Amazon.com essential recording
Though recorded in the 1970s, this classic Raffi album is still one of the children's troubadour's bestsellers. The gentle, joyful style; simple musical arrangements; and easy-to-follow up-front vocals have made Singable Songs for the Very Young a favorite among tiny tots, parents, and preschool teachers. By combining traditional songs like "The More We Get Together," "Down by the Bay," and "Going to the Zoo" with Raffi originals like "I Wonder If I'm Growing," "Peanut Butter Sandwich," and a jazzy near-cover, "Old MacDonald Had a Band," the album has a familiar feel while giving young children the opportunity to learn new songs and rhythms. Other notable titles include the interactive "Brush Your Teeth," "Five Little Pumpkins," and the tongue-twisting "Willoughby Wallaby Woo." --Deborah Moore

Love it.......2007-07-17
My 6 month old daughter really likes this CD. She will stop crying and listen when I put it on.
For a new generation.......2007-07-04
I bought this CD for my grandchildren to listen to. Our family, including their father, always listened to the original on long trips. My grandchildren love most of the songs too. My 6 year old grandson finds some songs "boring" but mostly they love it, just like their father did.
Fun songs to sing a long with baby!.......2007-05-03
My son really loves this. And I have to admit, it's infectious! I sing them to him at other times, too. For example, when it's time to brush his teeth, I sing that song. He smiles and opens his mouth wide to brush his teeth. If he gets fussy in the car, I know I can pop this in and he will settle immediately. I catch him smiling to himself, too.
High nostalgia level!.......2007-04-02
I have had Raffi music in my home for the last 30 years - my own 5 children have enjoyed his music and I have purchased Raffi CD's for all of my grandchildren as well. Raffi's simple yet interesting melodies and warm voice are like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter's day - comforting and delicious! Listening it to transports me to a time when my children were playing together and in the background was Raffi music and all was well in the world. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Here are some more Raffi titles, all recommended:Baby Beluga,Down By the Bay,[[ASIN:B0000003IO The Singable Songs Collection,Wheels on the Bus, (Raffi Songs to Read). Yes, folks, it's yet another great Frank Zappa album...are you gettting tired of the excellence? .......2007-02-04
This is a sister album to Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Zappa had disbanded the Mothers by this time, and this album is left over material from the Mothers. Despite that, it has an incredibly coherent feel (much like Weasels), and the material here is superb. I love the song WPLJ, showcasing Zappa's love of doo-wop ballads. A lot of the songs here are really intricate, and would probably be fantastic in an orchestral setting (like Overture to a Holiday in Berlin and Igor's Boogie, probably named after Igor Stravinsky, a good buddy of Frank's who was his roadie in the 1960's, and one of Russia's foremost composers). I love the way Zappa handles a heckler in The Little House I Used to Live In (and the song is good too). The title is one of Zappa's most memorable as well. Another superb album in the cannons of Zappa.
Fabulous..........2006-09-21
The only Frank Zappa Recording I like better than this is Hot Rats...but this a very close second. Fabulous from start to finish...
A favorite meal.......2006-07-26
I've been a Zappa fan for a very long time. I've owned Burnt Weeny Sandwich (on LP) for a long time. The odd thing is that I didn't figure out until just recently that Burnt Weeny Sandwich is one of my favorite Zappa albums. I think that part of the problem is that I didn't really understand the album when I was a kid--although I certainly didn't dislike it. It was one of the last ones I picked up on CD, so that after not really hearing it for years, I mostly heard a song at a time in isolation with the disc in my CD changers on random shuffle.
But as someone else mentioned, this is really a concept album of sorts, and needs to be listened to in its entirety to "get it". It's an odd concept, because it's not linked by lyrics or music so much as it is by a structural meta-concept--that of a sandwich. The first and last tracks, two pseudo-doo-wop songs, serve as the bread. All the songs up to "Little House I Used to Live In" are the toppings, condiments, and so on, and "Little House I Used to Live In" is the meat . . . well, er, the big burnt weeny. What's remarkable is that the basic tracks consisted of Mothers of Invention "outtakes", but Zappa, being a skilled Dadaist/collagist, could turn "outtakes" into beautiful, cohesive, seemingly composed from scratch works faster than you can say "Max Ernst". At any rate, let's look at the tracks.
