This power pop trio needs to be heard to be appreciated. Nothing in particular about their sound stands out--in fact they've got a fairly typical guitar/bass/percussion thing going on. But it's the way diverse musical styles come together in often unexpected ways that bumps them up a few notches from the average indie band. Some tracks, like "Hello" and "Alienne" are harmonic & lyrical, seeming to reflect a psychedelic influence; others, like "New Boots" and "Manchild," sound like they could've played on 80s college rock stations. The cover of "Love is All Around" (theme from the Mary Tyler Moore Show) is pure fun.
