Honest

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
Donna Barker and band make a true offering with an astounding, string-enhanced collection of worshipful songs carried on wings by Barker’s pristine but passionate vocals, alternating with a male lead. Inventive, inspiring, and bursting with such diverse sound that it resists specific genre, Honest looks introspectively at themes of redemption and hope.

Oh, my GOD!
I haven't stopped listening to this cd since I purchased it.
It's like crack for the ears! This CD is highly addictive!
I love his jazz, pop, soul, and country, combo!
You just don't hear good music like this anymore!
My favorite song is "mississippi river girl", but all of the songs are amazing!!

2 out of 5 stars This passes for funk and soul now? .......2006-04-08

First and formost... White guys can NOT sing soul music. They don't have the charisma or the vocal rhythm to do it. This is just more extremely slick pop music.

Where is the fire and passion?

LOVE HIS VOICE!!! It pulls you in and makes you listen to what he is singing and I like that!!!

Josh Kelley's cd Almost Honest is one of the best I've heard in awhile. He has a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. I know its on heavy repeat in my apartment!

Album Description

In her new release, Christine Kane opens herself up to show the many different sides of her artistry, her personality and her spirit. An organic and often raw mix of tight acoustic textures and rhythms sets down a dynamic backdrop for Christine's earthy and elegant voice, which manages to hold within its range both vulnerability and strength at the same time - much like the whole CD itself.

Christine's reverence is undeniable in several cuts on the CD. “The Way Clouds Do” describes a gritty bus ride through highway traffic while looking out on the world through the eyes of a mystic seeking change. “Times Three” reads like a biblical text and moves dramatically with the pulsing guitar work of Larry Campbell. And the powerful “The One Thing I Know” poetically and effortlessly travels back and forth between the profound and the personal.

Christine's irreverence comes out in the more humorous notes in the album. The women in her songs live by the railroad tracks, drive beat up Volkswagens and don't go to church. The laugh-out-loud cut on the CD, “No Such Thing as Girls Like That,” starts with a comical look at an MTV video and ends with a description of an aging Barbie with sagging breasts and osteoporosis. Christine's masterful treatment of such a well-worn subject secures her place among the finest humorist songwriters of her generation.

“Rain & Mud & Wild & Green” was recorded in New York City and produced by Christine and Ben Wisch, making this Christine's first CD recorded away from her home of Asheville, NC. One of the best producer/engineers of the acoustic genre, Ben Wisch has a diverse list of credits ranging from Marc Cohn to Kathy Mattea.

5 out of 5 stars Touching and Easy on the Ears.......2007-03-14

This is my first Christine Kane album and I will be buying more. I originally heard "Roses" on a Putamayo compilation and loved it. The rest of this album did not dissapoint. It only took me one listen to discern 4 or 5 new favorites, I'm going to be giving this album as a gift to many of my friends.

5 out of 5 stars Good Pick Me Up Music Without Being Perky.......2004-01-23

Having lived in Asheville and gone to see Christine play at the Grey Eagle whenever possible, I pull out this CD whenever I need to feel GOOD. Her voice and music are amazing, and she has intelligent and mostly uplifting lyrics.

5 out of 5 stars A guy likes her stuff, too.......2003-10-22

I know Christine Kane from this new album and her song "Off the Ground" which is on Putumayo's great _Women's Work_ CD. The latter is an all-time favorite song, so when my wife got me R&M&W&G for an anniversary present I was hoping for a lot. It has no tracks that are new total favorites, but somehow it's alway in one CD player or another around here. We've decided to add a star to my original four star rating.

It's good at work in the studio, very good at my desk, I like it in the car, and it's been on the big stereo a time or two, too. I guess I must really like the way it all fits together.

"She Don't Like Roses" is the reason for adding a star with time. It took me awhile to see how perfectly the gentle tune and musical arrangement match the characters and the sweet little story of two people finding each other.

"Times Three" is fluid and emotional without being overbearing. If you like it, you should read the strange novel by Dorothy Bryant called _The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You_. They are two very different takes on the idea that our dreams are an important part of our personal realities.

Ms. Kane is coming to Northern California soon, and I am so looking forward to seeing at least one of her shows! I'll bring a green pen for an autograph and some green to get her other CDs.

Dec 9
P.S. She rocked, of course!