Track 1: "WPLJ" 5/5
This has been performed live on a number of occasions--it appears on the Does Humor Belong in Music? disc, for example--but without a doubt, this is my favorite version of the song. Zappa achieves an appropriate 1950s-sounding production, including the female backup singers, and the music has a great, grooving looseness, including the horns. Roy Estrada's falsetto makes it even better, as does the Cheech-Marin sounding chicano dialogue over the end.
Track 2: "Igor's Boogie, Phase One" 5/5
No one, not even Zappa, loves/loved Stravinsky more than I do, plus I love Zappa just as much, so this "L'Histoire du Soldat" tribute/spoof works brilliantly for me.
Track 3: "Overture to a Holiday in Berlin" 5/5
. . . and it leads beautifully to this severely bent-intonation wonder. God I love that brief sax solo. And the outtro melody is gorgeous and orchestrated gorgeously.
Track 4: "Theme from Burnt Weeny Sandwich" 5/5
It begins as a guitar solo track, but with an extension of the orchestration from the previous track creating multiple layers underneath. It segues to some tape-speed manipulation percussion, ala that heard accompanying the Bruce Bickford animation in Baby Snakes. There it piqued your interest, but here it grows perfectly, organically out of the composition until it consumes everything in its path. Something like a melodic Tony Williams-on-a-ton-of-acid-and-speed drum solo.
Track 5: "Igor's Boogie, Phase Two" 5/5
The bookend (within a larger bookended work) that matches Track 2. Shorter, but just as good, and not just because of the added honking, although that rocks.
Track 6: "Holiday in Berlin, Full Blown" 5/5
Later used again on 200 Motels. Here it's a bit like "Peaches en Regalia's" mellow cousin. Gorgeous melodies, wondrous orchestration, and an amazing soprano sax solo leading to more tape-speed manipulation percussion. It ties a lot of the elements of tracks 2 through 5 together very nicely, then moves to one of Zappa's more lyrical extended solos.
Track 7: "Aybe Sea" 5/5
Speaking of lyrical guitar work, this is a mostly delicate, almost kinda traditional classical piece for guitars, keyboards and a bit of percussion. Of course, there's lots of twentieth century stuff in there, too, and in a surprising change for this album, the piano solo that closes it gets pretty quiet, sparse, and not so surprisingly, increasingly "outside", as it segues to--
Track 8: "Little House I Used to Live in" 5/5
In a very smooth transition, the continuing solo piano is suddenly more jazzy--kind of a cross between Gershwin and Copland's (underrated) piano pieces. It's contemplative and moving. Then the whole band joins in a Zappa-ish fusion groove. After the drum break, there's a great 11/8 groove that turns into some wicked carousel orchestration. Then more complex, fusiony, uptempo 3/4 stuff becomes some extremely skilled interplay between Zappa and his drummer (probably Art Tripp) before the extended, burning and soulful Don "Sugarcane" Harris violin solo, interpolated by a typically odd Don Preston piano solo. There is a couple of short, interesting "stomping" vamps to listen for here--one halfway between 3/4 and 5/8, one halfway between 4/4 and 7/8. I love those kinds of "in-between" grooves. It's difficult to say how intentional they were here, but they work. The end of this track becomes composed 20th Century classical again. The transition between a melancholic hurdy-gurdy block chord structure and a spastic carnival-gone-haywire groove is primo. Although the ending pretty much remains in 4/4, there is a lot of creative rhythmic and playing-with-tempo stuff between the keyboards and drums. After the track is over, we get the Zappa's infamous quote, "Everybody in this room is wearing a uniform, and don't kid yourself".
Track 9: "Valarie" 5/5
This is the bottom piece of bread, the second pseudo doo-wop song. It has an appropriate and enjoyable lazy, sloppy--maybe even "skanky"--groove, enhanced by the guitar fluttering through Leslie speakers. Especially with the vocals, it sometimes sounds like we're trudging through molasses. In other words, holy cow we're pleasantly stuffed after eating all of that Burnt Weeny Sandwich!
