Potholes In Our Molecules [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews
Album Description
A major part of Chicagos burst in underground hip hop, Robust is known in the Chi town scene for his past collaborations with groups such as Scam Artists and The Molemen. His 2000 independent release "Freelance Gynecologist" got attention worldwide from fans and critics of dope punchlines and humorous rhymes. Soon Bigga would appear on projects like Sage Francis "Still Sick
Urine Trouble" & Qwels debut "If It Aint Been In A Pawn Shop, Then It Cant Play The Blues", where he showed his growth into a more serious lyricist. After success with 7" single "Flibbertigibbit" (also on Meaty Ogres recent "Leo vs. Pisces"), hip hop was definitely ready for Robigga to step up the game. Enter "Potholes In Our Molecules", the brand new full length on Galapagos4.
Things get very serious on this deep album, as Robust bares it all from the inside out, with his intricate flows & creative rhyme schemes intact. Of course he comes off with some humor, wit & straight rap savvy as well. The supremely crafted beats, handled mostly by Meaty Ogre & east coast producer Prolyphic, create a solid moody backdrop to keep your head stuck on nod. Dreas, Maker, DJ White Lightning, Sun Spark & Bless also contribute heat to this 17 track album. Here's to life's flawless imperfections, flawlessly perfected as hip hop potholes.

Customer Reviews:
thought-provoking best of chicago.......2005-01-31
in my opinion, robust is the best lyricist on the G4 label. add to that, the complexity of his beats and unassuming stage presence, and we're in awe and anxious for what's next for this unique talent.
Nice album from apparent Qwel understudy.......2004-04-22
While I definitely wouldn't go as far as the last reviewer to claim that Robust is better than Slim Shady EP era Eminem, or even Eyedea on at his best, this is a nice album. Robust has grown a lot since I was introduced to him as "The Short Necked Giraffe" on Sage Francis' "Still Sick" CD-R back in '01. It's probably not a coincidence that his style has grown very similiar to labelmate Qwel over the years. While I prefer Qwel in terms of lyrics and precision of flow, Robust is consistently entertaining, and his album delivers where (both of) Qwel's failed: Dope production throughout. While even the beats share a similiar lo-fi, muddy vibe, they're definitely more consistent here. With all the comparisons to Qwel, I think it would be nice to see these two work on an album together. As evidenced by tracks like "19.99 AD," they have a nice chemistry when paired. "Potholes In Our Molecules" is strong enough to stand on it's own however, as Robust keeps things interesting, and proves he has what it takes to carry the album.
better than eyedea, better than old eminem.......2004-03-03
this album is dope. really nice dusty production and there is only one word to describe robust- flow. he's got lots of it. he's very fluent and wordy and a very good headphone listen. at times he's deep, but always clever. if you like meaty ogre's production and liked the single "flibberdegibbit" or however you spell it, you'll like this for sure. however you stumbled across this album, i highly (hint hint) recommend it.