4 out of 5 stars Great Stuff.......2003-10-17

This lady has real talent. I saw her tonight in concert in a small 200 seat place in Chattanooga. Christine has an easy and gentle raport with the crowd and is almost instantly likable. Then she sings, and, you are completely won over. When she wants to be funny, she is without being corny. When she wants to be serious or touching, she is able to draw the listener into her private world of emotions.Christine is a good singer and a good guitar player and an excellent song writer. This is a very good cd, but if you ever have the chance, go see her live. You will think she is singing to you.

5 out of 5 stars Da Bomb, Yo!.......2003-08-22

5 out of 5 stars Jack Jones Ain't So Bad--He's Great!.......2007-04-29

I grew up in the 60s listening to Dylan and Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, and if somebody mentioned Jack Jones to me, I would have made gagging sounds. My friends and I thought he was just some old-man-no-talent lounge singer. We would have sooner dressed in three piece suits than listened to his "crooning."

45 years later, I'm listening to Jones and wondering where the heck he's been all these years. His voice is pure and true and so heavy with what Bruce Springsteen calls "the human touch" that I find myself listening to this album over and over. And not only listening to his voice but also the arrangements. They are so intimate that you think Jones is playing just for you.

If Janis Joplin were alive today, she'd be writing this commentary about how Jack Jones is THE singer to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars The GREATEST recording of Jack Jones career.......2003-12-08

This si the absolute best cd Jones has ever recorded!!! This is the BEST!!! His voice is smooth and wow he holds and hits thsoe notes with more vocal control than anyone in the business. This is a great tribute to Bennett, and Benent I'm sure was greatful. and thank you Jack for having the courtosy of doing this tribute before Tony pases on. I'm sure many will record his songs after he's gone, but you had the decency to record this while he's around to enjoy it. This is Jack with a jazz trio at his best, singing like a real jazz pro! The Mike Renzi Trio is well featured here!

5 out of 5 stars The HIGHLIGHT of Jack's long career!.......2003-12-04

As Jones once told me "This was a labor of love" referring to his Tony Bennett tribute. I had the honor of seeing him live, with Phyllis Diller, Jones was wonderful! He sang many of these tunes. On this cd we are lucky to hear Jones with Mike Renzi's jazz trio(which is sort of like Bennett's own Ralph Sharon Trio). This is sheding new light on Jones, Jones the jazz singer... this is art in the highest form, and Jones' appealing baritone is stronger and more appealing than ever! He has the greatest vocal control of any singer today, and he really is the greatest singer around today(giving steve Lawrence & Tony Bennett some competition). A great CD(get one for a friend for Christmas, it makes a great stocking stuffer).

5 out of 5 stars Does anyone remember????.......2003-06-07

Hi, Jack Jones fans-I'm glad there are others who appreciate his artistry over the years. This isn't a review but a request for information: my sister had a Jones album long ago that featured some of his best songs like Willow and Blue Boy. The album cover was grainy, like canvas. Does anyone know the name of the album, and how I can get it? How about another compilation featuring those songs?

5 out of 5 stars Warning: This may be art.......2002-10-09

If there's anything more annoying than the comparative neglect Jack Jones is receiving these days, it's the dismissive or patronizing comments of listeners, even Jack Jones "fans," who seem incapable of comprehending what an album such as this represents. This is not another "commodity" by a pop star; it's not a lounge act; it's not a nostalgic whiff of the past; and it's certainly not an example of an artist who is coasting or taking his audience in the least bit for granted.

Don't mess with this album unless you're up to the challenge that it represents. Or prepare for it by first trying to extract the beauty from Sinatra's "Close to You," or a late Billie Holiday recording, or Bill Evans' Vanguard session, or for that matter an Ode by Keats or a string quartet by Brahms. The musicianship of both Jones and pianist Mike Renzi on this album is of the highest order (listen to the singer's phrasing on "San Francisco, then replay it, attending this time to the exquisite voicings of the piano). The chemistry is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Finally, listen to the music as much as its makers. Each of the performances is less about the performers than the songs themselves--and the drama that can be brought to life only by performers willing to lay it all on the line.

The quest for truth and beauty is fraught with perils. Thank God there are still a few brave souls willing to undertake it.

1 out of 5 stars Utter Garbage.......2005-09-20

This is total dross, to compare them to The Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly is an insult to both these bands.

If they came anywhere near Scotland and performed like this they would be flung off the top of Edinburgh Castle and then shot at with the one o'clock gun.

Pity you couldn't get no stars.