W's for White, the P is for Port, L is the Lemon, the J is the Juice.......2006-07-11
This is my personal all-time favorite FZ album and makes a perfect one-two punch with the seminal "Hot Rats," which came out around the same time... those two together are almost the perfect showcase for Zappa's compositional skills ("The Little House I Used to Live In"), his guitar prowess (Hot Rats' "Willie the Pimp"), as well as the mind-shattering instrumental talents of reedsmith Ian Underwood and violin madman Sugarcane Harris.
I agree with the assessment that this one is more the classical side of FZ and Hot Rats is more the jazz-rock avenue, but there is ample crossover on each from one to the other in terms of style and compositional intent. Anyway you slice it this is top-drawer, truly Progressive Rock in every sense of the word, wherein many styles and forms are united under the inclusive rubric of Rock, making a whole that is, at its best, greater than the sum of its parts.
I love everything about this album, from the almost modern-classical feel of the instrumentals to the fantastic doo-wop numbers that are the bookends of this most tasty Sandwich, which manage that rarest of accomplishments in that they sound like parodies AND tributes to the genre at the same time. Perhaps best of all is the concert interlude near the end where Frank defends the cops providing security at the show from screaming, disapproving hippies, with the admonishment that "every one in this room is wearing a uniform, and don't kid yourself...".
Again, there is no excuse not to own both this and Hot Rats, they are FZ at his apogee and worthy contenders for his best recordings ever.
Worth The Calories.......2006-07-07
Collecting Zappa is treacherous business, even for the die-hard fan - for the uninitiated it is on a par with sticking your head into a bucket of piranha fish. Even his very best work, (Uncle Meat, Freak Out, Hot Rats, We're Only In It For The Money, and Weasels Ripped My Flesh, to name just a few), is replete with dreadful flaws and grandiose missteps. The best rule of thumb is to seek out the earlier material, steer towards the more musically oriented work, and avoid the infantile humor and curmudgeon-ish political rants. This is harder than it sounds.
Fortunately, you can save yourself a lot of pain by going straight to Burnt Weeny Sandwich, easily one of Zappa's best, and most musically satisfying efforts. You'll have to sit through WPLJ and Valerie, two short satirical bits of ersatz pop fluff. These numbers are intended to be funny but get lost on the way, something that happens rather a lot in the wonderland of Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention. But everything beyond that it smooth sailing.
The standout here is Little House I Used To Live In, 18:41 of mercurial magic that builds and builds, constantly switching gears, instruments, moods, and time signatures. The piece is a showcase for Ian Underwood and Don "Sugar Cane" Harris, whose virtuoso fiddling also appears on Hot Rats and Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Underwood, a musical prodigy, plays at a level of sophistication more at home in Carnegie Hall than in the dreadful arenas frequented by rock groups. His expressiveness and versatility are spellbinding. As is often the case with Zappa's better work, Little House I Used To Live In is a "movie for your ears," it seems to suggest a gallery of pictures you alone can provide. All other tracks are also orchestral and, though not as dazzling as Little House I Used To Live In, deliver the freight to the right address. Highly recommended because it's so darn tasty.

