The Steel Step' is also excellent. It offers a glimpse into Prokofiev when he tried to write a ballet on Soviet themes at the behest of Sergei Diaghilev. It is a monotonous, steely, dissonant work, but vividly brought to life by Rozhdestvensky's expert conducting.

The only criticism of this title is the recording quality -- the liner notes do not indicate when it was actually recorded although it is likely from the 60s or 70s. As a result, aural defects typical of Soviet recording equipment of the period can be heard, namely shrill brass and tinny violins in the upper treble regions. However, this should not detract from the musicality of these recordings.

By far the very best recording.......1999-09-27

Rozhdestvensky's is by far the very best recording of Prokofiev's neglected ballet masterpiece. Neither Previn's nor Pletnev's comes anywhere near it.

if you like well polished quartet singing with top notched musicians playing while they sing this is the ticket. everybody is playing and singing but the lead singer who has truly earned the name henry;the workhorse'rankin shines on this cd.leave it to jesus.wait on the lord are two favorites the guitarist craig johnson also shares lead vocals and does a uplifting version of walter hawkins washed in the blood. this is one of the best gospel recordings i've heard all year.

The Lord has blessed this dynamic group with another powerful cd.
Jay,Craig,Marcus,Dennis and George,has lift up the name jesus,in
a good way. This project has a variety of styles from,traditional to jazz, just to name a few.The songs reach to all listeners. My favorite is "So In Love",led by the drummer{Marcus}. What a great song. I believe this group is headed to the top of the quartet charts. So look out."The Cavs" are here to stay. If you do not have this cd. I suggest that,"Reborn" is the project you add to your collection.