2 out of 5 stars Fire the singer.......2005-03-26

That's not singing. It sound like geese farts on a foggy day.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!.......2004-12-28

This CD was really awesome! Loch'd and Loaded is a great Real McKenzies album and has a cool name...yeah, I thought it was much better than Oot and Aboot.

5 out of 5 stars Loch'd Loaded and Ready to Rock.......2004-05-11

Plainly put, a great CD. A great blend of traditional Scottish and modern punk style. I truly enjoy the blend of thoughtful lyrics with the pipes and metal. This is one of the CDs I will play before every Highland Game and St. Patricks Day! My favorite songs on the album are "Scots Around The World" and "Swords of a Thousand Men", these reinforce "The Blood is Strong".

4 out of 5 stars Bagpipes and Guitars.......2004-03-25

If you like the more melodic 'Dropkick Murphys' songs and enjoy the combination of Bagpipes and Power Guitars, then look no further: This CD has all these elements : Great Sing-along choruses, high speed guitars and lots of Bagpipes. I actually like the vocals better than 'Flogging Molly', and even there is still a bit of room to improve on the songwriting in my opinion, I strongly recommend buying this album. It is just pure fun!

Album Description

Secrets, the debut CD from Allison Crowe, singer-songwriter, is "soulful, poignant, and always intense". Describing further the album's "piano-based rock" sound, indie music columnist Jennifer Patton (in Delusions of Adequacy 'zine) says: "Allison plays with styles and infuses bits of blues, folk, jazz, and more into each song, all beautifully packaged around piano and limited use of guitar and other instruments." "This incredible chill-inducing voice coming out of a young person is such a rare treat," writes Amy Lotsberg, of Minneapolis-based Collected Sounds. "This girl's the real deal." "Brilliant Tori Amos-like album with its own soul," says Swedish reviewer Anna Maria Stjärnell in Luna Kafé's review of Secrets.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars a voice that sends chills down your spin.......2005-04-24

Allison Crowe is one of the best female artists I have heard in so many years and her music gives me hope for the years to come.
With her creative lyrics and haunting voice I find myself listening to her music all the time. And as a lover of Montreal, I would have to say that is my favorite song on the album, bringing back personal waves of nostalgia. However, "Whether I'm Wrong" is another song I play constantly. Her pacifist anti-war position is one I admire, and her cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" is nothing short of magical.

5 out of 5 stars "rocks with unique roots charm".......2005-02-16

Allison Crowe's debut full-length album, Secrets, has enjoyed wide-spread critical and public acclaim since its release. Collected Sounds named Secrets one of the "Top CDs of 2004", saying: "Allison Crowe is an amazing talent and the music world would be doing itself a huge favor if it paid her the attention she deserves. Get her CDs now, and you can say you knew her 'when'." David McPherson, writing in exclaim!, says: "With the soul of Janis Joplin and the tenderness of fellow Canuck Sarah McLachlan, Crowe rocks with her own unique brand of roots charm."

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely outstanding. Chilling raw talent........2004-09-27

I first saw Allison sing at a taping for BT here on Canada's East Coast. After hearing just one song I immediately scoured downtown looking for a copy of her CD. I haven't heard such amazing talent in a long time. A breathtaking artist with an outstanding set of vocal cords, standards, and genuine raw talent. She's just as good, if not better, live than on CD. This is a must-have for your collection. She's currently on tour. If she's in your area, I'd check her out live, too.

5 out of 5 stars You won't regret this purchase, that's for sure........2004-08-03

Well, I've been an admirer and supporter of Allison Crowe since I reviewed her first EP, "6 Songs" in October of 2002. I was stunned then, as I am now. This incredible chill-inducing voice coming out of a young person is such a rare treat in the age of Britneys, Hilarys and so on. This girl's the real deal. This release showcases Crowe's beautiful strong, gutsy voice, as well as her piano playing and songwriting that seem way past her young years. She has actually matured on this CD in comparison to her previous releases.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous.......2004-08-01

This is obviously a first release with some technical problems but the music is amazing, her voice is fantastic, and it's one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. I listened to all of the downloads on the amazon website and loved them so much I had to buy the cd. The other songs are just as good if not even better. I would recommend this cd for people who like strong voices and music that stirs your soul.

