One of the most brilliant dark ambient releases... ever.......2000-09-24

And this is probably the best album for his "homecoming." It's strong dark ambience of an orchestral variety, using a series of dramatic strings as well as the occasional bursts of fluid cello to punctuate his somber atmospheres.

The album is completely vocal-less, yet it has a palpable feeling of dread in certain places; it manages to create a sensation of this world truly being haunted by demons, cackling and laughing around you as you play the disc.

But for those people who rarely get anything out of this kind of music (ie no emotional response), the album's strong anyway. It's active enough to be an engaging listen, and in no way would this qualify as background music. It has the potential of appealing to fans of traditional dark ambience, as well as fans of the poppier strains of the genre (and let's not forget classical connoisseurs, who will be drawn in by Salchak's penchant for orchestral elements).

I own the first two Blink Twice albums (Other Locations and Newer Unknown Breeds) as well, and they are, quite simply, excellent and brilliant, respectively. The Demon Haunted World maintains that high standard with its clear evolution in sound.

Do yourself a favor and get the album, but beware of listening to it at night!
