Buy it for the Wiseguys remixes.......2004-06-27
Make no mistake, every full-length Offspring album after Ixnay is awful. However, the singles released for Americana and Conspiracy are definitely worth getting ahold of. Obviously, not for the title song on the single (in this case, "She's Got Issues"), but for the rare live songs, b-sides, and remixes that are included with most. I just think it's worth pointing out that the Wiseguy remixes of "The Kids" are wonderful, and even if you don't like the band's hard-edged rock music, you'll most likely enjoy the remixes. They sound a lot like 80's pop music with a rap tinge thanks to the drum loop in the background and the alternate vocal take from Holland. Plus, you gotta love those synths. And unlike on "Hit That", the synthesizers on the Wiseguy remixes weren't abused and used to make the hokiest synth-pop since Kraftwerk. I'm giving this single five stars because I was so darn surprised to hear this oh-so-80's vibe from The Offspring.