3 out of 5 stars well its not bad........2005-01-27

This album comes as my follow up to "loch'd and Loaded", which caught my ear from the beginning and kept my interest throughout. "Loch'd" was probably the only album with a bagpipe I can never be guilty listening to. It was a really fun album with an incredible amount of energy and catchy hooks throughout. I eagerly pursued more songs by the band, and the results left me a bit dissapointed. I will start off by saying that the songs on "Oot and Aboot" aren't by any means terrible. The problem is that I could crank the album on my computer cd player while surfing the web and not one distinct track would stand out and make me want to listen. After a few listens, i've pinpointed several ways it could have been better.

The biggest problem with "Oot and Aboot" is that its too clean. In punk equivilance, its like when they redid the Texas Chainsaw Massacre using all the best state of the art cameras and film quality. Some things are best left grainy. Punk is no exception. The production may be to fault in this respect because there was never any sense of "rawness" that is so vital to a good rock album.

The second problem also centers around the whole "sounding clean" issue. The singer is trying to go the Bad Religion route by incorporating too much melody in his voice for a punk band. It works for Bad Religion. It doesn't work for a gruff hardknockin band of guys trying to preserve the integrity of being dangerous. He needs to keep a small mix of melody and "grainy" vocal flatness like the vocals in "loch'd and Loaded."

The third problem and most significant in my mind is the drummer. The tempos were consistantly "pop rock"y and lacked the energy of "Loch'd." It sounded more like the drummer was more interested in keeping a beat rather than going out and kicking as much tail as possible. It was simply too tame for a great punk album. "loch'd and Loaded" was a great punk album. This one, not so much. Probably worth getting if you are a diehard fan though.

4 out of 5 stars Not as good as Loch'd and Loaded.......2003-07-06

McKenzie and Robertson weren't minding the store when this album was mixed. The highland pipes got put in the background instead of up front where they belong. Good stuff but not like Loch'd and Loaded where the pipes are the lead guitar. There's a zillion punk bands- no point in sounding like everyone else. Be different, be Scottish.

4 out of 5 stars Another kilt-lifter!.......2003-06-03

The Real McKenzies are an amazing band. If you already know and love them as I do, then you certainly won't be disappointed. This has some great tracks. I only wish it was a bit longer with some more pronounced bagpipes (cuz that's the best part) or I'd have given it a 5. The studio production with help from Fat Mike (NOFX) and some backing vocals by Spike Slawson (Swingin' Utters) provide for a more polished product.
If you're new to this band but love Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's, and the Swingin' Utters, BUY THIS NOW...and go back and buy their first two if you can find them!! And don't miss them live cuz they put on one of the best club shows you'll ever see!

4 out of 5 stars Great effort from my faves..............2003-05-27

Let me start by saying this band's music has helped me through the past year of cancer and chemo.... so they will ALLWAYS have a special place in my heart. This CD shows a more metalic side of the band while also presenting a stronger effort on almost every front. The songwriting is getting better, Paul's voice never sounded finer and the liner notes and packaging are more complete (...no lyrics though!). So why not 5 stars?.... Because the pipes are so far in the background as to be non-existant (w/ the exception of "Taylor Made" & "Ye Banks & Braes"). That would be a short coming of the production... not the band. With that said, I consider this a great recording and well worth the money (highly recommended!!). Highlights include "Ye Banks & Braes", "Oot & Aboot", "Jennifer Que" & "The Night the Lights Went Out in Scotland" (THAT would be a great show opening tune).... I hope to see them perform someday as they are a legendary live act. Go see them if you ever get the chance!!

5 out of 5 stars outstanding - honestly.......2006-08-06

A friend turned me on to the live in Kingston cd and I was blown away. The song Honest Hour was the total hook for me - the lyrics are so descriptive and everthing flows to perfection. Great band - great album - great sound. Smooth - awesome - eclectic - down home - good time toe tapping - knee slapping put a grin on your face music.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite cd I have bought in 6 months.......2006-02-07

This cd is just great. The Paul Henry and Speculator are outstanding. It truly is "An Honest Hour" of music. Assembly of Dust is where it's at.

5 out of 5 stars One of those CDs you can play the whole way through.......2006-01-25

I had heard some Strangefolk before, so some songs were familiar to me (like Speculator). That being said, you don't need any jamband background to appreciate this CD.
The tones of each song distinguish themselves. Reid Genauer is an incredible songwriter. Nate Wilson is one of the best piano players out there in my opinion. SOngs like "Honest Hour", "Roads", and "Man with a Plan" make the CD.
If there was a 6 star rating, I would give it.

