Editorial Reviews Although Whistle Jacket is essentially an indie rock band, its range of songs draws upon folk, rock, and even country. Nevertheless, the band maintains a consistency in sound, a sound that perhaps gains its identity in its merging of varying influences. As far as comparisons to other bands, Whistle Jacket has been described as having elements similar to Neil Young, Modest Mouse, Nick Drake, Sebadoh, Superchunk, and Elliott Smith.

About the Artist
Whistle Jacket began in a basement apartment in Somerville, MA with Michael Leyden on guitar and Chris Hart playing his drum set with pens (so as not to disturb the neighbors). Eventually, the pens broke, Whistle Jacket got a better place to practice where Chris could actually use drumsticks, and Doug Sisko joined the band. Doug became the bass player, though in the months to come, he would emerge as a producer and engineer of what would become Rainy Day Sunshine. He would also contribute guitar, saxophone, xylophone, and recorder. Yes, the album does have a recorder solo. A recent addition to the band is Rod Moody, formerly of Swallow (Sub Pop), who has given Whistle Jacket its varsity letter.
