Books on Tape Sings the Blues

Editorial Reviews
Marc Weingarten, Entertainment Weekly, November 14, 2003
"Unlike so much techno-funk, Blues offers a lot of interesting terrain to explore."

Adrian Zupp, rollingstone.com, October 28, 2003
"Unquestionably interesting and indisputably arcane, Books' synthetic-music experimentalism is a nuthouse art gallery for your brain."

Album Description
Sings the Blues is Books on Tape's sophomore wide release, more electronic mayhem from the man who brought you 2002's Throw Down Your Laptops. On this release, Todd Drootin (aka BoT) ups the steaks (and other beef products as well) with creative, stylized beats over mad samples and loops. Superb alt-pop done without instruments, and pure BoT (no guest performers or begging friends were added to this record), BoTStB bends and weaves through melodic rhythms, hip beats, and enough varied themes and tones to make Burroughs blush. Licensed from No Type Records, Montreal, Canada (IMNT088).