5 out of 5 stars One of my BEST purchases of 2005.......2006-01-23

Radio in Key West, Florida is really bad...R-E-A-L-L-Y bad.

Now I have satellite radio...and life is good.

Anyway, I was jamming out and working on my computer, and this really killer song came on ("roads"...track 4). I was listening to the "Jam On" station, which really isn't my thing, but I can dig it now and again (I like to keep an open mind with all types music).

In this case, what was coming out of my speakers wasn't "Jam Bandish"...it was just beautiful music, plus it totally rocked.

I stopped what I was doing and just sat their blown away and fired up. That usually doesn't happen to me during a "first listen".

I typed them into Amazon to read what the customers had to say, and at that time, was surprised to find only two reviews(both 5 stars)so I thought "what the heck", shelled out some cash, and the rest is history.

I've turned this album on to so many people...and they love it.

It's fun music, and it has to be one of the best Live performances I have ever heard.

If you are open to good music...take a chance and give this album a shot. I am a critical S.O.B. when it comes to music and I proudly give this one 5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars They don't make 'em like this anymore.......2005-12-31

The hook-filled first two songs, which got some airplay on our local AAA station, grabbed me like few others have in recent years. The rest of the CD is just as good. Superior songwriting and very tight ensemble performances all the way through. Until you hear the crowd reaction between songs you can easily forget this is a live album. I was immediately reminded of The Band -- Reid Gennauer's plaintive voice has some elements of both Rick Danko and Levon Helm and the harmonies are similar, plus the lyrics evoke Robbie Robertson's heartland-inspired classics. Mortality, fate and honor are handled with skill and humor. There are also echoes of Bruce Hornsby (particularly on Speculator) and some nimble guitar reminscent of Dickey Betts. I have heard other live recordings of this band, which are freely available, and I think they really are this good live without any studio sweetening. An honest hour of intelligent, unpretentious and spirited music. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars HURRICANE RITA....SORRY I MEAN CHITA.......2005-12-09

Bajour had most of all the ingredients for a successful show. Talented cast, colorful costumes, witty scenery, tuneful and lively songs, torrid choreography and the fantastic and uncannily thrilling dancing of Chita Rivera who single-handedly nearly caused a fire alarm from the sparks shooting from her heels. The problem which could not be solved was the book which was too convaluted and had a premise stretched beyond the breaking point. Nancy Dussault as Emily is a student who in order to obtain a degree in anthropology must write a thesis on the primitive customs of a tribe. She settles on a "tribe' of Gypsies in NYC and that was the stretch that stopped the show from becoming a hit and a shame it is to anyone who hears the delightful score. The cd is now out of print but worthwhile for theatre buffs if it becomes available again but unfortunatly the fiery dancing of Ms Rivera (on the numbers 'The Haggle' 'Mean' 'Bajour' and 'The Sew-up' the last not on the cd because it is a dance number only)can't be appreciated.

5 out of 5 stars BAJOUR is a winner, maybe for all the wrong reasons........2004-10-31

First I had the piano score, then I had to get the vinyl, and then, thank goodness, the CD came out to preserve this relic of a simpler and more innocent time in musical theatre history. BAJOUR had a short life back in the days when a Broadway season had lots of shows to choose from and budgets weren't sky-high. So, what's the deal with this one? Well, listen to "Guarantees" and "Words, Words, Words," for starters. Just terrible....but in such a wonderful, Broadway sort of way, that you have to listen to the entire show. Then there's "Love Line," which as a piano solo is very pretty. And "Honest Man," a good, old-fashioned Broadway "show stopping" number. MY FAIR LADY it ain't, but good-bad Broadway it is, with Chita Rivera, Herschel Bernardi, et al, belting 'em out in the type of show that, alas, doesn't come along very often, but, in the 60's did, more often than not. (By the way, if you want another show that fits in this particular good-bad 60's mold, try I HAD A BALL, with Buddy Hackett and Richard Kiley.)

4 out of 5 stars A very nice score........2003-01-20

The CD of Bajour is the perfect example of a "nice" Broadway show: Plesant score with a few nice songs such as "Words, Words, Words" and "Where is the Tribe for Me", but nothing groundbreaking or remarkable about it. Great performance by Chita Rivera, Nancy Dussault and, Herschel Bernardi also help. A good CD for Broadway fans.