Warren Zevon died in 2003, a year after learning he had an inoperable form of lung cancer. He took that year to wrap up loose ends, recording a moving coda to his up and down collection of albums, while being heralded by legions of admirers. This 14-song tribute to the singer-songwriter, coming out a year after his passing, allows for a cooler assessment of his gifts and, guess what? He was one hell of a songwriter. One part fierce rocker, one part slightly abashed sentimentalist, Zevon's lyrical arsenal included humor, sentiment, menace, and general weirdness, all of which he mixed and matched in wild ways. The early hits "Lawyers, Guns and Money" (done here by the Wallflowers) and "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" (recreated by Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt) turn bravado on its ear with witty self-deprecation. Pete Yorn's take on a later gem, "Splendid Isolation," captures Zevon's gift for leftfield pathos, while Jill Sobule's whispered "Don't Let Us Get Sick" allows one to bask in Zevon's hardboiled sensitivity; he wanted to allow his spirit to show, but he didn't want to get stupid about it. This compilation from his last record label was co-produced by Zevon's son, Jordan (who performs a previously unheard number, "Studabaker") and longtime cohort Jorge Calderon (who movingly recreates Zevon's so-long song, "Keep Me in Your Heart"). The duo bring together the likes of Bob Dylan, the Pixies, Steve Earle, and Bruce Springsteen to tip their hats to an artist who's songs deserve to live on for decades after his death. --Steven Stolder
Customer Reviews:
Never follow an act that's better than yours........2007-06-17
A long time ago I learned this lesson the hard way (a story not worth the telling, btw). This isn't to suggest that the artists on this tribute album aren't as good as Warren Zevon; that's hardly the case and it's not the point. It's that some of the performances add nothing that Zevon hadn't already nailed. A lot of style gets applied, which is sufficient for covering a lot of other artists' material. But if you're going to cover a Warren Zevon song, you'd better have something real to bring to the table.
Happily, there are several good performances here, and even the few that should have been quickly euthanized seem to be products of simple vanity, here rendered sweet and forgiveable by purity of motive. It seems clear that these acts all share a genuine fondness for Warren and/or the songs themselves. Still, it perplexes me that some people who can appreciate music of such rare quality and intelligence can be so blind to their own inability to add anything to it.
Best of the bunch: "Studebaker" - Jordan Zevon (sounds like he learned to sing listening to his dad and Jackson Browne); "Searching for a Heart" - Don Henley; "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" - Jackson Browne/Bonnie Raitt/Waddy Wachtel.
Not sure what they were thinking: "The Wind" - Billy Bob Thornton (I could understand the "Sling Blade" guy better than this vocal); the Wallflowers - not bad I guess, but they make a good argument that Warren spoiled "Lawyers, Guns and Money" for everyone else and it should never again be attempted by anyone; the Pixies - you can't out-Zevon Zevon in a Zevon song, where his attitude will always be badder than yours.
So it's not necessarily that Warren Zevon is a hard act to follow. It's that his songs are a hard act to follow. If you're going to cover one, leave your stylings at home and bring your cojones instead.
Anyway, I definitely recommend the record. A lot of the material is worthwhile, and even with the stuff that isn't so good, the songwriting itself still manages to shine through.
a great CD.......2007-03-10
This is a fantastic CD. There are at least 5 songs on this album that I treasure, several of which I hadn't heard in either the original or the covered version. Having lost a parent recently, the nature of the tribute also struck a personal chord. Highly recommended.
Wonderful and Meaningful Songs.......2007-01-06
What usually happens is that the first rendition one listens and grows with is the one he loves best. For me it worked otherwise. Contrary to what another reviewer said, Zevon's interpretations of his own songs did not grab me. Ok, I was curious to see what he is about only because Dylan had expressed his admiration for him. And incidentally the inclusion in this cd of a Dylan interpretation was the reason I bought it. Yet the covers 'grabed' me indeed. Arguably the songs are nice, mostly expressing a solitary mood which suits me at this period of time. Moreover there is a uniform style in all the interpretations, so although there are some songs I like best I don't use this record to listen just to them but I go through it from start till end. Now, do they really bring out anything new or anything better? Not being I real Warren Zevon fan I cannot have an opinion, yet the fact remains that this cd is more enjoyable to me than his greatest hits.
Better than expected.......2007-01-03
This is a nice collection for die hard fans and for people new to his music. It's a good blend of famous and obscure Zevon songs. "My Ride's Here" by Bruce Springsteen is worth the price alone.
hit and miss.......2006-12-16
The songs are great, but if you are in the market for this disk you already know that. So how about the interpretations and performances? Well, with a few exceptions the performances are fine. But something about the interpretations didn't really grab me.
There were a few cuts on this disk that were just outstanding and a few that just didn't really work for me. But for most of them I just wondered what the point was. They didn't really bring out anything new, and certainly didn't bring out anything better.
I guess this is what happens with most tribute anthologies, but I had hoped for something different. For what it's worth, I think my favorite cuts are those by Springsteen and Zevon (the younger).

Listen,Learn, & Grow: Playtime.......2007-05-14
The music is excellent, with high quality sound. Not irritating as some classical music can be. Plus the tempo's are varied which is great depending if you need something fast paced or more slow. Best of all, the kids enjoyed it!
Grandkids love it!.......2007-01-03
How to gently insert a little culture into the grandkids' lives without Mom freaking out.....send this set of CDs for Christmas. Dad's into heavy metal and Mom, although she has a long history of listening to Classical music as a child, is now into Country. Nothing wrong with that, but how are the three little ones going to hear any of the Classics with Grandma living more than 600 miles away? "Play this in the background while they're having creative time," said I, "and see if they don't enjoy it." When I talked with them a week later the 4 year old couldn't wait to tell me how much he liked the "playtime music" I'd sent him. The quality of the recording is good and the variety of rhythms and tempos make it interesting. Yes they're a little trite and you're going to have to explain that the theme to "the Bad News Bears" really is Classical, but that's okay. If they skipped the genius of Mozart as an infant, or even if they teethed to "the Magic Flute", these CDs will give them a taste of a variety of good music and who knows how far into the Classical realm it may send them as they mature?

Product Description
"Crossing" is a recording for anyone looking to rediscover the folk tradition in a contemporary expressive format. It has the songs and the musicians performing that are capable of recreating what many consider to be a lost or at least an endangered art. Having blazed a new/old trail in 2003 of addressing the folk tradition idiom by working with some incredible musicians in a live studio recording session that resulted in my first SA-CD "The Window", this disc "Crossing" continues to explore the depth to which highly articulate lyrics and accompaniments can be captured and recreated for the listener in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. 'Crossing' joined the top list of picks by High Fidelity Review writers for the 2005 Surround Music Awards: ** "Listener's Choice" award ** final nominee. 'Crossing' was also a final nominee in these categories for the SMA 2005 Awards: ** Best Made-For-Surround Title ** final nominee ** Best Non-Orchestral Mix ** final nominee Featuring: - Sally Van Meter (dobro/weissenborn) - Matt Flinner (mandolin) - David Phillips (pedal steel) - Eric Moon (accordion, keyboards) - Eric Thorin (standup bass) - Marc Dalio (percussion) - Chris Kee (standup bass) - Peter Tucker (percussion) - John Havard (electric) - Reid Dennis (percussion)
Customer Reviews:
An icon among singer-songwriters of America.......2006-01-15
With the release of "Crossing," David Elias has re-affirmed his place as an icon among singer-songwriters of America. For David, it seems truly a crossing of old and new technologies - warm, wooden, acoustic instruments recorded on state-of-the-art Sonoma DSD equipment. Also crossing exciting new tracks (the gritty, gunslinger Dobro of "Morning Light/Western Town," the vivid, honest imagery of"Crossing," and the signature David Elias way of making a yearning, existential paean sound hopeful, as in "One More Savior") while breathing new life into a few of David's classic tunes ("Mend My Mind," "Heaven's Destiny," and "Changing Down"). But the real irony of David Elias' "Crossing" is the friendly way it greets you ears on first listen, and then finds it's way into your heart thereafter. And once that happens, you're a fan for life. Lucky for us, David's prolific songwriting keeps us fed with gems like "Crossing."

All over the place.......2006-01-02
I discovered MBM after hearing his/their track "Prime Audio Soup" used in "The Matrix." At the time I had the idea of a sort of techno/rave group, and had certain expectations. As one might predict, those were totally swept aside when I heard "Subliminal Sandwich" for the first time. Exploring a new avenue of music, I found it hard to love this collection at first. However, two years later, I gave it another listen and decided differently.
Perhaps my two favorite tracks are "Future Worlds" and "Asbestos Lead Asbestos." The former, a sort of electronica-jazz-fusion cocktail, is nothing less than a fun and groovy listen, with an odd little sample line- "we can design future worlds." Its approach is ominous, with a bassoon bobbing in with a low note before the rhythm begins, but the most enjoyable element is the laid-back guitar soloing.