4 out of 5 stars THE perfect example of the minor broadway musical.......2000-01-26

a generation ago -- or two -- the broadway musical season would usually produce one blockbuster, several flops, and 2 or 3 "nice shows" that would play to theatre parties and tourists and show queens, and then after six months to a year, close at a modest profit or a modest loss.

BAJOUR is a classic of this type of show. it is replete with almost hilarious comedy songs, and almost lovely ballads. its ambitions were modest, but it accomplished them 100%. and there are some great performances here by broadway legend chita rivera, and the sadly ignored and underrated nancy dussault.

if you expect every show to be MY FAIR LADY, this album is not for you. but if you want to spend a thoroughly enjoyable hour listening to what the broadway musical once was, you cannot do better than BAJOUR!

3 out of 5 stars Catchy tunes with two star turns........1998-11-23

Chita Rivera and Nancy Dussault are the stars of this show. The score isn't wonderful, but there are plenty of tunes to keep you humming. Two songs, "Mean" and "I Can," demonstrate why Ms Rivera has been a plus for any musical production

Nerf Herder scored an unexpected novelty hit in 1997 with "Van Halen," a jab at Sammy Hagar. By that point, Van Halen wasn't very contemporary, and staleness seems to be Nerf Herder's specialty. How to Meet Girls, the second release by these Weird Al Yankovic wannabes, is awfully toothless, which wouldn't be so bad if their targets were fresh. "Courtney" is a slam on grunge goddess Courtney Love--not exactly the toughest victim, especially with ill-conceived lyrics like "Saw you in a movie about pornography / you were looking pale and kind of saggy." Other brickbats targeting goth girls, Michael Bolton, metalheads, and teenage angst are lackluster. The under-12 set may find these tunes to be just funny enough to keep up with the bratty Blink 182-ish sound, but those with more discriminating tastes won't want to know How to Meet Girls. --Jason Josephes

5 out of 5 stars Not sure why more people don't know about this album............2005-09-04

I got this right when it came out, and it was definitely one of my favorite albums for a long time. What it lacks in substance, it makes up for in humor and great music. "She's A Sleestak" is the only song that I don't care for on here, and that's saying a lot. I'm pretty picky about music.
I've been looking through my old CD's, and this is one of those that stands up. Rediscovery is a beautiful thing.
If you want serious, meaningful music, don't look here, but if you want something to make you smile, this is definitely something I'd recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Doesn't get better.......2002-12-16

Nerf Herder rules. I've listened to a lot of similar bands for a long time, even some really obscure ones that were pretty good. Nerf Herder is my favorite band without question. ALL of their songs are good, and I don't say that lightly. As a matter of fact, out of all the bands I've heard, they are the only band that I would feel comfortable saying that about. Buy all of their cd's, including this one...and no, I'm not Parry or Steve (band members).

5 out of 5 stars Nerf Herder: Fallen Angels.......2002-09-28

If Nerf Herder's first album was a loveable mess than this disc cleans up that mess but still remains to have that special Nerf Herder charm. I'm not saying that I didn't like Nerf Herder's debut. In fact, it's a hilarious album and basically an all out underrated masterpiece. It's just that this disc seems to have a better, more polished, and overall more mature sound. The lyrics on this one are still hilarious as hell. The music still has a certain punk feel. There are still songs that are named after girls, except Annalee and Diana are replaced by Vivian and Courtney (Love). There are still songs about unexpected things like perverts, Pantera fans in love, new wave bands, life on mars, and Jonathan Richman. Also, a new addition to Nerf Herder's music is the synthesizer which gives this album more of a MOOG feel to it. If you want some quality Pop-Punk or if you just want to laugh your freaking head off I would strongly suggest buying this album.

Now I know why I usually pay no heed to jaded music critics. How anyone can see this album as nothing more than a "Weird Al" ripoff is beyond me.

This is by far one of my favourite albums in my collection - a collection with its fair share of classic albums. In a time where so many people consider "pop" to be a dirty word (thanks to the neverending stream of boy bands and pop "divas"), this album saves the day with its catchy riffs, unaffected humour and freespirited pure pop goodness.

An album that will appeal to any age, but with references that will certainly resonate more soundly with listeners who experienced the 70s and/or the 80s in all their glory. For those of us who danced to Haysi Fantayzee ('Vivian'), got "Pac-Man fever", adored the A-Team and CHiPS ('For You') and lived through the big-haired heavy metal heyday of the 80s (`Pantera Fans in Love'), this album is the perfect trip down memory lane.