"Asbestos Lead Asbestos" is not openly hostile, but somewhat sarcastic and cynical in its lyrical message. Dangers offers an opinion of the classes, and it's not terribly nice to the rich. "Equal opportunity, except if our pedigree dogs don't like the smell of your children..." At least I think that's what he says; it's hard to tell, because his pronounciation is very odd. Whatever the case may be, it's obvious that while he's not promoting anarchism, he definitely doesn't like the general shape of society that he sees. The whole song has a very nice tap to it, again more like music played on instruments than arranged on a Mac. This is common throughout most of the album.
Until you get to CD 2, that is. While there are several songs here that fit into the performed category, a good portion of the disc is made up of gradual progressions of sound and melody. "Electric People," for example, makes me think of... well, I don't exactly know, but it's definitely more techno than most of CD 1. It's not hard to see, after you listen to this ensemble, why the experts can't quite figure out just exactly in which genre Jack Dangers fits.
I honestly don't know the industry well enough to say whether this album is influential or not, but I can say that for anyone who is imaginative and enjoys experimental music of any kind, this is something worth checking out.
Yeah... wooo..........2004-12-08
I remember back in '96 I saw this CD in a Columbia House catalog and decided to give it a try. I liked the name, what can I say. I bought it, listened to it a few spins, decided I liked it, but that was that. Fast forward a few years, when in high school art class I throw this in my discman and finally start realizing what's going on. This is a lot... murky bass, ephemeral sounds just drifting in the background. Some subterranean hip hop, dub/jungle/toasting cut ups (which would be fully realized during the In Dub CD), organic rusty sounds everywhere. And this is just the first CD. Basically, a culmination of their rougher, earlier sound with the grooves of Satyricon. Top notch.
Then you get to CD two. The night to CD1's day. I can't sum this stuff into words. It's what techno music should have become. It's vicious, entrancing, LONG, rough. Analog squelches and bass are the order here. There's so many moments to choose from here. The spacious, deep space groove of "Mad Bomber/The Woods". The crushing, slow building "The Utterer", the trip hop freakouts of "United Nations, Etc" and "Plexus", and the multiple buildup/breakdowns of "Electric People". I mean, it took me forever to notice the grungy sound that carries the song around 4 minutes in is actually a distorted clarinet solo. It's just filled with little things like that. It's really one of the few electronic CDs around which betray it's electronic roots to come across feeling completely natural. More than a sum of it's parts.
As you can tell, I like CD two the best, but both CDs are completely f***ing awesome. It all depends on your tastes. But, it's a damn good buy and one of the most original CDs I've ever heard.
The Real Prime Audio Soup.......2004-10-29
After 19 years of existence, I have finally decided that my favorite album is "The Best of Roy Orbinson" by Roy Orbinson.Ha!
No seriously, it is Meat Beat Manifesto's acid drenched "Subliminal Sandwich". This CD would've really worked well with the title "Prime Audio Soup", for that is the only way I can describe this CD (well not so much Disc1, but definitly Disc2)
Disc one is absolutly jam packed with 18 songs, every one carving it's own niche in the CD, and not a single one is boring. Each song retains MBM's signature sound, while representing a different side of it. So many subgenres are represented on this album that it is downright daunting to analyze and describe what they all are. Just listen to the samples and you will know what I'm saying. Simply fantastic, absorbing, and oddly emotional.
Somehow, by some weird act of fate, Disc Two absolutly trumps Disc One, and with only 10 songs. This CD is why I'm writting this review in the first place. Each song has an extreme volume of euphoric sound pulsing in-and-out of earshot. How Mr. Dangers
managed to make real audio soup I will never know. I'm just glad that he did in the first place.
To all you pyschonaughts out there (and you know who you are), this CD will suck you into worlds otherwise inconceivable for the sober mind. It sounds like an acid trip, as in how you would hear normal music on acid, without the acid (Get it?Got It?Good!). On acid (or you're
hallucinogen of choice) this CD is utterly absorbing all of the way through, but espescially so on tracks 7 through 10. All in all great while sober (both Cds), but unbelievably fantastic while tripping. Buy it now, so that the CD will not disapeer due to low sales. This masterwork must be preserved.
...and now for something completly different........2004-06-05
The first time I heard this album, it was at a local library. Someone was playing it over the public C.D. player, and I went over to find out what it was. The listener checked it out and never returned it, so I went out and bought it. Later, after I bought it, it was stolen from me, so I bought another copy. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite albums. This was also the first Meat Beat Manifesto album I heard. When I listened to some his older stuff, I was suprised at how different it sounds compoared to "Subliminal Sandwich". I think this album provides a nice change in the electronic, dare I say techno, genre. Something nice and different, but you can still dance to it.
A must-have!.......2002-10-11
Likely the most prolific and highly-engineered Meat Beat album to date, this double-disc set expands on Mr. Dangers past records and gives them a subtle, darker twist.
Disc 1 is more "contemporary" Meat Beat, with deep bass lines and memorable vocal samples distributed throughout.
Disc 2 is a more "introspective" (some may say experimental) venture, which is truly unique and memorable, even if you won't be dancing to most of the songs.
Overall, a must-have for any new or old Meat Beat fan.

2 live crew you can dance to!.......2003-07-05
The only way to describe the outhere brothers are 2 live crew flavor that you can dance to. This is the album you and your buddies would make after sitting around drinking and shooting the bull all night. Great beats coupled with some funny risque lyrics. Instead of playing some Luther or Barry white to get your girl in the mood, slap on the outhere brothers. : - )
One of the funniest albums ever!.......2001-05-09
This album, from a group called The Outhere Brothers, is one of the trashiest, most repulsive albums ever made, and that's what makes it so great! The songs break all the rules of censorship and reach into the farthest depths of vulgarity and depravity to make us laugh more than anything else has ever been able to make us laugh. Be sure to listen to "Pass the Toilet Paper," as well as the hilarious "FYITA."
A great CD.......1999-09-12
I love this CD. I especially liked "Boom, Boom, Boom", "Don't Stop Wiggle Wiggle", and " Phat Phat Phat." This CD is awesome but it has lots of pervertive lyrics. So I don't recommend this Cd for young children. Their other album "The Other Side" is much better.
An Excellent CD, Breaking All Boundaries!.......1999-09-07
The Outhere Brothers create a new genre with their CD entitled 1 Polish..... . This genre could only be called the "What we really mean genre." The Outhere Brothers never throw a curve at you, and they never try to bs you in anyway. They are straight foward with all their phenomenal lyrics, and their style is unmatched.
Phat, phat, phat... This CD is by far the best "ever"........1999-03-23
"Dis CD is fatter than my girlfriend" (errr... phatter). It's packed with great songs such as "I wanna". The song "I wanna" was used in a Dutch commercial to promote an English learning program. Keep in mind... this CD is not meant for the light-hearted. ;-)

Album Description
"The Window" is one of the most talked about SACD's on the web. Recognized by industry audiophiles as a landmark achievement, its songwriting was voted Honorable Mention in the 2004 Billboard World Music Contest ("Freedom on the Freeway") and its surround mixes were part of the final nominations at the 2003 Surround Music Awards in Beverly Hills. Hybrid SACD plays on any CD player, Walkman, etc.
According to the Sony SACD Project team, 'The Window' is the very first hybrid multichannel SACD to be released by an independent (unsigned) arist anywhere in the world. Rave reviews at SA-CD.net, HighFidelityReview.com AudioAsylum forum and elsewhere on the net confirm the wide appeal of this recording.
Customer Reviews:
If you want to know what SACD is all about..........2006-06-17
...then get a SACD player and this SACD. Every time I queue it up in my 5 disc changer/player, even if I start doing something else in the interim, I stop and sit and smile for at least a song or two when this one comes up. David's voice and acoustic guitar, the supporting musicians, the clarity of the recording, the overall production of the album are second to none. Many, if not most, other SACD recordings are mixed into the SACD format either after being recorded before DSD/SACD format was invented or after being recorded on the more typical/standard studio equipment; a true DSD recording, such as this one, is still a rarity. If you're an acoustic music fan this one is a must have.
